Parsha Mishpatim Part 2, Parsha Terumah, Halacha

Parsha Mishpatim Part 2

Baba Kama First Mishnah: THE PRINCIPAL CATEGORIES OF DAMAGE ARE FOUR: THE OX, THE PIT, THE 'SPOLIATOR' [MAB'EH] AND THE FIRE.5 THE ASPECTS OF THE OX ARE [IN SOME RESPECTS] NOT [OF SUCH LOW ORDER OF GRAVITY] AS THOSE OF THE 'SPOLIATOR'; NOR ARE [IN OTHER RESPECTS] THOSE OF THE 'SPOLIATOR' [OF SUCH LOW ORDER OF GRAVITY] AS THOSE OF THE OX; NOR ARE THE ASPECTS OF EITHER OF THEM, IN WHICH THERE IS LIFE, [OF SUCH LOW ORDER OF GRAVITY] AS THOSE OF THE FIRE WHICH IS NOT ENDOWED WITH LIFE; NOR ARE THE ASPECTS OF ANY OF THESE, THE HABIT OF WHICH IS TO BE MOBILE AND DO DAMAGE, [OF SUCH LOW ORDERS OF GRAVITY] AS THOSE OF THE PIT OF WHICH IT IS NOT THE HABIT TO MOVE ABOUT AND DO DAMAGE. THE FEATURE COMMON TO THEM ALL IS THAT THEY ARE IN THE HABIT OF DOING DAMAGE; AND THAT THEY HAVE TO BE UNDER YOUR CONTROL SO THAT WHENEVER ANY ONE [OF THEM] DOES DAMAGE THE OFFENDER IS LIABLE TO INDEMNIFY WITH THE BEST OF HIS ESTATE.

The Ox has a nature of goring, eating (spoiling crops by devouring them or trampling upon them), the hole in the road if deep enough could slash the tires or brakes of a car or as is places like FL or the dead sea even swallow cars and buses (rare events) it also has the nature that if not enclosed can cause the death of children and animals and even construction workers have been known to have been killed by cave-ins or sudden water filling up these pits or holes. Fire damage is well known to all and if a person like a spark in a shop he can accidentally burn down a forest. Now spoilage by teeth, poor transportation conditions, etc. have an obligation on the cattle/sheep transporter or vegetable transporter to move things without spoilage of produce. The same with road maintenance and not fencing off excavations introduces a liability on the person who dug the hole. Now if the hole was let us say dug a certain depth as to cause injure but not kill somebody and came along somebody else and dug it deep enough to kill an animal or person, the second digger becomes liable.

The Jewish maid servant is discussed and it is a Mitzvah to free her upon maturity and even righteous for the son of the master to marry her. Sometimes a rich man of the land (Am HaAretz) wants for himself or his son a well breed wife of a Levy, Cohain or Talmid Chacham who is dirt poor and perhaps starving. He sends his agent which could be his mother or sister to the wife of the Talmid Chacham or somebody to convince the man that this person might be good for his daughter. It once happened just the opposite way though. Now Rachel the only child and daughter of the wealthiest man in Yerushalayim saw that her shepherd was wise and only had to learn Torah to become a Talmid Chacham, the poor Shepherd from converts (see my comments below) did not see any hope of learning to read and write and much less marry the daughter of Kalba Savua. However, she convinced him that he could learn to read and write in Hebrew. The daughter upon her marriage or rather elopement was disinherited by her father. The Shepherd the son of Yosef was not a young man. He was 40 when he started learning the Aleph Bet. Slowly he worked his way into Chumosh, Tanach, and the Oral Torah which was the Mishnayos and sayings of his day. He learned more and more until he became the head of the Rabbinical Academy named Rabbi Akiva. In the meantime Kalba Savua repented regarding his only daughter whom he had not seen in over 24 years and wanted to go to the Gadol HaDor to remove his vow. Not recognizing Rabbi Akiva as his former shepherd, the Rabbi asked him: “If you knew you’re your shepherd would become a Talmid Chacham would you have made such a vow. Kalba replied of course not. He then said, your vow was made as a mistake because your son-in-law is a Talmud Chacham. With this Rachel who was in women’s section could not control herself and burst forth and yelled “Aba, Aba (Father, father)” and gave him the biggest bear hug that you could imagine. This is essentially the reason of a person of ‘lower’ Jewish stock who was wealthy would take as a wife a poor girl of good stock.

21:7 And if a man sell his daughter to be a maid-servant, she shall not go out as the men-servants do. 8 If she pleases not her master, who hath espoused her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed; to sell her unto a foreign people he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her. 9 And if he espouses her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters.

In polygamous cults wives are not given a fair deal and often don’t have sufficient conjugal rights. In Judaism: 10 If he takes him another wife, her food, her raiment, and her conjugal rights, shall he not diminish.

If he takes another [wife] for himself. in addition to her. — [From Mechilta] he shall not diminish her sustenance, her clothing, or her marital relations. from the maidservant whom he had already designated. — [From Mechilta] her sustenance. Heb. שְׁאֵרָהּ, [referring to] food. — [From Mechilta, Keth. 47b] her clothing. Heb. כְּסוּתָה, lit., her covering As its apparent meaning [namely her clothing]. her marital relations. Heb. עֹנָתָה, [meaning physical] intimacy. — [From Mechilta, Keth. 47b]

11 And if he does not these three unto her, then shall she go out for nothing, without money.

The man loses his right as husband. I assume that the woman could collect her marriage contract from him in the courts and her going out from him also appears to have to have the consent of the court.

And if he does not do these three things for her. If he does not do any one of these three things for her. Now what are these three things? He should designate her for himself or for his son [as a wife], or he should deduct from the money of her redemption and allow her to go free. But this one [master] designated her neither for himself nor for his son, and she could not afford to redeem herself [even after the deduction]. — [From Mechilta] she shall go free without charge. [The text] adds [another means of] emancipation for this [maidservant] beyond what it provided for male slaves. Now what is this [means of] emancipation? וְיָצְאָה חִנָם informs you that she goes free when she shows [initial] signs [of puberty], and she must stay with him until she develops [these] signs. If six years pass before the appearance of these signs, we have already learned that she goes free, as it is said: “Should your brother, a Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman [be sold to you, that one] shall serve you for six years” (Deut. 15: 12). What then is the meaning of “she shall go out without charge”? If the signs [of puberty] precede the [end of] six years, she shall go free because of them. Or perhaps it means only that she goes out when she reaches maturity [i.e., at twelve and a half years]? Therefore, Scripture says: “without [payment of] money,” to include her emancipation at maturity. If both of them [i.e., that she goes free “without charge” and “without money”] were not stated, [and “she shall go out without charge” was stated,] I would say that “she shall go out without charge” refers to [her being freed at] maturity. Therefore, both of them were stated, so that the disputant has no opportunity to differ. -[From Mechilta, Kid. 4a]

12 He that smites a man, so that he dies, shall surely be put to death.

One who strikes a man so that he dies. Several verses have been written in the section dealing with murderers, and I will explain what I am able to explain [about] why they [these verses] are needed. One who strikes a man so that he dies. Why was this said? Because it says: “And if a man strikes down any human being, he shall surely be put to death” (Lev. 24:17), I understand [that even if he deals him] a blow without death. Therefore, the Torah says: “He who strikes a man and he dies,” meaning that he is liable only for a blow causing death. If it said: “He who strikes a man,” and it did not say, “And if a man strikes down any human being,” I would say that one is liable only if one strikes a man. If one strikes a woman or a minor, how do we know [that one is liable]? Therefore, the Torah says: “if [a man] strikes down any human being,” referring even to a minor or even a woman. Also, if it said: “He who strikes a man,” I would understand that even a minor who struck and killed [someone] would be liable. Therefore, the Torah [specifically] says: “if a man strikes down,” but not a minor who strikes [someone] down. Also, “if… strikes down any human being” implies even a nonviable infant. Therefore, the Torah [here] says: “He who strikes a man,” implying one is liable only if one strikes a viable infant, one [who is] capable of becoming a man [i.e., an adult]. -[From Mechilta]

This is all the continuation of the Jewish Maid Servant girl but we return to the male servant. The continuation of the Torah covers accidental death and more than just that of the bondman. (13 And if a man lie not in wait, but God cause it to come to hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he may flee. But one who did not stalk [him]. He did not lie in wait for him, and he did not intend [to kill him]. -[From Sifrei, Num. 35:22] stalk. Heb. צָדָה, an expression meaning “lie in wait.” 14 And if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbor, to slay him with guile; thou shall take him from Mine altar, that he may die.)The male servant may be destitute as a orphan of a Talmid Chacham, a person who was downtrodden by economic` woes or a thief who was sold into servitude to pay for his crime. The smiting of his own servant if a death occurs since his beating was intentional, so too he as master must be put to death from the plain text. There is of course oral Torah about witnesses and warnings and if it is manslaughter or a spiteful death. Of course the man not dying whether intentional or accidental would entitle the victim to payment for embarrassment (walking around with a black eye and a cast etc.), healing, recovery, loss of earnings, etc.

From Daas:

"If a man steals a bull or a lamb and slaughters it or sells it, he shall pay five cattle for the bull or four sheep for the lamb." Rashi quotes two sages who offer an explanation as to why there is a difference of four and five: Rabban Yochanan ben Zakkai said: G-d was considerate of people's honor. For a bull, which walks with its own feet, and the thief was not disgraced by carrying it on his shoulder, he pays fivefold. For a lamb, which the thief carries on his shoulder, he pays only
fourfold because he was disgraced by it. Rabbi Meir said: Come and see how great the power of work is! For the theft of a bull, which caused the owner to stop working, the thief pays five. For the theft of a lamb, which did not cause the owner to stop working, the thief pays four.

Why is there a need for 2 explanations? And are they really arguing or are they saying the same thing from a different approach? Rashi doesn't usually quote names of sages. Why does he here?

Let's analyze the 2 aforementioned views. According to R' Yochanan the thief was really meant to be punished 5fold but due to embarrassment suffered this is reduced to 4. R' Meir on the other hand maintains that the punishment is to pay 4 but due to the importance of work which was not performed a 5th value of the animal is added.

The Torah mentions paying 5 first followed by an exception to the rule in case of sheep ,where the thief only pays 4. This seems to indicate that the simple meaning of the words in the Torah follows R' Yochanan's opinion. Rashi always opts for the simplest explanation even when there are other opinions in the Talmud or Midrash. This would explain why he puts R' Yochanan first. But why is R' Meir mentioned at all if his opinion doesn't fit in?

If we would stick to R' Yochanan, we would have a problem. According to him we reduce the payment to the victim because the thief suffered. This seems to be unfair to the victim! His loss didn't become any smaller due to the fact that the thief felt uncomfortable removing his belongings from his property.

Enter R' Meir who looks at the case from a different angel. The victim is owed only 4. That is in the case of sheep. In the case of an ox there is greater damage so he is owed 5.

In other words. R' Yochanan focuses on the thief who always deserves to pay 5 unless it becomes 4. R' Meir focuses on the victim who is owed 4 unless 5.

Rashi needed both explanations but still preferred R' Yochanan because the simple meaning of the Torah indicates that we discuss the punishment of the thief rather than how much is owed to the victim.

The 2 opinions in the Talmud that we are discussing are preceded by another related case which also mentions these two scholars. The Talmud asks: "Why does the Torah punish thieves more than (open) robbers?" R. Yochanan ben Zakai offered his explanation. A robber does not disrespect G-d more than he disrespects people - he openly defies both! A thief on the other hand defies G-d by transgressing his will, but he fears people and hides from them. (Here R' Yochanan quotes 3
verses which will be discussed soon)

R. Meir explains the difference by means of a parable heard from R'Gamliel. This is as 2 people in a city that made parties. One invited the people of the city, but not the king's children, The other invited neither. The punishment of the one who did invite some people, but not the most important ones, is greater than the one who didn't invite anyone.

Here too R' Yochanan and R' Meir do not really argue.

R' Yochanan focuses on the perpetrator and the amounts of fear he lacks. R' Meir focuses on the amount of consideration given to the victim. (which only translates as lack of respect for the ONE above)?

This train of thought is the same we applied in our case of paying 4 or 5. R' Yochanan focuses on the thief whereas R' Meir focuses on the victim.

The law of paying 4 or 5 fold only applies in case the animal was slaughtered or sold. Why then do we subtract one complete animal from the payment in case of stealing a sheep? The embarrassment happens at the time of the stealing, not later. Isn't embarrassment only when people see? At the time of the theft no one saw!

Therefore we must say that the embarrassment happens in court. The punishment for stealing is to repay the object plus one time its value. This applies even to animals, provided they were not sold or slaughtered. At the court case no big deal will be made in a simple case of stealing. `something' was stolen and the thief is fined to pay double that object. Since the law is different in case the animal was slaughtered or sold there is more detailed attention to the thief. Images of a man carrying a sheep on his shoulder will paint themselves in the minds of all present at the case. This in itself is already more embarrassing than being convicted for a
simple stealing case. But is that embarrassment so strong that the entire value of the stolen object can be reduced one from the punishment? (4 sheep instead of 5)
According to R' Yochanan ben Zakai yes, indeed. About him we know that he would always greet everyone before they had a chance to greet him. Even if this was a non Jew in the street. By Rashi mentioning R' Yochanan's name we understand his position. From anyone else, not known to be extremely sensitive about the
honor of his fellow man, we wouldn't expect this position. (To explain why R' Meir is mentioned would make this essay too long)

We mentioned before that R' Yochanan quoted 3 verses in connecting with the thief who thinks he can hide from G-d. "Woe to those that delve deeply to (try to) conceal their counsel from G-d, they act in darkness"; "They said, G-d does not see or understand". "They said, G-d abandoned the land, he does not see".

Why do we need so many verses to bring out a simple point that the thief doesn't believe in G-d! Let's take a closer look at the three verses.
1) G-d exists but we can hide in darkness where he won't see. (This is based on an earlier fundamental mistake that)
2) G-d doesn't `see' physical things without physical eyes. (which is based on a fundamental mistake that)
3) He abandoned the land! He is not down here in this low world.

R' Meir mentioned in his parable the king's children who were not invited. The King himself is not even mentioned. The thief thinks G-d gave the world over to the forces of nature. G-d's messengers or children. That nature is being directed by G-d, doesn't occur to him

In terms of rebellion the order is reverse. At first the evil inclination convinces the thief that G-d abandoned the land so there is nothing to worry about.
Stage 2 is lower. Now he accepts that G-d is in this world too. If he can create it, he can be there. But he doesn't pay attention to any physical deeds performed by man. They are nothing compared to His greatness. Stage 3 is even lower. Stage two claims that G-d is high and we are low. In a way that is giving respect to the higher one. Now the thief is convinced that G-d sees physical deeds but only sees positive ones. There is no room for spiritual darkness. This will let him get away with any sin. From there to lower G-d to a level where he needs physical light to see his deeds is a small step. May we soon merit the time when we will see eye to eye with G-d with the coming of Moshiach Now!

Parsha Teruma

Well, the fun Parshiyos are over. This week we start a string of five Torah portions that primarily deal with the building of the Tabernacle, the desert version of what would later become the Temple in Jerusalem. These parts of the Torah are famous for their excruciating detail of specifics and measurements of each and every Temple vessel. We are told, to the precise inch (or cubit) how the walls, curtains, altar, etc. must be created. We also get a lesson in tailoring as the Torah informs us exactly how the clothing of the priests must be prepared. If it were a smaller portion of the Torah, maybe we would have an easier time glossing over the meaning of it all and quickly move onto more relatable matters. But given the fact that the Tabernacle and all the stuff going on there - the sacrificing of animals - occupies half of the second and all of the third of the five books of Moses, it is hard to just ignore the matter and hope no one will notice. – Rabbi Nightingale of Aish Hollywood, FL

This week we start our with the donations for the Mishkan (Tabernacle).

From the Torah MiTzion weekly: Chazal compare the four main kelim (the utensils/implements used in the Mishkan) to four different aspects of serving Hashem:

· The Menorah (the Candelabra) signifies chochmah (wisdom) and ruach HaKodesh (Divine spirit).

· The Shulchan (the Table), which holds the Lechem Hapanim (the showbread), represents parnasa (subsistence) and sovereignty over this world.

· The Misbayach (the Altar) denotes dveikut (loosely, attaching oneself to Hashem, or communion), which today is achieved through tefillah (prayer).

· Lastly, the Aron (the Ark), which contains the Luchot HaBrit, symbolizes the Torah.

What we know from the Torah later on in the building of the Mishkan (Tabernacle) that Moshe had no idea whatsoever of how to make the Menorah, Aron (Ark) or other things that the L-RD told him to do but skilled women and men did no how to build these objects. Moshe was no engineer and he never took a course in logistics. Yet HASHEM who created these fields planned everything out for Moshe.

This week on my vacation in a hotel in the Salt Sea aka Dead Sea a man mentioned to me things written by the Chatam Sofer. (In my words) Normally when an engineer/architect designs a house he does so from the bottom up with the materials needed, the siding, walls, roof, etc. Only after the house his complete or during the process is the kitchen, bathroom titles, flooring design, etc. chosen and at last the furniture and what will be used in the kitchen. Here HASHEM orders in line 6 items for later use: Oil, spice and incense. (My words) At the end of the deed is the first thoughts.

25:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 2 'Speak unto the children of Israel, that they take for Me an offering; of every man whose heart makes him willing ye shall take My offering.

And have them take for Me: Heb. לִי. [I.e.,] dedicated to My name. -[from Tan. 1] offering: Heb. ךְתְּרוּמָה, separation. They shall set apart from their property an offering for Me. תרומה: הפרשה, יפרישו לי מממונם נדבה: whose heart inspires him to generosity: Heb. יִדְּבֶנּוּ לִבּוֹ, an expression of נְדָבָה, which is an expression of good will, present in French, [a] gift. ידבנו לבו: לשון נדבה, והוא לשון רצון טוב, פרישנ"ט בלעז [מתנה]: you shall take My offering: Our Rabbis said: [The word ךְתְּרוּמָה, mentioned three times, denotes that] three offerings are mentioned here. One is the offering of a beka [half-shekel] per head, from which they made the sockets, as is delineated in [Exod. 38:26, 27, in the parsha] “ אֵלֶּה פְקוּדֵי, These are the accounts.” Another is the offering of a beka per head for the [community] coffers, from which to purchase the communal sacrifices, and another is the offering for the Mishkan, each one’s [Israelite’s] donation (Talmud Yerushalmi, Shekalim 1:1; Meg. 29b). The thirteen materials mentioned in this section [i.e., this chapter] were all required for the work of the Mishkan or for the garments of the kohanim, [as you will find] when you study them closely (Tan. 5, Song Rabbah 4:25).

This is the way G-D inspires taxes. They come from the heart and not taken by force or grudgingly given. It is true that in good financial times, I don’t really care if a whole bunch of people knock on my door with good or bad credentials, I give. But when times turn hard, my bell does not stop ringing and all sorts of characters from cigarette addicts to people wanting to case the joint start knocking on the door. Our Synagogue got so many that I ran out of small change. The situation becomes absurd. The only thing that I can think of is to donate more to soup kitchens for the real needy, Keren Ezra LeYelidim for needy children and their education and to various Yeshivos. A donation of 5 NIS per approximately 100 people who knock on my door sometimes annoys them or will just buy them almost a pack of cigarettes but a donation of 300 or 500 NIS to a Torah Institution or Soup Kitchen can make a difference. These donations went for the cause promoted by G-D for all of Am Yisrael and the people gave truly from the heart knowing that it was going to make a difference and not some wise cracker supporting some habit of his from gambling, cigarettes, alcohol or drugs. (All the time I get letters from the Vaad of Miami letters about swindlers using printed photo shop Vaad recommendations for a worthy cause and all the time the true people are stated by the Vaad to prevent swindling of the public.)

3 And this is the offering which ye shall take of them: gold, and silver, and brass;

gold, silver, and copper, etc.: They were all given voluntarily; each person [gave] what his heart inspired him to give, except [for] the silver, which they gave equally, a half-shekel for each individual. We do not find throughout the entire work of the Mishkan that more silver was required, as it is said: “The silver of the community census was…a beka per head…” (Exod. 38:25, 26). The rest of the silver, which was given there [in the work of the Mishkan] voluntarily, they [the workers] made into service utensils.

A person usually tends to hoard his gold, silver and brass but in this instance everything was given from free will.

4 and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair;

blue…wool: Heb. תְכֵלֶת, wool dyed with the blood of the chillazon [animal], which bears a blue color. — [from Men. 44a, Tosefta Men. 9:6] ותכלת: צמר צבוע בדם חלזון, וצבעו ירוק: purple…wool: Heb. וְאַרְגָּמָן, wool dyed with a kind of dye named אַרְגָּמָן. וארגמן: צמר צבוע ממין צבע ששמו ארגמן: linen: Heb. שֵׁשׁ. This is linen. — [from Tosefta Men. 9:6] ושש: הוא פשתן: and goat hair: Heb. וְעִזִים, the hair of goats. Therefore, Onkelos rendered: וּמְעַזֵי, [i.e.,] what comes from the goats, but not the goats themselves [i.e., not the goat skins], for Targum’s [Onkelos] translation of עִזִים [goats] is עִזַיָא (Gen. 30:32).

The blue was rare and quite expensive.

5 and rams' skins dyed red, and sealskins, and acacia-wood;

dyed red: Heb. מְאֳָדָּמִים. They were dyed red after being tanned. מאדמים: צבועות היו אדום לאחר עבודן: tachash skins: This was a species of animal that existed only for a [short] time, and it had many hues (גַּוָּנִים). Therefore, [Onkelos] renders [it] סַסְגּוֹנָא, because it rejoices (שֶׁשָׂשׂ) [ס and שׂ are often interchangeable] and boasts of its hues (גַּוָּנִים). -[from Shab. 28a, b] תחשים: מין חיה, ולא היתה אלא לשעה והרבה גוונים היו לה, לכך מתרגם ססגונא, ששש ומתפאר בגוונין שלו: and acacia wood: Where did they get these [trees] in the desert? Rabbi Tanchuma explained that our father Jacob foresaw with the holy spirit that the Israelites were destined to build a Mishkan in the desert, so he brought cedars to Egypt and planted them. He commanded his sons to take them with them when they left Egypt. — [from Mid. Tanchuma 9]

I have identified this multicolor animal that was kosher to be a Giraffe. It was not a seal.

oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense;

oil for lighting: Pure olive oil to continually kindle the light. Spices for the anointing oil: which was made to anoint the vessels of the Mishkan and [for] the Mishkan itself to sanctify them, and spices were required for it, as is delineated in [the parsha] כִּי תִשָׂא (Exod. 30:22-33). בשמים לשמן המשחה: שנעשה למשוח כלי המשכן והמשכן לקדשו, והוצרכו לו בשמים כמו שמפורש בכי תשא (שמות ל כג - כה): and for the incense: Heb. וְלִקְטֹרֶתהַסַּמִּים, which they burned every evening and morning, as is explained in [the parsha] וְאַךְתָּה ךְתְּצַוֶּה (Exod. 30:7, 8). The word קְטֹרֶת means the raising of smoke (קִיטוֹר) and columns of smoke ךְתִּמְרוֹתעָשָׁן.

7 onyx stones, and stones to be set, for the ephod, and for the breastplate.

shoham stones: Two were needed there [in the Mishkan] for the ephod, mentioned in [the parsha] וְאַךְתָּה ךְתְּצַוֶּה (Exod. 28:9-12). filling: Since they make for them a seat out of gold, like a sort of hole, and the stone is placed there to fill the hole, they are called filling stones. The place of the “seat” is called מִשְׁבֶּצֶת, a setting. for the ephod and for the choshen: The shoham stones for the ephod and the filling stones for the choshen. The ephod and the choshen are explained in וְאַךְתָּה ךְתְּצַוֶּה they are types of ornaments [worn by the kohanim].

8 And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.

And they shall make Me a sanctuary: And they shall make in My name a house of sanctity.

9 According to all that I show thee, the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the furniture thereof, even so shall ye make it.

This was the engineering design and mind drawings that Bezalel and others received by prophecy of the Shechina resting upon them.

Purim is coming! One of the Mitzvoth of Purim is hearing Megilat Esther being read at night and again in the morning. One needs to hear every single word to fulfill this Mitzva. The Megillah should be heard in a Schul if possible; the bigger the crowd the bigger the publicity for the miracle. Everybody needs to hear the Megillah including men, women and children old enough to attend without disturbing the reading needs to be done from a Kosher Megillah; one that is handwritten by a Sofer on parchment. The entire Megillah - some 20 columns in a standard edition - is unrolled and folded like a letter before it is read. Three Brachot are recited before the Megillah is read (both in the evening and the morning) and a single one after the reading.

One of the 613 Mitzvot in the Torah is to obey the Torah Sages. The Sages instituted Purim and its Mitzvot. One of the Mitzvot of Purim is Matanot L'evyonim - to send gifts to at least two needy people. This gift is usually money. Even somebody who lives off charity needs to fulfill this Mitzva. One needn't hand the gifts directly to the needy; one can send them via messenger (or charity organization). Purim is the only day of the year one does not check credentials; anybody who asks for charity on Purim is given something. Both men and women have an obligation to give Matanot L'evyonim. Men may send Matanot L'evyonim to women and vice versa. Source: Kitzur Shulchan Aruch 142:3-4 – Danny

Several large studies suggest that people with an active religious life tend to stay healthier, live longer, and be happier. For example, a review article published in 2000 in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society cited an international study of nearly 170,000 men and women from 14 countries that found religious affiliation and attendance at services significantly increased the likelihood of happiness and satisfaction. Twelve years of data from 2,800 older adults enrolled in the Yale Health and Aging Study, reported in 1997 in the Journals of Gerontology, showed members of religious congregations had a slower onset of physical disability. Other studies on how religion affects health have noted less hostility and anxiety, lower blood pressure, and better quality of life among people with strong beliefs.

But the power of prayer is not easy to document. A 2002 study in the Annals of Behavioral Medicine sifted through research claiming religion and spirituality have positive effects on cardiovascular disease and hypertension. The investigators disputed these results, citing numerous flawed or irrelevant supporting studies.

But prayer offers solace and comfort to many people. Religious communities can be part of a larger social network that keeps a person afloat with emotional support and outright assistance (see Social Support). By reinforcing positive emotions, religious belief might stimulate healthy physiological responses through complex nervous system pathways much as a constant flood of negative thoughts may set the opposite reaction in motion. And, of course, certain religions encourage better health habits, such as avoiding alcohol and tobacco. If prayer is meaningful to you, it can enhance the relaxation response and perhaps your health as well. You may want to use your favorite prayer or a phrase from it to help you focus. A FEW WORDS ON: UNEMPLOYMENT AND FAMILIES

I organized a delegation from Israel Aircraft Industries when the vote was taken for the Lavi Aircraft to visit some Ministers who voted against the continuation of the project which would have kept cutting edge aircraft technology in Israel and a plane as good as if not better than the F-16I but that is water under the bridge now some 21 plus years later. Among the delegation was current Kennesset Member Chaim Katz, A.N. chief of R&D today of the IAI Engineering Division two others and myself. We explained to the then minister R’ Peretz Shlita of Shass about what was happening with the workers. Two had fatal heart attacks, eventually years later a murder took place of an unemployed husband killing his wife, illnesses, depression, people leaving Israel for jobs in France, South Africa, the States, etc. Divorces occurred and families were miserable. People should be aware of this during these hard economic times and be a help either morally at minimum or even with small “loans” that might not ever be paid back.

“Fear Not For I Am With Thee"

Although the outside world these days seem filled with chaos and dark forces, it is better to view and focus on a more benevolent, peace-loving, compassionate world regardless of these outside influences. Do not discard your dreams of hope and courage amidst this chaos and confusion you are facing. Create the template for perseverance through strength and discernment.

All of us are surrounded by the lens through which to choose to view the world. If we choose to see through the lens of goodness, then goodness is the path upon which you will be led toward the destiny you are meant to fulfill. If we choose to see through the lens of challenges and negativity, then negativity will be the path through which you are led. Challenges and supports will fall on the trail of your life through the doorways or peepholes of your own perceptions.

These turbulent times are meant and sent as lessons to us all. We must recognize that all though humanity thinks that it is in control of everything, humanity is not. We cannot see this truth because our own limitations and egos are in the way. G-d is in control of everything. What we control is our determination to do either good or to do either evil in the Almighty's eyes. Throughout history we were been confronted with many chaotic times, chaotic times which caused darkness to descend upon the earth. Whatever one may name this chaos, it is our own negativity that eventually causes us the greatest stress. Stress will take you from this world and detour you from your true calling.

In short, follow the path of positive thinking no matter how dark and empty the world seems to you at this time. Negativity will shut up the wellsprings to spiritual and material bounty. Have faith that G-d knows what is good for you and will bring you through this time of uncertainty. He will not let you fall or faultier. He has you on His shoulders at all times. Positive thinking is a form of faith and trust in G-d. Faith and trust are the lights which will dispel much of the darkness in your lives. G-d is always with you and your faith and trust in Him will always open the gates of love, compassion, and bounty.

"PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF ISRAEL"

Inyanay Diyoma

After Iran started their reactor on Wednesday this week the news was worrisome but some good news: http://www.debka.com/headline.php?hid=5929

After Labor and Kadima leader Ehud Barak and Tzipi Livni refused to join his wall-t-wall national government, Israel's designated prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu has launched negotiations for a centrist government coalition supported by a parliamentary majority of 65 members of the right-of-center and religious parties. Three or four ministers will be drawn from outside political parties: Nathan Sharansky is Netanyahu's choice for the foreign ministry; governor of the Bank of Israel Stanley Fisher may be offered finance and a professional soldier or security figure is sought for defense.

The cabinet-making process was speeded up after Avigdor Lieberman, whose Israel Beteini endorsed Netanyahu's bid, decided he is not after any of those fiercely-contested top jobs. He prefers the ministry of industry, commerce and labor, with the possible addition of infrastructure and honorific of deputy prime minister.

Sharansky, a respected world figure whom the Soviet government sentenced to hard labor as a human rights activist and founder of the Jewish Refusenik movement in Moscow, was released in East Germany in 1986 and settled in Israel.

He served in various cabinet posts until 2006, when he established the Adelson Institute for Strategic Studies of the Shalem Institute, named for its sponsor the American tycoon Sheldon Adelson. One of its major projects is the promotion of democracy in Palestinian society. The former chief of staff and Likud newcomer (Ret.) Gen. Moshe Yaalon, a research associate, is one of the frontrunners for defense.

Sharanksy has won bipartisan US honors, including the 1986 Congressional Gold Medal and the 2008 Ronald Reagan Freedom Award and is exceptionally well connected with policy-shaping institutions in America. Sharansky would be a persuasive spokesman for the Netanyahu government's policies, especially on Palestinian issues, who would be heeded with respect by foreign governments.

The Likud leader is still in the early stages of lining up his cabinet and has not clinched any appointments as yet.

From an internet survey by my Congresswoman in a heavily Democratic district: Economic Stimulus - What do you think?

The President and the U.S. Congress acted responsibly by passing a stimulus package that will create or save more than 3 million jobs and get our economy back on track. 35.36%

The President and the U.S. Congress have acted totally irresponsibly by passing a huge deficit package that will bankrupt our children’s future. 43.17%

I agree and disagree with the statements above. I think we spent too much money on the stimulus package but doing nothing just would have been catastrophic. 18.89%

Observations from NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope hint that all forms of light may not travel through space at the same speed. Very-high-energy gamma rays may be slowed down as they propagate through the quantum turbulence of space-time. If future observations bear this out, it will rock the foundations of modern physics, and perhaps point the way to a "theory of everything" that would help unify the twin pillars of 20th-century physics: Einstein’s general theory of relativity and quantum mechanics. http://www.skyandtelescope.com/news/39867717.html

From Chaim B: BARONESS DEECH'S SPEECH IN THE HOUSE OF LORDS

Baroness Deech (Crossbench) | Hansard source

My Lord, I recently heard a speech by President Peres of Israel. He said that if we look back 50 years, who would have imagined then that the Soviet Empire would have ended, that the South African system of apartheid would have been dismantled and Mandela would have become president, that the Berlin Wall would have come down and that there would be a black president of America? He said that we should look forward 50 years from now in the same spirit. I want to start on that optimistic note because I believe that if we wait that long*no doubt beyond our lifetimes*there will be change for the better. I want to emphasize that because inevitably much of my speech
will be rather gloomy.

No one can accuse this House of not focusing on the distressing situation in Gaza. In the past 12 months, there have been 161 Questions and Statements about Israel, Gaza and the Palestinians compared with, for example, 33 on Sri Lanka and 24 on Tibet. I mention Sri Lanka in particular because noble Lords will be aware that recently there was a well attended protest in Parliament Square about the terrible attacks on the Tamils, the hospitals under siege, the killing of 70,000 people and the many more thousands who are trapped and displaced from their homes. This has attracted little opprobrium and no calls for the obliteration of Sri Lanka or talk of its brutalization..

I raise that because I am interested in the particular focus on the Middle East that is expressed in this country. Part of the reason is that the war in Gaza has not been seen in perspective, but only as a minute fragment of what is, in truth, a larger picture. There is a wider war, of which Israel and Gaza are figureheads, and there is also a civil war. The talk about what is proportionate*I prefer the word "necessary"*has to be seen in the context of a response to an attack from Hamas designed not just to launch rockets at
Israel*5,000 rockets deliberately aimed at Israeli civilians and schoolchildren at 7.45 in the morning*but to end the state of Israel.

Hamas has vowed to have an Islamic state over Gaza, the West Bank and Israel as part of a wider Islamic empire. Israel has a 20 per cent Arab population, but not one Jew is to be allowed to live in this Islamic state. We can well imagine the fate planned for the millions of Israelis were this to come about. The response from Israel was, if anything, as restrained as it possibly could be. We should recall the detailed precautions taken by the Israeli army to avoid wherever possible harm to civilians, bearing in mind the use of mosques, schools and hospitals, as has been referred to earlier today.

The charges of "disproportionate" were not made in relation to other wars that we have recently experienced; Kosovo, Georgia, Iraq or even Afghanistan, where people have died in their thousands. In fact, there has been some praise for the restraint that Israel has shown in trying to avoid civilian casualties. There is also a civil war in Gaza, which makes the prospects of peace unrealistic. The military dictatorship there did nothing to protect its own subjects, but took the opportunity of war to eliminate many of its Fatah political opponents. Other noble Lords have referred to the very cruel details of this. Even the Palestinian Authority's President Abbas said:

"Hamas has taken risks with the blood of Palestinians, with their fate and dreams and aspirations for an independent Palestinian state".

The wider war is one of destruction of Israel, and those who criticize Israel's attack on Gaza must realise that they are unwittingly giving succor to that plan. Syria, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Hamas all share that same aim of destroying Israel entirely and, indeed, Hamas has thanked Iran for its support in the Gaza war. As others have mentioned, the result has been that Jews all over the world have suffered for this. The attacks on Jews that have taken place
here in the UK and elsewhere illustrate my theme of a wider war. It is Jews and synagogues in London and Venezuela, in universities, to their shame, and streets, that are attacked, with Gaza as the excuse, not Israelis. It is not Jews who see all criticism of Israel as anti-Semitism; it is some of the critics of Israel who vent their displeasure on Jews in general. The hatred of Israel, and sometimes Jews, is almost unique in international politics.

Then there is the propaganda war. I urge noble Lords not to believe all that they read in the newspapers about damage and killings in Gaza. We do not have the evidence. I cite just one case. The tragic killing of the three daughters of the respected Gazan doctor Izzeldin Abuelaish now seems to have been by Gazan rockets, not Israeli fire, according to the post-mortem examination of the fragments of their bodies.

On the humanitarian front, of course, it is exacerbated, because Hamas wanted civilian deaths to increase its worldwide exposure and sympathy. Humanitarian aid is another area where the wrong and pessimistic view has been taken. I noted with interest and approval that the BBC refused to screen the advertisement for aid and that it was backed by its own NUJ branch of journalists. It is not so good to hear talk of a Zionist lobby and Jews mugging protests and stemming disquiet in the United States, when you consider the very small numbers that there are. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency has a huge budget. We do not yet know what happened to the
millions that Arafat salted away and took to his death. We note the failure of other Arab countries to come to the aid of their brothers. The oil revenue of the Gulf States in 2008 was $562 billion; in Saudi Arabia it was $260 billion*one day's oil revenue would work a miracle for the West Bank and Gaza, but this is not forthcoming.

On the humanitarian front, Israel's Supreme Court in the past few days, a court known for its robustness, has examined the application of the Geneva conventions on humanitarian law and found them not to have been breached. Other Arab countries have not only not helped but have literally turned their backs on the Palestinians, as one can read regarding Syria in the report in the Times today.

What of the future? Gaza could have had a future. Every Israeli soldier and civilian was removed from there. Everything was ready for the Gazans a few years ago to start a new period of economic development. There was no blockade, and it remains true that Egypt could open its crossing if it wanted to. It does not, of course, because it no more wants an Iranian state on its borders than Israel does. Instead the rockets and the tunnels came, and the sad destruction of the very greenhouses where flowers and fruit were grown and could have continued to be grown.

What can the UK do? It can support Egypt, which is acting very well in this crisis, albeit for its own reasons of survival. It can help block Hamas from smuggling more arms by sea. It can press for the release of Gilad Shalit, who has been a hostage in Gaza for two and a half years with no access to the Red Cross or any other international agency. It can persuade Hamas to change the charter and remove mention of destruction. Above all, your Lordships should lend your voices to the end of the demonization of Israel
and to calm down the surging anti-Semitism. Your Lordships should recognise the need of Israel to exist and its legitimacy. It is no more arriviste in the Middle East than the other 22 Arab states to be found there. There can be no further removal of six million Jews from the Middle East. We must do nothing to feed the hatred that surrounds this issue and we must do everything to look to the future.

PUZZLING QUESTIONS FOR PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA by Emanuel A. Winston, Mid East analyst & commentator

Perhaps there are better minds who can assemble a growing puzzle as to the complete picture of the man. The following is not necessarily in sequence:

Why would a sitting President allocate $23 Million Dollars out of a bail-out Stimulus package for Americas crashing economy to import Hamas connected Palestinians? Mr. President, will you deny, confirm or remain silent?

Here we are reminded of the U.S. State Department doctrine of assisting Arab Muslims - even from known nations hostile to America to gain entry to the U.S. after to over-stay their temporary visa with no attempt to find and deport them.(1)

That brings to mind the 9/11 Terrorists - 15 Saudis and 4 Egyptians who were given easy entry into America, flying lessons, easy living conditions only to then blow-up the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and the 4th plane headed back to Washington when the passengers overpowered the Terrorists crashing the plane in Pennsylvania.

One is also reminded of when Richard Nixon helped bring Nazi war criminals into America. Please see "The Nixon-Bush Nazi Connection" by Mark Aarons and John Loftus from August 2004 "Press for Conversion!" reprinted at end of this article. (2)

They describe the details of importing Nazis into America. This is analogous to President Barack Hussein Obama spending $23 Million Dollars from the bail-out Trillion Dollar Stimulus package to bring in Muslim Arab Hamas Palestinian Terrorists. As you read it, keep in mind the State Department doctrine permitting Muslims to freely flow into America, too many of whom proved to be Terrorists.

Why has President Barak Obama allocated Millions (possibly Billions) to fund the ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) network considered a crooked organization which assisted Obamas run for the Presidency? Why keep them in operation once their illegal activities were exposed? What is the future role to be assigned to their network and how does it fit with the Presidents goals?

Why was Obama so anxious to turn loose some of the most dedicated Muslim Islamic Terrorists from Guantanamo? Would Americas reputation improve among foreign nations if they were transferred to High Security Prisons in Leavenworth, Kansas or Marion, Illinois?

What was the full testimony of Syrian-born Antoin "Tony" Rezko with respect to funding Obama through the years and nurturing his political career? Given that Rezko is now a convicted felon who bribed politicians, what did he expect from the Obamas and what did he receive?

Then there was the extremely hostile-to-America Al Mansour, known to be deeply connected to the Saudis as a recipient of their money, some of which paved the career path of Barack Obama.

When Obama refused to make available his original birth certificate, confirming his origin of birth, who in high places of the American government acted as the enablers to keep this ordinary information hidden? Was it the State Department, in collusion with the CIA, FBI, NSA, et al.? Who would have the power to order the suppression of such information and why?

Although many suits have been filed, all the way up to the Supreme Court, why have not these suits been heard? Why has Obama and his "team" employed powerful attorneys to quash all suits and inquiries into Obamas place of birth, with attending original documents? Why have his school records been similarly suppressed when even Congressmen and other American legislators been available to the public?

We are reminded of the era of WWII when advocates of Hitlers goals colluded to either assist or block retribution of what the Nazis did under Hitlers doctrine aimed at World Conquest for 1000 year "Third Reich". Names like George Ball, Allen Dulles (head of the CIA) and John Foster Dulles (Secretary of State), Papa George Herbert Walker Bush (former Head of the CIA, Vice President, President), and major corporations that assisted the German Nazi War effort - like the Henry Ford companies, General Motors, Du Pont, Daimler-Benz, Siemens, General Electric, Standard Oil, and more. (3)

Another source lists many of those mentioned above and many various industries is "Nazis in the Attic" by Randy Davis at http://www.emperors-clothes.com/articles/randy/swas1.htm.(4)

Subversion was rife, either for business or ideology as fellow travelers. In brief, can that shameful history being repeated now to appease radical Islamic goals? Is todays business the matter of subverting Americas safety for oil with Arabists in the State Department playing puppet master to a President whose basic sympathies lie with Islam and Sharia Law for Americans?

Is the multi-Trillion Dollar Stimulus package meant not so much as to save America as a democracy but, to evolve a Socialistic regime following Obamas early mentors who hated our capitalistic-driven economy?

Is part of this "subverting of the American way" the reason Obama ordered all sanctions against Iran dropped? Is America to then be subservient to a Nuclear Iran who can control MidEast oil or arm its Terrorist extremists who can plant nuclear devices around America then able to dictate obedience? (Perhaps these devices are already here, thanks to "sleeper cells" of Islamists allowed in by the State Department.)

Some will recall the recent December 3, 2007 false report by the NIE (National Intelligence Estimate) wherein the State Department, in collusion with the CIA, offered a report that Iran had ceased making nuclear fissile material and, therefore, President Bush had no right to attack Irans Nuclear facilities or even to allow Israel the material and logistical assistance she would need to do so.

I forwarded with my own comments the Dec. 6, 2007 article by Caroline Glick who said: "The US National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) on Iran's nuclear intentions is the political version of a tactical nuclear strike on efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear bombs.(5)

I have long contended in many articles over time that there is an operative "Shadow Government" in Washington, far more influential than the elected government. The recent NIE (National Intelligence Estimate) report indicates just how powerful this "Shadow Government" is.

It appears that this secretive coalition is coming out of the closet. President Ronald Reagan once coined the phrase "The Evil Empire" referring to the enemies of democracy and America. Today he would have included those who have infiltrated the American government, something akin to when President Ike Eisenhower warned against the Military-Industrial Complex running just below the radar of public and Congressional scrutiny.

The NIE report (that Iran shut down its nuclear weapons development program in 2003) as driven by the State Department who inserted agents inside the 16 Intelligence Agencies to push their own agenda, are only part of the subversion of national policy by a "Shadow Government".

Prof. Daniel Pipes wrote in the Jerusalem Post of December 13, 2007 "That NIE Makes War Against Iran More Likely". He said: "With the December 3, 2007 publication of a completely unexpected declassified National Intelligence Estimate (NIE), "Iran: Nuclear Intentions and Capabilities," a consensus has emerged that war with Iran "now appears to be off the agenda." Indeed, Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, claimed the report dealt a "fatal blow" to the country's enemies, while his foreign ministry spokesman called it a "great victory." As Pipes lists: "Other analysts - John Bolton, Patrick Clawson, Gary Milhollin, Caroline Glick, Claudia Rossett, Michael Rubin and Gerald Steinberg have skillfully dissected and refuted this shoddy, politicized, outrageous parody of a piece of propaganda." (6)

That NIE bit of dirty work was proven to be disinformation propaganda for which the head of the CIA apologized to Congress. By then it was too late. The Arabists had won and Iran was allowed to continue at an increased speed to complete its Nuclear Weaponization.

This follows the path of what Nixons pro-Nazis had done; what State has been doing over the years and now proceeds with the continuing Islamization of America under Obama and his advisory team of Arabists. All of this is on the record if you care to look.

Is this the New World Order, originally spoken about by former President George Herbert Walker Bush? Is Obama merely one of a series of successive Presidents who signed on to the concept of all nations under one rule with a few Super Powers in control of all resources?

Strangely, I thought about this 30 years ago, with the U.S. and the then Soviet Union dividing the worlds resources. The safety of the world was held in precarious balance by M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction). Two Super Powers held enough nuclear weapons to destroy each other and the world.

At that time I thought the trigger to a world calamity would be a nuclear exchange among smaller countries, forcing the two Super Powers to issue a stand-down order to delete their nuclear capability with the threat of destroying those nations who refused. China was not a player at that time.

The idea was self-serving, to protect themselves and divide the worlds resources in energy, clean water, raw materials, trade routes, etc. For that the Super Powers would become the worlds pallbearers. Perhaps that might have worked, theoretically, but, times have changed and there are numerous nuclear capable nations, some of whom are radical, uncontrollable - like North Korea, Iran, etc.

So much for the New World Order advocates. As for our new President Barack Obama, feel free to add to my questions or answer them.

"The Nixon-Bush Nazi Connection" By Mark Aarons and John Loftus

August 2004 Issue # 54 Press for Conversion!

Richard Nixons political career began in 1945, when as a navy officer he was assigned to review some captured Nazi documents. Allen Dulles told Nixon to keep quiet about what he had seen and, in return, arranged to finance the young mans first congressional campaign. The documents that Dulles was eager to cover up concerned Karl Blessing, the former Reichsbank officer and then head of the Nazi oil cartel called Kontinentale 01 AG, or "Konti." Konti was in partnership with Allen and John Foster Dulles principal Nazi client, I.G. Farben, the infamous chemical/weapons producer.

Both companies had despicable records regarding their complicity with the Nazis and their ill treatment of Jews during the Holocaust. Dulles was also covering up for Blessing in order to protect continued control of German oil interests in the Middle East. Blessings Konti was the Nazi link to King Ibn Saud [whose family was empowered to rule the Arabian peninsula thanks to Nazi collaborators

within British and U.S. intelligence] and Aramco (the Arab-American Oil Co.). If Blessing went down,

he could have taken a lot of people with him, including Allen Dulles.

The Dulles brothers took Nixon under their wing and escorted him on a tour of fascist, "freedom fighter" operations in Germany. When Truman was reelected in 1948, Nixon became Allen Dulles mouthpiece in Congress. Both Nixon and Senator Joseph McCarthy received volumes of classified information to support the charge that the Truman administration was filled with "pinkos."

When McCarthy went too far in his Communist investigations, it was Nixon who worked with CIA director Bedell Smith, to steer investigations away from the intelligence community. The CIA was grateful for Nixons assistance. Dulles had been recruiting Nazis under the cover of the State Departments Office of Policy Coordination, whose chief, Frank Wisner, had systematically recruited the Eastern European émigré networks that had worked for the Nazi SS.

[Editors(Aarons & Loftus) Note: Since WWII, these Nazi émigrés have been instrumental in many U.S. government covert operations including drug and weapons smuggling, Latin American death squads and proto-fascist regimes, LSD mind control experiments (like MKULTRA), the Republican National Committees Ethnic Heritage Councils as well as the presidential campaigns of Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.]

Once in the U.S., the Nazi émigrés quickly set to work to get out the "ethnic" vote for the Republicans. In preparation for the 1952 Eisenhower-Nixon campaign, the Republicans formed an Ethnic Division, which recruited the "displaced fascists" who had arrived after WWII. The Ethnic Division attracted a significant number of Central and Eastern European Nazis, who had been recruited by the SS as political and police leaders during the Holocaust. These fascist émigrés supported the Eisenhower-Nixon "liberation" policy as the quickest means of trying to get back into power in their former homelands.

In 1953, when the Republicans were in office, the immigration laws were changed to admit Nazis, even members of the SS. They flooded into the U.S. Nixon oversaw the new immigration program. As vice president, he received Eastern European fascists in the White House. After a long, long journey, these Nazis had found a new home in the U.S., where they re-established their networks.

In 1968, Nixon promised that if he became president, he would create a permanent ethnic council within the Republican Party. Previously the Ethnic Division was allowed to surface only during presidential campaigns. Nixons promise was carried out after the 1972 election, during George H.W. Bushs tenure as chairman of the Republican National Committee.

The Croatian Ustashis, along with several other Fascist organizations, became an integral part of the campaign structure of Republican politics. When Nixon was forced to resign as a result of the Watergate scandal, Bush was transferred from his post as head of the Republican National Committee to director of the CIA to ensure that Nixons garbage remained buried.

Keeping the lid on the Nazi scandal was no easy matter. As director of the CIA from December 1975 to January 1977, Bush was up to his ears in fascists. In 1976, after 23 years in the White House, the Republicans issued a secret memo that recognized the valuable contribution made by the Ethnic

Division of the party over the years, especially in defeating the Democrats in 1952. The irony is that the ethnic fascists never played a credible role in winning any election and, in later years, caused the Republican party considerable embarrassment when pieces of the Nazi connection began to surface.

He is the author of "War Criminals Welcome: Australia, A Sanctuary for Fugitive War Criminals since 1945" (Black Inc., 2001), "Sanctuary: Nazi fugitives in Australia" (W. President Obama's Secretary of Labor nominee Hilda Solis may be the next one to fall. Hans A. von Spakovsky at the Weekly Standard explains: "Not only was she involved with a private organization that was lobbying her fellow legislators on a bill that she has cosponsored, but she apparently kept her involvement secret and failed to reveal a clear conflict of interest."

Most Europeans and Americans are not keenly aware that Iran is on track to having the ability to threaten Kuwait City, Riyadh, Dubai, Istanbul, Athens, Rome, Berlin, Paris, London, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles with nuclear weapons. They are oblivious to the ultimate aim of the Iranian nuclear weapons program: to transform Iran into the dominant global superpower by enabling its regime to attain hegemonic control of the petroleum production of all of the Gulf region's oil states, while preventing the West from taking military action against Iran by deploying missiles that can obliterate Western cities. Instead, Americans and Europeans

Remember the so-called "National Intelligence Estimate" on Iran -- the one that gave Ahmadinejad and company critical breathing room to push ahead toward obtaining nuclear weapons to threaten America and our allies?

Heavily hyped at the time, that report has now been so discredited that even MSM outlets have taken notice.

After that fiasco, President Obama ought to be demanding that the aide overseeing intelligence estimates and other critical intelligence work product be an individual who has demonstrated superior judgment and disinterestedness.

That's why recent reports are so deeply troubling.

The influential news web site Politico.com reports that Obama has selected Charles "Chas" Freeman to be chairman of the National Intelligence Council and Freeman has accepted.

Who is Chas Freeman?

Is this the quality of judgment and insight President Obama is looking for in the person who will supervise medium and long-term strategic thinking and planning across the panoply of agencies involved in intelligence operations?

Fortunately, until it's formally announced, this action is not final, but since the post of NIC Chairman is not subject to congressional approval, it could occur at any time.

Take Action:

Tell President Obama that Chas Freeman is an unacceptable choice for the job of National Intelligence Council chairman:
