Parsha vayeitzei, miracle stories during war, news updates

Whom ever supplied me with the name for prayer Natan Chaim ben Emunah please contact me directly or through Rachamim HaRav Pauli on Facebook on the status as one could have finished Chemo Therapy or more by this time.

Again, more miracle stories in the war like the dove that landed on the trip wire in the pier just before the soldiers were about to go down. There are more miracles like this that I had to skip the usual stories.

Parsha Vayeitzei

Rivka keeps Esav from planning to murder Yacov and convinces Yitzchak to send him to her brother for a Shidduch. So our Parsha continues precisely as Yacov sets out with a blessing from Yitzchak.

28:10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.

Rashi says because the daughters of Canaan were displeasing to Yitzchak.

11 And he lighted upon the place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of the place, and put it under his head, and lay down in that place to sleep.

Rashi says that the place is Har Moriah.

He surrounded his head with stones for protection from animals.

12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven; and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

Rabbi Simcha HaCohain Kuk ZTZAL said that they were angels of Esav and Yacov with Esav’s going up 2000 plus rungs and Yacov down trodden. Based on the end of the Parsha they were the guardian angels of Eretz Yisrael vs those of Chutz LaAretz.

13 And, behold, the LORD stood beside him, and said: 'I am the LORD, the God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac. The land whereon thou lie, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed. 14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south. And in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

This is the destination of you and your seed.

15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee whithersoever thou go, and will bring thee back into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.'

Even in Gallus I will be with you whether active or hidden. It is I that protects you.

16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said: 'Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.' 17 And he was afraid, and said: 'How full of awe is this place! this is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.'

He did not know that he slept on the same spot as the Akedah.

18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

Before there were twelve stones, during the night, they fused into one stone called the “Even Steyah” Google “Foundation Stone”.

19 And he called the name of that place Beth-el, but the name of the city was Luz at the first.

Literally, “The house of G-D”. The area called Luz was known for the fact that people always told the truth and death had no power there. Those who felt their time was up would leave the town and die. Talmud on a legend of Rebbe Meir Baal HaNes.

20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying: 'If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, 21 so that I come back to my father's house in peace, then shall the LORD be my God,

Yacov only wants a simple garment to wear, food to eat and does not even ask for a tent to live in. Only the bare minimum for survival. When I return, then this place will be the House of G-D.

22 and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God's house; and of all that Thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto Thee.'

I will give tithe unto thee in the form of Tzeduka.

29:1 Then Jacob went on his journey, and came to the land of the children of the east. 2 And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, three flocks of sheep lying there by it.--For out of that well they watered the flocks. And the stone upon the well's mouth was great. 3 And thither were all the flocks gathered; and they rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone back upon the well's mouth in its place.-- 4 And Jacob said unto them: 'My brethren, whence are ye?' And they said: 'Of Haran are we.'

Wonderful, Yacov has reached his destination and this is the same well where Eliezer met his mother Rivka for a Shidduch with his father. (He did have a guide with him, Devorah his mother’s nurse.)

5 And he said unto them: 'Know ye Laban the son of Nahor?' And they said: 'We know him.' 6 And he said unto them: 'Is it well with him?' And they said: 'It is well; and, behold, Rachel his daughter comes with the sheep.'

Not only do we know Laban but HASHEM has brought to you this day Rachel, his daughter.

7 And he said: 'Lo, it is yet high day, neither is it time that the cattle should be gathered together; water ye the sheep, and go and feed them.' 8 And they said: 'We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and they roll the stone from the well's mouth; then we water the sheep.'

It takes a lot of men to move this stone.

9 While he was yet speaking with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep; for she tended them. 10 And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother.

Genesis Rabbah says that he had great strength. I believe that Yacov had discovered the principle in physics of using a fulcrum stone under his shepherd’s crook to move the larger stone.

11 And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.

Yacov grabs her, hugs her and gives her a kiss. I don’t know about anybody else but I think that before he kissed her, he revealed his family relationship. Otherwise how would a young maid like Rachel feel that some foreigner came up and hugged and kissed her in public in the Middle East. But if he was a cousin or uncle then that is a different story.

12 And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father's brother, and that he was Rebekah's son; and she ran and told her father.

There is no early or late in the Torah and this happened either simultaneously as he going to hug and kiss her.

13 And it came to pass, when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister's son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. And he told Laban all these things.

He gave him a French Kiss to see if he jewels in his teeth and frisked him with a hug to look for money and jewelry on his person.

14 And Laban said to him: 'Surely thou art my bone and my flesh.' And he abode with him the space of a month. 15 And Laban said unto Jacob: 'Because thou art my brother, shouldest thou therefore serve me for nought? tell me, what shall thy wages be?'

He is given a chance to mention his terms for wages. But Yacov is not too much interested in these worldly goods.

16 Now Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel. 17 And Leah's eyes were weak; but Rachel was of beautiful form and fair to look upon. 18 And Jacob loved Rachel; and he said: 'I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.'

Why doesn’t he reverse the order and say I will marry and Rachel and serve seven years for her? She was 15 at this time and ripe enough by Biblical Standards to marry so why wait until she was 22years old? Seder HaOlam gives her age of 22 upon marriage. Yacov was 77 when he came to Lavan. He was 63 at the time of the blessing and fleeing Beer Sheva and then he learned for 14years with Shem and Ever. He was 84 when he married.

19 And Laban said: 'It is better that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man; abide with me.' 20 And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.

Yacov loved her but waited and worked seven years.

21 And Jacob said unto Laban: 'Give me my wife, for my days are filled, that I may go in unto her.' 22 And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast. 23 And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he went in unto her. 24 And Laban gave Zilpah his handmaid unto his daughter Leah for a handmaid.

We saw all sorts of tricks this week with the ceasefire with Hamas and prisoner exchange being delayed for pretense reasons. Lavan did not have any outside pressure so he was extra tricky with Yacov.

25 And it came to pass in the morning that, behold, it was Leah; and he said to Laban: 'What is this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?'

My marriage to Leah is a false agreement. Accidental purchases can be returned immediately.

26 And Laban said: 'It is not so done in our place, to give the younger before the first-born. 27 Fulfil the week of this one, and we will give thee the other also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.'

This time the week is seven days and then he is married to Rachel. Before Matan Torah, one could marry two sisters at the same time.

28 And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week; and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife. 29 And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her handmaid.

I heard from Rabbi Tovia Muskin Zal that Lavan had the servant girls through his maid servant and they were four paternal sisters.

30 And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years. 31 And the LORD saw that Leah was hated, and he opened her womb; but Rachel was barren. 32 And Leah conceived, and bore a son, and she called his name Reuben; for she said: 'Because the LORD hath looked upon my affliction; for now, my husband will love me.'

Literally see I have a son.

33 And she conceived again, and bore a son; and said: 'Because the LORD hath heard that I am hated, He hath therefore given me this son also.' And she called his name Simeon.

The root is listen or hear HE has heard me.

34 And she conceived again, and bore a son; and said: 'Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have borne him three sons.' Therefore, was his name called Levi.

Lev is heart so now I will have my husband’s heart – but actually he is with Rachel. Only after Rachel passes and the two maid servants are gone does Yacov spend his time with Leah. Although he respects her as we see him consulting with her and Rachel later on in this Parsha.

35 And she conceived again, and bore a son; and she said: 'This time will I praise the LORD.' Therefore, she called his name Judah; and she left off bearing.

She has letters of the L-Rd’s name in his name.

30:1 And when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and she said unto Jacob: 'Give me children, or else I die.' 2 And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel; and he said: 'Am I in God's stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?' 3 And she said: 'Behold my maid Bilhah, go in unto her; that she may bear upon my knees, and I also may be built up through her.'

Rachel it is no joking matter that you don’t have children but I have already four sons with Leah so it is not my fault.

4 And she gave him Bilhah her handmaid to wife; and Jacob went in unto her. 5 And Bilhah conceived, and bore Jacob a son. 6 And Rachel said: 'God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son.' Therefore, called she his name Dan.

I have been judged favorably.

7 And Bilhah Rachel's handmaid conceived again, and bore Jacob a second son. 8 And Rachel said: 'With mighty wrestling have I wrestled with my sister, and have prevailed.' And she called his name Naphtali.

From the wrestling competition of children from Yacov.

9 When Leah saw that she had left off bearing, she took Zilpah her handmaid, and gave her to Jacob to wife. 10 And Zilpah Leah's handmaid bore Jacob a son. 11 And Leah said: 'Fortune is come!' And she called his name Gad.

Gad means goat normally but also means luck.

12 And Zilpah Leah's handmaid bore Jacob a second son. 13 And Leah said: 'Happy am I! for the daughters will call me happy.' And she called his name Asher.

Expressing her joy and happiness.

14 And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah: 'Give me, I pray thee, of thy son's mandrakes.' 15 And she said unto her: 'Is it a small matter that thou hast taken away my husband? and would thou take away my son's mandrakes also?' And Rachel said: 'Therefore he shall lie with thee to-night for thy son's mandrakes.'

With all his wives poor Leah was probably left out of the romantic circle.

16 And Jacob came from the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said: 'Thou must come in unto me; for I have surely hired thee with my son's mandrakes.' And he lay with her that night. 17 And God hearkened unto Leah, and she conceived, and bore Jacob a fifth son. 18 And Leah said: 'God hath given me my hire, because I gave my handmaid to my husband. And she called his name Issachar.

He is my payment to my husband for the mandrakes.

19 And Leah conceived again, and bore a sixth son to Jacob. 20 And Leah said: 'God hath endowed me with a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have borne him six sons.' And she called his name Zebulun.

He is like a festive party.

21 And afterwards she bore a daughter, and called her name Dinah.

She is female a Din or judgement from HASHEM.

22 And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb. 23 And she conceived, and bore a son, and said: 'God hath taken away my reproach.' 24 And she called his name Joseph, saying: 'The LORD add to me another son.'

HASHEM should gather unto me another son.

25 And it came to pass, when Rachel had borne Joseph, that Jacob said unto Laban: 'Send me away, that I may go unto mine own place, and to my country. 26 Give me my wives and my children for whom I have served thee, and let me go; for thou know my service wherewith I have served thee.' 27 And Laban said unto him: 'If now I have found favor in thine eyes--I have observed the signs, and the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake.' 28 And he said: 'Appoint me thy wages, and I will give it.'

HASHEM has blessed Lavan for Yacov’s sake. Before Yacov came he was not so wealthy and had no sons. Now since Yacov came, Lavan sired sons and Yacov took off his hands four daughters. Also his flocks have increased.

29 And he said unto him: 'Thou know how I have served thee, and how thy cattle have fared with me. 30 For it was little which thou had before I came, and it hath increased abundantly; and the LORD hath blessed thee whithersoever I turned. And now when shall I provide for mine own house also?' 31 And he said: 'What shall I give thee?' And Jacob said: 'Thou shalt not give me aught; if thou wilt do this thing for me, I will again feed thy flock and keep it. 32 I will pass through all thy flock to-day, removing from thence every speckled and spotted one, and every dark one among the sheep, and the spotted and speckled among the goats; and of such shall be my hire.

As with a lot of Middle Eastern agreements Lavan doesn’t like it and wants to change it.

33 So shall my righteousness witness against me hereafter, when thou shalt come to look over my hire that is before thee: every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and dark among the sheep, that if found with me shall be counted stolen.'

Now Lavan thinks this contract will be better.

34 And Laban said: 'Behold, would it might be according to thy word.' 35 And he removed that day the he-goats that were streaked and spotted, and all the she-goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had white in it, and all the dark ones among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons.

Since Lavan is their grandfather, he will trust them and they are giving him love back and will not harm them.

36 And he set three days' journey betwixt himself and Jacob. And Jacob fed the rest of Laban's flocks. 37 And Jacob took him rods of fresh poplar, and of the almond and of the plane-tree; and peeled white streaks in them, making the white appear which was in the rods. 38 And he set the rods which he had peeled over against the flocks in the gutters in the watering-troughs where the flocks came to drink; and they conceived when they came to drink. 39 And the flocks conceived at the sight of the rods, and the flocks brought forth streaked, speckled, and spotted.

He knew the secret that is what the mother thinks at conception that is how the child will be born. So the weaker sheep got the unicolored pool

40 And Jacob separated the lambs--he also set the faces of the flocks toward the streaked and all the dark in the flock of Laban--and put his own droves apart, and put them not unto Laban's flock. 41 And it came to pass, whensoever the stronger of the flock did conceive, that Jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the flock in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods;

So the stronger sheep would see the rods reflecting as they began to drink and as they bent over the males came.

42 but when the flock were feeble, he put them not in; so, the feebler were Laban's, and the stronger Jacob's. 43 And the man increased exceedingly, and had large flocks, and maid-servants and men-servants, and camels and asses. 31:1 And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying: 'Jacob hath taken away all that was our father's; and of that which was our father's hath he gotten all this wealth.'

They would only have straight rods or no rods.

2 And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and, behold, it was not toward him as beforetime.

Lavan saw the herds that Yacov had and did not say that these 12 grandchildren will enjoy them but only saw that he would not have them.

3 And the LORD said unto Jacob: 'Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee.' 4 And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock, 5 and said unto them: 'I see your father's countenance, that it is not toward me as beforetime; but the God of my father hath been with me.

Despite what the competition was with Rachel and Leah, he loved her enough to consult with her as an equal partner with her competing sister Rachel. Bilhah and Zilpah are not consulted.

6 And ye know that with all my power I have served your father. 7 And your father hath mocked me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me. 8 If he said thus: The speckled shall be thy wages; then all the flock bore speckled; and if he said thus: The streaked shall be thy wages; then bore all the flock streaked. 9 Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me.

Lavan and become right through the dowry of Rivka from Avraham and what belongs to

Avraham’s legacy was now returning to Yacov.

10 And it came to pass at the time that the flock conceived, that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the he-goats which leaped upon the flock were streaked, speckled, and grizzled. 11 And the angel of God said unto me in the dream: Jacob; and I said: Here am I. 12 And he said: Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the he-goats which leap upon the flock are streaked, speckled, and grizzled; for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee. 13 I am the God of Beth-el, where thou didst anoint a pillar, where thou didst vow a vow unto Me. Now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy nativity.'

Note in Eretz Yisrael the dream is more spiritual vision and outside of Israel, the dream is more with earthly matters in it.

14 And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him: 'Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house? 15 Are we not accounted by him strangers? for he hath sold us, and hath also quite devoured our price. 16 For all the riches which God hath taken away from our father, that is ours and our children's. Now then, whatsoever God hath said unto thee, do.'

Don’t we deserve something? For our first 15 plus years we were the sole inheritors of our father.

17 Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives upon the camels; 18 and he carried away all his cattle, and all his substance which he had gathered, the cattle of his getting, which he had gathered in Paddan-aram, to go to Isaac his father unto the land of Canaan. 19 Now Laban was gone to shear his sheep. And Rachel stole the teraphim that were her father's.

She wanted that he would not worship idols.

20 And Jacob outwitted Laban the Aramean, in that he told him not that he fled. 21 So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up, and passed over the River, and set his face toward the mountain of Gilead. 22 And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled. 23 And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey; and he overtook him in the mountain of Gilead. 24 And God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream of the night, and said unto him: 'Take heed to thyself that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.'

He is warned by HASHEM.

25 And Laban came up with Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mountain; and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mountain of Gilead. 26 And Laban said to Jacob: 'What hast thou done, that thou hast outwitted me, and carried away my daughters as though captives of the sword? 27 Wherefore didst thou flee secretly, and outwit me; and didst not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth and with songs, with tabret (lute, bazuki or banjo type of instrument) and with harp; 28 and didst not suffer me to kiss my sons and my daughters? now hast thou done foolishly.

Pretext (even though I am a grandfather and can understand this excuse).

29 It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt; but the God of your father spoke unto me yesternight, saying: Take heed to thyself that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

Now the truth comes out of Lavan’s mouth for the first time.

30 And now that thou art surely gone, because thou sore longest after thy father's house, wherefore hast thou stolen my gods?' 31 And Jacob answered and said to Laban: 'Because I was afraid; for I said: Lest thou shouldest take thy daughters from me by force.

And Yacov is justified in being afraid of Lavan and his posy.

32 With whomsoever thou find thy gods, he shall not live; before our brethren discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee.'--For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them.

She would die in childbirth for this.

33 And Laban went into Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the tent of the two maid-servants; but he found them not. And he went out of Leah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent. 34 Now Rachel had taken the teraphim, and put them in the saddle of the camel, and sat upon them. And Laban felt about all the tent, but found them not. 35 And she said to her father: 'Let not my lord be angry that I cannot rise up before thee; for the manner of women is upon me.' And he searched, but found not the teraphim.

So he by-passed Rachel.

36 And Jacob was wroth, and strove with Laban. And Jacob answered and said to Laban: 'What is my trespass? what is my sin, that thou hast hotly pursued after me? 37 Whereas thou hast felt about all my stuff, what hast thou found of all thy household stuff? Set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may judge betwixt us two.

Why have you searched all my belongings looking under the pretext that somebody sole your idol.

38 These twenty years have I been with thee; thy ewes and thy she-goats have not cast their young, and the rams of thy flocks have I not eaten. 39 That which was torn of beasts I brought not unto thee; I bore the loss of it; of my hand didst thou require it, whether stolen by day or stolen by night. 40 Thus I was: in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep fled from mine eyes. 41 These twenty years have I been in thy house: I served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy flock; and thou hast changed my wages ten times.

I have always made good from my pocket any losses on your behalf.

42 Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the Fear of Isaac, had been on my side, surely now had thou sent me away empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labor of my hands, and gave judgment yesternight.'

If G-D was not with me, you might have sent me away without wives and children and completely empty handed if I lived.

43 And Laban answered and said unto Jacob: 'The daughters are my daughters, and the children are my children, and the flocks are my flocks, and all that thou see is mine; and what can I do this day for these my daughters, or for their children whom they have borne?

44 And now come, let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be for a witness between me and thee.' 45 And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar. 46 And Jacob said unto his brethren: 'Gather stones'; and they took stones, and made a heap. And they did eat there by the heap. 47 And Laban called it Jegar-sahadutha; but Jacob called it Galeed.

Gal is a heap, pile or gathering and Aid is witness. I did not change the original spelling of the 1917 translation.

48 And Laban said: 'This heap is witness between me and thee this day.' Therefore, was the name of it called Galeed;

The pile or heap of witness.

49 and Mizpah, for he said: 'The LORD watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another. 50 If thou shalt afflict my daughters, and if thou shalt take wives beside my daughters, no man being with us; see, God is witness betwixt me and thee.' 51 And Laban said to Jacob: 'Behold this heap, and behold the pillar, which I have set up betwixt me and thee. 52 This heap be witness, and the pillar be witness, that I will not pass over this heap to thee, and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm.

In the future, Balaam will have his leg crushed against the pile which is a fence in his day.

53 The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge betwixt us.' And Jacob swore by the Fear of his father Isaac. 54 And Jacob offered a sacrifice in the mountain, and called his brethren to eat bread; and they did eat bread, and tarried all night in the mountain.

They feasted and slept and departed.

32:1 And early in the morning Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them. And Laban departed, and returned unto his place. 2 And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him. 3 And Jacob said when he saw them: 'This is God's camp.' And he called the name of that place Mahanaim.

Machane (the end pronounced nay) is the word for camp. But if it is a place where the Angels encamp between those of Eretz Yisrael and Chutz LaAretz it becomes Mahanaim.

Almost every story below if not all have a minimum of one miracle this week.

A group of soldiers were about to go down a pier of Hamas. The commander warned them of booby traps. As he is warning them, a dove flies into the shaft and sits on a trip wire of an explosive. – Denise C.

Naor the Paramedic saves his own life.

Generally, the armor soldiers are sitting in tanks that have active shield against RPGs.

This time they were like infantry in a building with injured soldiers a room forward and terrorist between two rooms.

There are wounded in the first room so Naor is next to go forward but the terrorists are shooting and throwing grenades. Naor is injured in his toes from fire and a bullet goes threw his right arm. Then comes the grenade that throws shrapnel into his ceramic vest

causes arterial bleeding in his leg and impacts by his heart or throat. His dog tag reflects off the shrapnel.

His commander applies a tourniquet and Noar tapes up his dangling right calf. He only is bandaged up by a second paramedic after 15minutes and then he is in pain. Then he is dragged into a tank to be evacuated to the rear and then hospital. All the time he is singing to himself and saying the names of his pets and family to keep consciousness. – from an interview in the hospital.

From the Ramat Gan Yeshiva thanks to Denise C.

One of the Givati Soldiers was in the war room with the commander. “You are religious, right? I have an assignment for you. Go and pray now we need extra help.” The fellow obliged the completely secular commander.

“We need prayers right now, there are multitude armored personnel vehicles stuck everything from their tracks coming off to motor failure. They are stuck in a completely exposed area of Gaza. This could lead to a catastrophe.”

The fellow had a hard time focusing but did the best he could under the pressure and circumstances. He said to G-D, “These are your sons. Have mercy let there not be a desecration of your NAME etc.” He then returned to the war room after about 15 minutes praying that G-D had accepted his prayer.

The commander said, “The minute you started to pray, the first APC was fixed and it continued to the last one just before you walked in.” He then added. “You aren’t going into Gaza, I need you here to pray.”

About six months ago. A fellow named Yehuda from Bnei Brak was driving on the road and saw a vehicle pulled over on the side of the road with a couple, child and dog inside. He goes and gives them some gas and does not charge them for it. Asks them where they are from and say Kibbutz Beeri.

He calls them the next day to see that they are OK and each Friday tells their son a story.

After six months, the man asks Yehuda “aren’t you bored on Shabbos? I know you pray and eat but with no cellphone, car, etc. aren’t you bored?”

“Bored? Absolutely not! Actually, it is a busy day for us. If you want come and see.”

“Saturday in Bnei Brak! You know I am secular.”

“What’s the problem, we have a guest room.” They then discuss Rosh Hashanah.

Two days are too much and Yom Kippur is a big fast day. Sukkos we eat and sleep in the Sukkah.

They discuss Simchas Torah but usually go to his father in Sderot. How about him coming too? So, he left his house opposite the police station and came to Bnei Brak with his son and family. All survived that horrible day in the south.

I went to a Yahrzeit Torah lecture by Rabbi Ari Roth Shlita

The Hamas saw us divided and thought that they could break us further.

I have observed on a number of occasions that when the Jews fight each other too much, HASHEM gives us a good kick in the stomach area to wake us up. That happened in the Shoah where Misnagdim and Chassidim were together in the same camp or in our case in the same tank or soldier company or even on platoon or patrol. Anybody remember the Oct. 17th deadline if the IAF is kosher for war or not?

Instead the right-wing anti-democratic fanatics and the left-wing traitors are fighting together against a common enemy.

We do not live in a Torah World guided by Sages and everybody humbles himself to listen to a Psak from a Gadol.

So now the life of the leftist depends on the ability of the rightist to risk his life for his comrade in arms and the opposite holds true.

BTW, there are no Atheists on the front lines in the north. EVERY soldier whether religious or not is wearing Tzitzis under his flak jacket.

Nov. 18/19

In the north, there were more attacks and the electrical company succeeded in restoring electricity to Metula and Kibbutz Misgav Am. The IDF fired artillery and knocked out a few weapons storages and anti-aircraft defenses in Lebanon. The TV showed black smoke rising from one spot. This morning sirens in more than a dozen Yishuvim from close to the coast through the northern Golan. It is raining so the terrorists move with less fear of an air strike but still we fly.

I keep on FB getting notification of Russian site already posted what I post. Now either it is a Russian Jew or Putin’s disinformation campaign.

In the south Gaza is being drenched maybe some of the tunnels will flood. Advancing still on the eastern side of south Gaza City and camps as the last stronghold area of Hamas and Jihad comes under IDF fire. The three top leaders are Shachidim but there are still the main four or five left. The heavy downpour is slowing down the troops and may hurt air support.

Lebanon is very close to a full scale war right now it is low key but the people will want to move back home some day.

My opinion: IDF has to buster bunker the Philadelphia Route as tunnels crossing from Israeli/Gaza Rafiach to Egyptian Rafiach. They have too many supply and escape routes otherwise.

Unfortunately, we lost one soldier just reported and a ten more in the last two days adding something like 18-20% more soldiers killed since the first day.

During the last few days, I saw a number of young men in uniform in Schul visiting home.

As I wrote to my direct readership, my wife and I went to a wedding in Bnei Brak. It was the first time since Corona started so it was nice to see the family. Route 4 was clogged as usual and so we went route 40. We had already started on our way and sirens were sounding on both routes before we got there. Some idiot set off large fireworks at a different wedding. Both the regular police and armed with rifles border police went in to deal with that. Who in their right mind sets off fireworks in the middle of a war especially when there was a take down of rocket right over head by Menashe’s Yeshiva. No matter how hard I try to talk to him to be in the shelter during a rocket attack his late teen brain does not comprehend that he should be sheltered and not in an area covered or not where you can view rockets. It could be peer pressure and excitement.

There was a tragic story of a soldier with the family name Portugal. He was in South A

merica when the war broke out and had to go by different routes taking 5 days to get to his family and his unit. He died on Kiddush HASHEM HY”D. Another two of the recent men we lost had been on TV and telling how they were fighting for those who died and were kidnapped. Now they are gone too.

I wonder if this will be another Hamas we cease and they fire like they did to Hadar Goldin. I assume that the priority of releasing prisoners over the uncertain military damage takes priority Halachically. EXPECT TOMORROW MORNING BETWEEN 9-10AM ESPECIALLY 9:59AM ISRAEL TIME ROCKETS GALORE. Already today many more.
