Parsha Behar and Bechukotai
We have had the Holy Shabbos for humans and their beasts of burdens and even no work on their plants on Shabbos. Now this Parsha opens up with Shabbos for the land and Shabbos for 7 Sabbatical Years.
25:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying: 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them: When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a Sabbath unto the LORD. 3 Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the produce thereof. 4 But in the seventh year shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a Sabbath unto the LORD; thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard. 5 That which grows of itself of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, and the grapes of thy undressed vine thou shalt not gather; it shall be a year of solemn rest for the land. 6 And the Sabbath-produce of the land shall be for food for you: for thee, and for thy servant and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant and for the settler by thy side that sojourn with thee; 7 and for thy cattle, and for the beasts that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be for food.
These are the Torah principles of the laws of Shemita. Shemita is a new idea for slaves who never had land to own land and not work it in the Shemita year. So we now have a Shabbos of days, years and in the next Pasuk of Shemita years.
8 And thou shalt number seven Sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and there shall be unto thee the days of seven Sabbaths of years, even forty and nine years. 9 Then shalt thou make proclamation with the blast of the horn on the tenth day of the seventh month; in the day of atonement shall ye make proclamation with the horn throughout all your land. 10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land unto all the inhabitants thereof; it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
On which object in which city in which country are these words inscribed? Google and search if you don’t know because it is one of the most important events in the last 250 years and the last question is on what day, month and year am I talking about?
The following blessings will occur for those who observe Shemita and Yovel (50th year):
11 A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be unto you; ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of the undressed vines. 12 For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy unto you; ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field. 13 In this year of jubilee ye shall return every man unto his possession. 14 And if thou sell aught unto thy neighbor, or buy of thy neighbor's hand, ye shall not wrong one another. 15 According to the number of years after the jubilee thou shalt buy of thy neighbor, and according unto the number of years of the crops he shall sell unto thee. 16 According to the multitude of the years thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of the years thou shalt diminish the price of it; for the number of crops doth he sell unto thee. 17 And ye shall not wrong one another; but thou shalt fear thy God; for I am the LORD your God. 18 Wherefore ye shall do My statutes, and keep Mine ordinances and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety. 19 And the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat until ye have enough, and dwell therein in safety. 20 And if ye shall say: 'What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we may not sow, nor gather in our increase'; 21 then I will command My blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth produce for the three years. 22 And ye shall sow the eighth year, and eat of the produce, the old store; until the ninth year, until her produce come in, ye shall eat the old store. 23 And the land shall not be sold in perpetuity; for the land is Mine; for ye are strangers and settlers with Me. 24 And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land.
25 If thy brother be waxen poor, and sell some of his possession, then shall his kinsman that is next unto him come, and shall redeem that which his brother hath sold.
This is a family obligation as the land was divided up into tribes and if somebody from the tribe of Benyamin bought land from Yehuda and visa versa it could upset the balance. However, we are obligated only to make one attempt at bailout.
26 And if a man have no one to redeem it, and he be waxen rich and find sufficient means to redeem it; 27 then let him count the years of the sale thereof, and restore the over plus unto the man to whom he sold it; and he shall return unto his possession. 28 But if he have not sufficient means to get it back for himself, then that which he hath sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubilee; and in the jubilee it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession. {S} 29 And if a man sell a dwelling-house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; for a full year shall he have the right of redemption. 30 And if it be not redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be made sure in perpetuity to him that bought it, throughout his generations; it shall not go out in the jubilee. 31 But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be reckoned with the fields of the country; they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubilee. 32 But as for the cities of the Levites, the houses of the cities of their possession, the Levites shall have a perpetual right of redemption. 33 And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold in the city of his possession, shall go out in the jubilee; for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel. 34 But the fields of the open land about their cities may not be sold; for that is their perpetual possession. …
26:1 Ye shall make you no idols, neither shall ye rear you up a graven image, or a pillar, neither shall ye place any figured stone in your land, to bow down unto it; for I am the LORD your God. 2 Ye shall keep My Sabbaths, and reverence My sanctuary: I am the LORD.
Our first Pasha ends with these words of guarding the unity of HASHEM and the holiness of all three types of Shabbasos.
3 If ye walk in My statutes, and keep My commandments, and do them; 4 then I will give your rains in their season, and the land shall yield her produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. 5 And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time; and ye shall eat your bread until ye have enough, and dwell in your land safely. 6 And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid; and I will cause evil beasts to cease out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land. 7 And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. 8 And five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase ten thousand; and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword. 9 And I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you; and will establish My covenant with you. 10 And ye shall eat old store long kept, and ye shall bring forth the old from before the new. 11 And I will set My tabernacle among you, and My soul shall not abhor you. 12 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be My people. 13 I am the LORD your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bars of your yoke, and made you go upright.
This is the standard if / then. Observe and good will happen unto you. Don’t observe then Oy-voy-voy!
14 But if ye will not hearken unto Me, and will not do all these commandments; 15 and if ye shall reject My statutes, and if your soul abhor Mine ordinances, so that ye will not do all My commandments, but break My covenant; 16 I also will do this unto you: I will appoint terror over you, even consumption and fever, that shall make the eyes to fail, and the soul to languish; and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. 17 And I will set My face against you, and ye shall be smitten before your enemies; they that hate you shall rule over you; and ye shall flee when none pursues you. 18 And if ye will not yet for these things hearken unto Me, then I will chastise you seven times more for your sins. 19 And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass. 20 And your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield her produce, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruit.
And if you continue to act brain dead and not awaken to these signs and elect the same old corrupt politicians both in Israel and in the States then more is going to come to you. WAKE UP MY BRETHERN – G-D IS GIVING YOU HIS MUSSAR take the warning and listen. The so-called curses are not curses but punishment of a misbehaving nation from our FATHER IN HEAVEN. HE loves us!!!
21 And if ye walk contrary unto Me, and will not hearken unto Me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins…
And if the second round of punishments don’t work then there will be a third that will completely flatten you.
27 And if ye will not for all this hearken unto Me, but walk contrary unto Me; 28 then I will walk contrary unto you in fury; and I also will chastise you seven times for your sins. 29 And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat. 30 And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your sun-pillars, and cast your carcasses upon the carcasses of your idols; and My soul shall abhor you. 31 And I will make your cities a waste, and will bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours. 32 And I will bring the land into desolation; and your enemies that dwell therein shall be astonished at it. 33 And you will I scatter among the nations, and I will draw out the sword after you; and your land shall be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste.
The Desolate Land
The theme of Parshat Bechukotai is the "Tochacha" - a series of devastating predictions of what will befall the Jewish people throughout history - exile, anti-Semitism, persecution, and more.
Yet we know how much the Almighty cares for us, and He never "punishes" without "sandwiching" it with love. So it is not surprising that the "dire predictions" in this parsha also contain hidden blessings.
For example, Leviticus 26:33, God declares that "I will scatter you among the nations." This is a hidden blessing, because if the Jewish camp is geographically divided, then when one community is persecuted, the other can carry on.
Also, Leviticus 26:22 says that when the Jews are in exile, the "Land [of Israel] will be desolate." This is a hidden blessing, because throughout the millennia - as numerous empires conquered the Land, and countless wars were fought for its possession - astonishingly, no conqueror ever succeeded in permanently settling Israel or causing the desert to bloom. This, of course, made it easier for the Jewish people to return in the 20th century and resettle their homeland - a hidden blessing.

The Zohar talks here about the kingdom of night and day. During the day the forces of good rule but as the sun sets and the Torah learning centers empty out, there is a spiritual as well as a physical darkness that enters the world. David Melech Yisrael used to rise at midnight and compose Psalms to keep the world from being over-whelmed by these negative forces. He would awaken the dawn with his harp and lute with Psalms.
27:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them: When a man shall clearly utter a vow of persons unto the LORD, according to thy valuation, 3 then thy valuation shall be for the male from twenty years old even unto sixty years old, even thy valuation shall be fifty shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary. …
The Torah returns to the valuation of the people in vows, slaves and land.
18 But if he sanctify his field after the jubilee, then the priest shall reckon unto him the money according to the years that remain unto the year of jubilee, and an abatement shall be made from thy valuation. 19 And if he that sanctified the field will indeed redeem it, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy valuation unto it, and it shall be assured to him. 20 And if he will not redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed any more. 21 But the field, when it goeth out in the jubilee, shall be holy unto the LORD, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest's. 22 And if he sanctify unto the LORD a field which he hath bought, … 26 Howbeit the firstling among beasts, which is born as a firstling to the LORD, no man shall sanctify it; whether it be ox or sheep, it is the LORD'S… 34 These are the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai.
This passage could have been at the end of Devarim (Deut.) as it appears to be a summary. It certainly is the summary for Vayikra as we say: Chazak-Chazak v’ nit Chazak.
A Shabbos Story and messages from far away
Dear Sir,
What are the Jewish views on after death? I have had some very strange experiences. I lost my dad in October of 2008. the day before he passed i felt his big hand holding mine......he was 2400 miles away, and when the phone call came i was looking at the phone waiting for it to ring.
I have added a few thousand readers to this blogspot over the past few years that it is time I tell one story and my own personal story.
This story was either told by a guess Rabbi or a Seminar of Orthodox Jews from work or a lecture. There was this man who passed away and he was very righteous but had spiritual tar put on his face in the next world because his children were not observing the Shabbos. He appeared to his daughter in a dream and his son in a different dream. He pleads with them the truth for a dream or two every night after night. The daughter became a Shomer (observer) Shabbos. The son however refused to budge from his non-religious life.
The son was more stubborn. The father warned him that he would put his own life in danger if he did not repent and do Tshuvah on account of the Shabbos. Another Shabbos went by without an attempt and still he came in a dream and warned that it was his last warning before the heavenly Beis Din issued a Gezaira (edict) on the son. This time Shabbos was violated and the on Sunday morning the son woke up with terrible pains in the abdominal area. The son went to the emergency room and was told that he had a very aggressive form of Cancer. It was not long before the son had to appear before the Beis Din with his shabby soul.
The second story happened approximately a month before the Yom Kippur War. (Talmud Bavli [Babylonian] Berachos one of the pages in the section between Daf 53 to 58 regarding dreams – when a dream repeats itself as with Pharaoh and Yosef expect it to come true soon). In the first dream I saw soldiers marching in a parade and then firing upon them. I dreamt of three wars the first a total surprise and people needed to take shelter. The second in the shelter and third a fearsome war where most of the time the people were in the shelter. I dreamt of equipment that would not be operational for 25 to 30 years hence and it was before I was drafted into to the army. The next morning I dreamt the siren going off. I ran down to the shelter. The whole entrance way was filled with the face of my late father and he repeated the exact words that he said to me when the six day war broke out. You want to be religious, you will end up going to Israel and a war will break out while you are there and (something to the effect about) there will be dangers. I told three people. 1) My friend Zalman D. who analyzed the dreams claimed that I had a womb complex in the shelter and was still afraid of my dad 4 years after his passing. I spoke to Zalman a few years ago and he had forgotten everything. He was at my house that Yom Kippur but until he was called up did not believe that war had broken out. 2) Zev who told me that because Moshe Dayan was such a braggart of our strength he had figured out that war will occur soon to let us know who is the MASTER OF THE HOUSE OF YISRAEL. 3) Yacov Glicksman who passed away about ten years later.
New story which I remembered as I typed the first and it occurred not so many years ago. I withheld this story unto now because it is in the realm of close to incredulous perhaps for a G-D fearing person who believes in the Bible that spirit of Navat who was murdered for his vineyard by Achav made fools of the 400 Prophets – see the commentary there in Sefer Melachim (Book of Kings) will accept this. I know that many will go to Yam HaMelech for large salt rocks with this story so here goes: The woman who helped me go into Orthodoxy was a non-observant person. She was the mother of my friend, Howie. Her name of blessed memory was Beatrice Dyckoff. She had a daughter who left Judaism and became Catholic and then Catholicism and became Protestant. Her name was Geraldine. Geraldine developed Leukemia and in the course of her disease her father passed away. Gerry as she liked to be called was a good person and we used to exchange humor over the net. One day I had a feeling that Bernie was trying to contact me with a message for Gerry. I cannot explain the why or wherefore 20:27 A man also or a woman that divines by a ghost or a familiar spirit, shall surely be put to death; they shall stone them with stones; their blood shall be upon them. - but the communication was not initiated here but from there. I figure that Bernie wanted to tell me because I would believe and was close enough to attempt to help. I told Gerry that if she wanted to be well, all she had to do is each week light the Shabbos candles even if she were not to observe it or believe in what she was doing. She told me that she was now a Christian and not bound by Judaism. I told her “Gerry, I love you as my own sister that I never had. According to Judaism, when one is chosen to be born a Jew, a Jew he will stay all his life and after life he/she will be judged so.” Gerry got some bone marrow from her sister and her body was taking well to the bone marrow but complications arose and she died. I told Mrs. Dyckoff what had happened and she told me, “Richard, (she knew me before I was religious), I believe you as I know that G-D and his servants can communicate with us. Bernie tried, you tried, I tried and it was not to be. Thank you!” – Up until this day only Mrs. Dyckoff and I knew this story as it was very private.
From David Zviel: Subject: A very touching story in memory of Dvir Emanuelov
I heard the following story during this past Israeli Independence Day from the mother of Dvir Imanuelov. It truly touched my heart. At first I was in tears but then decided to share it with the world.
Here it is:
Dvir Imanuelov was the first Israeli soldier to be killed in operation “Cast Lead” a year and a half ago. Two years earlier his father had died of an illness and Dvir, as the only male in the family took upon himself all the responsibilities together with his mother.
The loss of Dvir was especially tragic as they were left with only a mother and daughters in the family.
On his last birthday the family and friends got together around the gravesite cleaned it up and planted new flowers. During the ceremony Dvir’s mother told the following shocking story:
“One night before I went to sleep I spoke to G-d and asked him out loud the following request: “Please – give me one hug from Dvir so that I will know that it was not all in vain.”
I then went to sleep.
That same week, my daughter asked me if I would come with her to a concert of Meir Banai – a famous Israeli singer. I wasn’t in the mood of going to a concert but at the same time didn’t want to upset my daughter. In the end I decided to go to the concert without much enthusiasm.
The concert took place at the Sultan’s poll stadium in Jerusalem.
We got there a little early and while the band was getting ready a little boy came up to me. He was about two years old with beautiful blond curls and had the face of an angel. I started talking to him.
What is your name? – Eshel
Do you want to be my friend? – Yes.
Do you want to sit next to me? – Yes
At this point the parents, who were sitting two rows above us signaled the kid to come back and stop harassing old ladies.
I motioned with my hand that it is fine and we continued our conversation.
Eshel started telling me about his family. He told me that he has a baby brother named Dvir.
When I heard the name my entire body started shaking. I went up two rows and asked Eshel’s mother.
“Excuse me for being so rude, but how old is Dvir?” – Six months old, was the answer
“Sorry for being so arrogant but was he born before or after operation “Cast Lead”?” “After” came the answer.
“Please excuse my question but why did you call him Dvir?”
And Eshel’s mother answered: “I work in the army as an officer that informs families of their wounded or killed sons and follows their needs.
While I was pregnant with Dvir the doctors informed me that they suspect a very serious defect with this baby. Since the pregnancy was at a very advanced stage it was not possible to have an abortion and there was nothing to do but wait for the birth and see.
On my way home from the doctor I heard over the radio that a soldier named Dvir was killed in Gaza. Right away I made a deal with G-d. “If you give me a healthy child I promise to call him Dvir in memory of that soldier” concluded Shiri, Eshel’s mom.
With tears in my eyes I turned to Shiri and told her that I am the mother of Dvir.
Shiri didn’t believe me.
I insisted that I am Dvir’s mom.
She still didn’t believe me and then asked for my name. “Dalia” I answered. “Dalia Imanuelov from Pisgat Zeev.”
Shiri then picked up Dvir and handed him over. “Here- take Dvir in your hands – he wants to give you a hug…”
Until this day the families are in touch and Shiri follows Dalia and the family in all their needs.
And you tell me. If that is not powerful, what is??? (In short, when I got the message from this non-Jewish lady, I was not the least bit surprised at what had happened to her.
As I wrote quoting the Zohar last week – sometimes souls have to transmigrate within 24 hrs.)

“A person, who through his lifetime experienced difficult periods, returned his soul to its maker. In Heaven he was shown a replay of his entire life. He was shown all the steps he took throughout his life; where he went and what he did. To his amazement he saw four footsteps, instead of only two.
"But I have only two feet?? Why do I see four footsteps??" He asked the angel.
"Two are yours and the other two are G-D's. He walked with you wherever you went!!" Replied the angel.
"But why, as I watch the difficult times in my life and the difficult steps I went through, I see only two footsteps?? Where was G-D then??
The angel looked at him and smile, "You are mistaken. The two footsteps you see during your difficult journeys through life are not yours!! They are G-D's footsteps. During those times G-D carried you!!"
Major Roi Klein and the other Major Eliraz Peretz killed a week ago built in the Shomron with a Yeshuv but the land was ‘illegal’ to build on according to the left in Israel that wants to throw away the heart of the land of Israel to terrorists. Roi thought differently about Eretz Yisrael and did not care if his men were rightists or leftists. He threw himself upon a hand grenade to protect them. One of his soldiers that he saved was an Ethiopian so Roi was not a right wing bigot and color hater. Halachos and Mitzvos by Danny Schoemann
If a childless widow does not want to marry her late husband's brother, she must perform Chalitzah. Chalitzah must be done in the presence of knowledgeable Rabbis. It consists of the widow and the brother saying certain verses after which she removes his right shoe and spits on the floor in front of him. Applies to everybody, everywhere, always Verse: "If she does not want to marry him... she shall remove his shoe..." It's a Mitzva for a father to circumcise his son when he is 8 days old. The Brit Mila must be done during the day. If the newborn is not 100% healthy then the Brit Mila is postponed. If the Brit Mila is on time (on the 8th day) then it is done even on Shabbat, Yom Tov and Yom Kippur. A person who was not circumcised by his father needs to get himself circumcised when he grows up. If he dies without having done so, he deserves Kares. One who eats a non-Kosher bird or its eggs deserves 39 lashes by Bet Din. The Torah gives us a list of non-Kosher birds. Applies to everybody, everywhere, always

One may not eat flying insects, except for some Kosher grasshoppers. One who eats an olive-size worth of flying insects, or one who eats an entire insect (no matter how small) deserves 39 lashes by Bet Din, Applies to everybody, everywhere, always Verse: "Flying insects are impure to you, do not eat them" (Devarim 14:19)

The beard-area begins at the bottom of the ear where the Payos-area ends - towards the bottom of the ear - and includes the entire face. Men may not shave their beards with a razor. Even when using hair-removal cream on the beard-area, men cannot use a blade or a knife; they should use a rounded spatula or other instrument that cannot cut.

It's a Torah prohibition to graft trees with branches from a different type of tree or plant. One may not own a grafted tree; it needs to be uprooted. However, one may graft a tree with a branch of the same type of tree. One may take a branch from a grafted tree and plant it. One may eat the fruit from grafted trees. The Torah prohibits using different species of animals at the same time. This is called Kilei Bahayma. One may not pull a wagon using 2 different types of animals, e.g. a donkey and a horse. One may not ride in a wagon being pulled by 2 different types of animals. (Phil of the Torah Tidbits wrote many years ago about an Elephant and a Giraffe pulling a wagon in “What happened on Mulberry Street” by Dr. Seuss is a no-no) One may not even tie 2 different types of animals together to prevent them from escaping; this applies to birds as well. However, one may use a female and male of the same species as well as small and large animals of the same species. E.g. one could pull a wagon with a cow, a bull and a calf. The Torah forbids mating animals or birds of different species - this is part of Kilei Bahayma which we started learning about yesterday. However, there is no obligation to prevent them from mating naturally. A mule is the hybrid offspring of a male donkey and a female horse. A hinny is the hybrid offspring of a male horse and a female donkey. The way to tell them apart is by their ears, tails and bray. (Yes. All this is from the Kitzur.) One may not use a mule and a hinny together as they are considered as 2 distinct species. If their ears, tails and bray are similar then one can assume they are both the same animal. There is an opinion that one may not use a mule at all - not even for riding on - as one would be using 2 species simultaneously. Source: Kitzur Shulchan Aruch 175:1, 6
Sometimes the thread on a seam becomes loose - and if one pulls the thread, one can tighten the seam. Tightening a seam in this way is forbidden on Shabbat - as it's considered "sewing" - one of the 39 forbidden categories of work on Shabbat. This week is Shabbat Mevarchim of Sivan - Rosh Chodesh will be next week on Erev Shabbat.

From Chaim B: - A place called pandemonium: You are familiar with the recent crisis in Europe due to the ash fallout that grounded the entire airways in & out of Europe. Well, yesterday , a patient of mine told me how she had got back from London...She was in London on business& while she had people stay with, there was absolutely no way of getting back to Israel for the upcoming Independence Day & Memorial Day holidays,(Monday & Tuesday) Her husband's boss also happened to be stuck in London & when he informed his boss of his wife's similar plight, the boss( an owner of a massive insurance company) told his employer that the wife should meet up with his party & he would organize something. They met up & travelled via train to the ferry, crossed the channel to France, hired 2 buses, (there were by now 90 I Israelis ) & started to make their way to Marseilles, which was the only airport still open. They travelled non-stop through the night & at the crack of dawn, in pitch darkness, at some road side truck driver's pullover, they stopped .All got out the buses, & had a memorial service for Israel's fallen soldiers & police who died in action during the 62 years of the State's existence. For after all, it was Monday & in Israel that was the day prior to Independence day, on which all Israel remember those that paid the ultimate price for our continued (precarious) existence.
There was an entertainer with them who sang the memorial song, they then sang the national anthem (Hatikva) & they all got back on bus. On arrival in Marseilles, they found pandemonium. The entire world was trying to get on a plane no matter where. All of a sudden, an announcement was made in Hebrew (The blessed French ONLY speak French) "Don't panic, we will bring all of you home. Not one will be left behind"! And so it was. El Al sent three Jumbo's & got everybody home in time for the holidays. They were the only airline to send empty planes to fetch people. It's the little things that make one realize why one lives in this crazy place.

An essential component of bonding is its endurance; its ability to withstand challenges and setbacks. Without endurance there is no chance to develop true bonding. Am I totally committed to the one with whom I bond? How much will I endure and how ready am I to fight to maintain this bond? Is the person I bond with aware of my devotion?
Exercise for the day: Demonstrate the endurance level of your bonding by confronting a challenge that obstructs the bond.
Day 40 -- Hod of Yesod: Humility of Bonding
Humility is crucial in healthy bonding. Arrogance divides people. Preoccupation with your own desires and needs separates you from others. Humility allows you to appreciate another person and bond with him. Healthy bonding is the union of two distinct people, with independent personalities, who join for a higher purpose than satisfying their own needs. True humility comes from recognizing and acknowledging God in your life. Am I aware of the third partner -- God -- in bonding? And that this partner gives me the capacity to unite with another, despite our distinctions.
Exercise for the day: When praying acknowledge God specifically for helping you bond with others.
Day 41 -- Yesod of Yesod: Bonding in Bonding
Every person needs and has the capacity to bond with other people, with significant undertakings and with meaningful experiences. Do I have difficulty bonding? Is the difficulty in all areas or only in certain ones? Do I bond easily with my job, but have trouble bonding with people? Or vice versa?
Examine the reasons for not bonding. Is it because I am too critical and find fault in everything as an excuse for not bonding? Am I too locked in my own ways? Is my not bonding a result of discomfort with vulnerability? Have I been hurt in my past bonding experiences? Has my trust been abused? Is my fear of bonding a result of the deficient bonding I experienced as a child?
To cultivate your capacity to bond, even if you have valid reasons to distrust, you must remember that God gave you a Divine soul that is nurturing and loving and you must learn to recognize the voice within, which will allow you to experience other people's souls and hearts. Then you can slowly drop your defenses when you recognize someone or something you can truly trust.
One additional point: Bonding breeds bonding. When you bond in one area of your life, it helps you bond in other areas.
Exercise for the day: Begin bonding with a new person or experience you love by committing designated time each day or week to spend together constructively.
Day 42 -- Malchus of Yesod: Nobility in Bonding
Bonding must enhance a person's sovereignty. It should nurture and strengthen your own dignity and the dignity of the one you bond with. Does my bonding inhibit the expression of my personality and qualities? Does it overwhelm the one I bond with?
Exercise for the day: Emphasize and highlight the strengths of the one with whom you bond.

It seems clear that President Barack Hussein Obama’s agenda is to assure Iran that he, in America’s name, will do absolutely nothing to stop Iran’s development of Nuclear Weapons. Within that decision is a determination to see Israel first weakened and then eliminated by Iran and the Muslim Arab League’s Charters.
Moreover, this planning also fits the agenda of the pro-Arab U.S. State Department and such high ranking parasites as former Secretary of State James Baker III, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Gen. James Jones, among others, generally referred to as "Arabists".
Regrettably, such people as Shimon Peres, Ehud Barak, Ehud Olmert and other Leftists assist the Obama Agenda.

When the history of our times is written, this week will be remembered as the week that Washington decided to let the Islamic Republic of Iran go nuclear. Hopefully it will also be remembered as the moment the Jews arose and refused to allow Iran to go nuclear.
With the publication of the recommendations of the Iraq Study Group chaired by former US secretary of state James Baker III and former Congressman Lee Hamilton, the debate about the war in Iraq changed. From a war for victory against Islam fascism and for democracy and freedom, the war became reduced to a conflict to be managed by appeasing the US's sworn enemies in the interests of stability and at the expense of America's allies.
Baker and his associates claim that the US cannot win the war in Iraq and so the US must negotiate with its primary enemies in Iraq and throughout the world - Iran and Syria - in the hopes that they will be persuaded to hold their fire for long enough to facilitate an "honorable" American retreat from the country.
Like his unsupported assertion that the US cannot win in Iraq, Baker also asserts - in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary - that Iran and Syria share America's "interest in avoiding chaos in Iraq." Because of this supposed shared interest, Baker maintains that with the proper incentives, Iran and Syria can be persuaded to cooperate with a US withdrawal from Iraq ahead of the 2008 presidential primaries.
The main incentive Baker advocates offering is Israel.
Baker believes that Iran will agree to temporarily hold its fire in Iraq in exchange for US acceptance of Iran as a nuclear power and an American pledge not to topple the regime. Syria will assist the US in exchange for US pressure on Israel to hand over the Golan Heights to Syria and Judea and Samaria to Hamas.
Obviously, if implemented, the Baker-Hamilton group's recommendations will be disastrous for Israel. Just the fact that they now form the basis for the public debate on the war is a great blow. But it isn't only Israel that is harmed by their actions. The US too, will be imperiled if their views become administration policy.
Although Baker - and incoming Secretary of Defense Robert Gates who served on his commission until Bush announced his appointment next month - believe that there is a deal to be done that will end Iranian and Syrian aggression against the US, its vital interests and its allies, the fact of the matter is that there is no such deal.
Contrary to what the Baker report argues and what Gates said in his Senate confirmation hearing Tuesday, Iran is not analogous to the Soviet Union and the war against the global jihad is not a new cold war.
Even if the US were to somehow get them to agree to certain understandings about Iraq, there is no reason to believe that the Iranians and Syrians would keep their word. Not only would the US be approaching them as a supplicant and so emboldening them, but to date the US has never credibly threatened anything either Syria or Iran value. Indeed, through supporting negotiations between the EU and
Iran, empowering the UN to deal with Iran's nuclear program and forcing Israel to accept a cease-fire with Hizbullah last summer that effectively gave victory to Syria and Iran's proxy, the US has consistently rewarded the two countries' aggression.
Worse than that, from a US perspective, although Gates admitted Tuesday that he cannot guarantee that Iran will not attack Israel with nuclear weapons, he ignored the fact that Iran - whose President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad daily calls for the destruction of the US - may also attack the US with nuclear weapons.
Gates admitted in his Senate hearing that Iran is producing many bombs - not just one.
Since it is possible to destroy Israel with just one bomb, the Americans should be asking themselves what Iran needs all those other bombs for. There are senior military sources in the US who have been warning the administration to take into consideration that the day that Iran attacks Israel with a nuclear bomb, 10 cities in the US and Europe are liable to also be attacked with nuclear weapons. Unfortunately, no one is listening to these voices today.
IT IS particularly upsetting that Washington has chosen now of all times to turn its back on the war. Ahmadinejad hinted Monday that Iran has completed the nuclear fuel cycle and so has passed the point
of no return on its nuclear program. He also made a veiled statement indicating that Iran will have its nuclear arsenal up and running by March - just four months away.
Serious disagreement exists in Washington over the status of the Iranian program. Some claim that Iran is four or five years away from nuclear weapons capabilities. Other maintain that Iran has recently experienced serious technical setbacks in their uranium enrichment activities and that the North Korean nuclear bomb test in October, inwhich Iranian officials participated, was a failure.
But there are also engaged officials who agree with Ahmadinejad's assessment of Iran's nuclear progress. Those officials maintain first that the North Korean-Iranian test in October was successful and should be taken as a sign that Iran already has a nuclear arsenal.
Second, they warn that the US and Israel have six months to act against Iran's nuclear installations and to overthrow the regime or face the prospect of the annihilation of Israel and the destruction of several US cities as a result of an Iranian nuclear offensive.
Obviously, Israel cannot risk the possibility that the last group of officials is correct. And since Washington has decided to go to sleep, it is up to Israel alone to act.
WHAT MUST Israel do? First, it must plan an attack against Iran's nuclear facilities and regime command and control centers. To pave the way for such an attack, the IDF must move now to neutralize second order threats like the Palestinian rocket squads and the Syrian ballistic missile arsenals in order to limit the public's exposure to attack during the course of or in the aftermath of an Israeli attack on Iran.
Second, Israel must work to topple the Iranian regime. As the Defense Minister's advisor Uri Lubrani told Ha'aretz last week, the regime in Iran is far from stable today and ripe for overthrow.
The overwhelming majority of Iranians despise the regime. There are rebellious groups in every ethnic group and province in the country - Azeris, Kurds, Ahwazi Arabs, Baluchis, Turkmen and even Persians -
that are actively working to destabilize the regime. Every day there are strikes of workers, women and students. Every few weeks there are reports of violent clashes between anti-regime groups and regime
forces. Recently, oil pipelines were sabotaged in the oil-rich Khuzestan province in the south where the Ahwazi Arabs are systematically persecuted by the regime. Westerners who recently visited Iran claim that Israel operating alone could overthrow the regime by extending its assistance to these people.
Thirdly, in his testimony in the Senate on Tuesday, Gates casually mentioned that Israel has nuclear weapons. In so doing, he unceremoniously removed four decades of ambiguity over Israel's nuclear status. While his statement caused dismay in Jerusalem, perhaps Israel should see this as an opportunity.
With the threat of nuclear destruction hanging over us, it makes sense to conduct a debate about an Israeli second strike. While such a discussion will not dissuade Iran's fanatical leaders from attacking Israel with nuclear weapons, it could influence the Iraniannation to rise up against their leaders.
Moreover, such a debate could influence other regimes in the region like Saudi Arabia which today behave as if Israel's annihilation will have no adverse impact on them. Americans like Baker, Gates and
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and their European friends need to understand that as goes Israel so go the Persian Gulf's oil fields. Such an understanding may influence their willingness to enable Iran to acquire nuclear weapons.
Tragically, in these perilous times, we are being led by the worst, most incompetent government we have ever had.Prime Minister Olmert's way of dealing with the Iranian threat is to pretend that it is none
of his business. During his visit to the US last month, Olmert abdicated responsibility for safeguarding Israel from nuclear destruction to President Bush. It didn't bother him that Bush didn't accept the responsibility. By mindlessly adhering to non-existent cease-fires with Iranian proxies in Gaza and Lebanon and squawking about peace with them, Olmert continues to behave as if this is someone else's problem.
For her part, reacting to the possibility of national extinction, Education Minister Yuli Tamir this week cocked her pedagogical pistol and shot at her rear. By ordering the public schools to demarcate the 1949 armistice lines on the official maps and so wipe Israel off maps of Judea, Samaria and the Golan Heights, Tamir worked to divide the nation over second order issues at a time when unity of purpose is most essential. Olmert, who refused to overturn her scandalous decree, was doubtlessly pleased with her political stunt. For two days the media devoted itself entirely to stirring up internal divisions and so ignored the threat hanging over our heads and Olmert's refusal to deal with it.
Next Thursday, Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz, Vice Chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations Malcolm Hoenlein and former ambassador to the UN Dore Gold will hold a press conference in New York where they will call for the US to indict Ahmadinejad for his call to annihilate Israel under the International Convention Against Genocide. This is doubtlessly a welcome initiative. But it is insufficient.
In a few months, Iran may well be in possession of nuclear weapons which it will use to destroy the Jewish state. With the US withdrawing from the war and Israel in the hands of incompetents, the time has come for the Jewish people to rise up.
OUR SURVIVAL begins with each of us deciding that we are willing to fight to survive. And today the challenge facing us is clear. Eitherthe Iranian regime is toppled and its nuclear installations will be destroyed or Israel will be annihilated. The Jews in the Diaspora must launch mass demonstrations and demand that their governments take real action to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
The citizens of the State of Israel must also take to the streets. The government that led us to defeat in Lebanon this summer is leading us to a disaster of another order entirely. All citizens must demand that Olmert, his ministers and the generals in the IDF General Staff make an immediate decision. They now hold the responsibility for acting against Iran. They must either act or resign and make way for others who will.
America just abdicated its responsibility to defend itself against Iran and so left Israel high and dry. Nevertheless, the Jewish people is far from powerless. And the State of Israel also is capable of defending itself. But we must act and act immediately.

COUNTERFEITING BIRTH CERTIFICATES by Emanuel A. Winston, Middle East Analyst & Commentator
Last week I was watching Anderson Cooper on CNN at about 4 AM, who was fervently making the case that President Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and not in Kenya. He interviewed several politicians who were clearly NOT ready to question Obama’s legitimacy.
Cooper said that Hawaii had recently adopted electronic methods to display "original" birth certificates. He briefly displayed an electronic copy of Obama’s birth certificate offered by Obama’s election committee.
While I do not claim to be an expert on computer technology, but I have watched wizards on the keyboards produce anything imaginable and then in seconds they can revise it to perfection.
Recent reports speak of counterfeiters producing counterfeit currency using computer technology. In fact, just the other day the U.S. introduced a new $100 dollar bill to defeat present methods of counterfeiting through computer reproduction.(1)
As a professional artist with a background in print graphics, I have an eye for what can be accomplished in art. When the era of CGI, Computer Generated Images, reached its stride, I was astonished as to what could really be accomplished. Reproducing documents to look like originals was child’s play for the experts.
Therefore, when Anderson Cooper displayed an electronic supposed copy of Obama’s birth certificate, I was not particularly impressed. There was a seal printed on its heading but that was easily reproduced electronically. He showed some dimensionally raised stamp impressions, supposedly produced by an official Hawaiian embosser which was not only easily duplicated by making a new stamp but, was suspiciously picked up in dimension by computer. The raised ridges were far too crisp and prominent.
I would like to see a really old, original certificate reproduced on a copy machine to compare. I would like to know when Hawaii started to electronically reproduce birth certificates and other documents for record-keeping purposes.
What ever happened to the originals?
Anderson Cooper’s position and selection of interviewees suggested that those who questioned the authenticity of the computer-generated document were stupid or un-American. Clearly, he should have had at least one expert on document fabrication but, that would have broken the chain of evidence he was relying upon.
IF there are computer wizards out there who can pull up the Obama document on their computer and then modify it to demonstrate the capability of the computer to create virtually anything - please do it.
For a moment, let us assume that it wasn’t a skilled hacker employed to create a false electronic document but a higher level organization within the U.S. State Department. Let us assume that a government intelligence agency was assigned the mission of creating a false document electronically so there was no original paper to test for age or inks to analyze.
Why would a political party use special experts to insure that a far Left candidate for President be elected and carry through policies of the Left?
The U.S. Government Agencies have unlimited skills through some of the best computer minds to produce anything assigned. Even the word "Forgery" is no longer adequate to describe what documents could be produced.
In fact, if they wanted to they could find some of the old paper used in Hawaii for birth certificates, match the ink chemistry and produce a real facsimile of an original - not unlike expert forgers.
Once produced as an original, it could then be copied electronically, claiming "it came from an original which is now destroyed".
So, let’s challenge the computer experts and hackers to reproduce an Obama birth certificate but, with a few deliberate errors or marks to prove it was a false document.
Should it turn out that Obama’s documents are, indeed, false, he would immediately be purged from the job of American President and be sentenced to prison as a criminal. All those who assisted such as State Department officials; Judges who deliberately refused to hear the case; Obama’s appointees who knew the truth; political party members who knew all - like the President’s men surrounding Nixon could end up in Federal Prison.

During debate over the draft of a new Kenyan constitution, James Orengo, the country's minister of lands and a member of parliament for the Ugenya constituency, cited America's election of a Kenyan-born president as an example of what can be accomplished when diverse peoples unite:
"If America was living in a situation where they feared ethnicity and did not see itself as a multiparty state or nation," Orengo posited, "how could a young man born here in Kenya, who is not even a native American, become the president of America?"
Orengo held up the U.S. as a country no longer "living in the past," since Americans elected a Kenyan-born president without regard to "ethnic consideration and objectives."

Debate is then recorded in the Kenyan government's official March 25, 2010, ‘ansard’– a traditional name for printed transcripts of a parliamentary debate – as continuing with no other MPs mentioning or attempting to correct Orengo's comments about Obama.
As WND has reported, several other sources – including National Public Radio – have claimed Obama's birthplace as Kenya prior to his election as president.
WND also reported when a video appeared in which Michelle Obama said her husband's "home country" was Kenya, though her comments didn't specifically suggest his birth there.
The video, posted April 3 on YouTube and forwarded by a score of Internet e-mails, shows Michelle Obama saying, "When we took our trip to Africa and visited his home country in Kenya, we took a public HIV test."
The reference drew attention because of the claim made in numerous lawsuits and other challenges to Obama's occupancy of the Oval Office that he is not eligible to be president under the requirement of Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution that the president be a "natural born citizen."
But the NPR reference and Michelle Obama's comment are far from the only ones of their kind.
At one point, there were reports that even Obama's grandmother claimed being in attendance at his birth in Africa.
According to a compilation of images at a military forum, another reference was made in 2008 in the Nigerian Observer.
Under a byline from Solomon Asowata and a Washington dateline, the report says, "Americans will today go to the polls to elect their next president with Democratic Party candidate, Senator Barack Obama largely favored to win. The Kenyan-born Senator will, however, face a stiff competition from his Republican counterpart…"
A commentary at The Post & Email website said, "It is no wonder that many doubt Obama's claim of a Hawaiian birth."
It cited another report from African Travel Magazine that said, "As Kenyan born U.S. Senator Barack Obama jets into Kenya today as part of his African tour, concerns have once again been raised on the security preparations for other visitors and residents. ...."
The Post & Email commentary also cited a report from Indonesia Matters that includes similar references.
WND documented earlier several other statements linking Obama and Kenya.
These included the apparently archived article from the Sunday Standard in Kenya. The report begins, "Kenyan-born US Senate hopeful, Barrack (sic) Obama, appeared set to take over the Illinois Senate seat after his main rival, Jack Ryan, dropped out of the race on Friday night amid a furor over lurid sex club allegations."
The article is credited to the wire service Associated Press at the bottom of the page. However, the article could not be found either in the AP archives available to the public online or the archive on the newspaper's website. WND telephone calls and e-mails to the newspaper did not generate a response.
Last year, an African news site and an MSNBC broadcaster referred to President Obama's birthplace as being outside of the United States.
Network correspondent Mara Schiavocampo was reporting on the celebratory atmosphere in Accra, Ghana, immediately prior to Obama's visit to the west African nation.
Interviewing a person who appeared to be a shop operator, she stated, "Barack Obama is Kenyan … but Ghanaians are still proud of him."
Also, a report at Modern Ghana posted in advance of the president's visit cited his birthplace on the continent of Africa.
"For Ghana, Obama's visit will be a celebration of another milestone in African history as it hosts the first-ever African-American President on this presidential visit to the continent of his birth," the report said.
WND has reported on dozens of legal challenges to Obama's status as a "natural born citizen." The Constitution, Article 2, Section 1, states, "No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President."
Some of the lawsuits question whether he was actually born in Hawaii, as he insists. If he was born out of the country, Obama's American mother, the suits contend, was too young at the time of his birth to confer American citizenship to her son under the law at the time.
Other challenges have focused on Obama's citizenship through his father, a Kenyan subject to the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom at the time of his birth, thus making him a dual citizen. The cases contend the framers of the Constitution excluded dual citizens from qualifying as natural born.
Complicating the situation is Obama's decision to spend sums exceeding $1.7 million to avoid releasing an original long-form state birth certificate that would put to rest the questions.
WND also has reported that among the documentation not yet available for Obama includes his kindergarten records, Punahou school records, Occidental College records, Columbia University records, Columbia thesis, Harvard Law School records, Harvard Law Review articles, scholarly articles from the University of Chicago, passport, medical records, files from his years as an Illinois state senator, his Illinois State Bar Association records, any baptism records and his adoption records.
Because of the dearth of information about Obama's eligibility, WND founder Joseph Farah has launched a campaign to raise contributions to post billboards asking a simple question: "Where's the birth certificate?"

Michelle Obama said her husband's mother, Ann Dunham, was "very young and very single" when she gave birth to the future U.S. president.
Her comments undermine the official story as told by Barack Obama – that Dunham was married to his father, Barack Obama Sr., at the time of birth.
The remarks were made by Michelle Obama during a July 2008 round table at the University of Missouri. Obama was responding to criticism of her husband's presidential campaign speeches about fatherhood and faith-based initiatives.
