Elul and the Gate of Tears


There are times when 49 of the 50 Gates to Heaven are closed and only the Gates of Tears are open. Tearing down houses in the heart of Israel by the Offense Minister and the Lowly Court of Injustice in Israel is so bad that it could heaven forbid close down the Gate of Prayer and the perhaps even the Gate of Repentance. However the Gate of Tears is always open. The people who lost their houses without compensation in Migron are crying to Heaven. HE hears! I heard a wonderful true story this week of a young woman who was very upset. Her Yetzer was pulling her one way and her logic another way and she had a good cry day after day. Finally she received a soothing message basically that she has overcome this particular test and she is blessed. Moshe tried this method of pray in VaEschanan but HASHEM commanded him directly no more. If one is in trouble and has much sorrow literally cry unto HASHEM. Often our prayers are weak because saying the Shemona Esrey three times a day except Shabbos and Yom Tov the same more or less it because less and less intense with time. One’s mind is on 101 different things and the pray becomes routine. Our only hope at prayer is the High Holidays and Yom Tovim which are unusual and perhaps on Rosh Chodesh as it falls once or twice a month. When we have problems read some Tehillim (Psalms) and give a little cry here or there. 120:5 Woe is me, that I sojourn with Meshech, According to Rabbi Eliyahu Schatz Shlita this refers to the USA that is bullying Israel that I dwell beside the tents of Kedar! This refers to the Arabs and the Psalm was read by Agudat Yisrael in the Knesset when the peace treaty was ratified with Egypt. 6 My soul hath full long had her dwelling with him that hates peace. 7 I am all peace; but when I speak, they are for war. Milchem Jihad those are the words in Arabic my friends.

I speak for myself and my family when I say, “We are all getting rotten inside” from the influences of the outside world. The young ladies in my Yeshuv wear long dresses or skirts often with loose pants underneath. In Kiriat Sefer for Political Reasons the women wear clear stocks and dresses below the knee but not down to the floor because the more Liberal Orthodox Women dress that way. HAS THE CHAREDI WORLD HEARD OF MODESTY? I don’t claim to be the most modest person on earth having grown up literally in a non-Jewish neighborhood among what one could call if you have seen the jokes on the internet “Wal-Mart People”. I was once only in the Kollel and Religious Yeshuvim once Erev Rosh Hashanah and I went to fill up gasoline to get a free calendar, newspaper and a little honey which they give out. Filling up next to me was a woman in shorts, low cut blouse and rolled up to display her stomach. It was like one gave me a cup of poison from the Yetzer. I saw her for a few seconds but the sight would not go out of my mind. Or once I was riding a bus in Israel at the age of about 24 reading Mishnayos in a far corner minding my own business all of a sudden a gas attack of perfume occurred on the bus from about 7 to 10 meters in front of me. An older woman of about 35 – 40 dress to kill men had gotten on at stop with a Yetzer Stink Bomb. I went back to my Mishnayos but it was the Yetzer who caused me to break off even for a few seconds. For this we must cry and repent. I speak of myself and of years ago of things that I had no control of but there are things like wasting Torah Time and other things that I have control of and of this I can cry today. Friends there is a song in Hebrew “Mah HaDawin Shelcha” or basically what are your lies/tricks? Elul is the month of Repentance! Supposedly the Gate of Rachamim (Compassion) is open this month. 24:7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates, and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors; dthat the King of glory may come in. 8 'Who is the King of glory?' On Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kippur the Gates of Teshuva are wide open and if one has not repented during Elul that is his last opportunity. I would try for repenting any time and especially in Elul for one does not know if he will make it to the ten days of repentance.

Parsha Ki Tzeitze

21:10 When thou go forth to battle against your enemies, and the LORD thy God delivers them into thy hands, and thou carry them away captive,

The words are on the physical level and simple but the hidden meaning is with the Yetzer HaRa and the battle that goes on within us like the young women who prayed and cried and achieved spiritual peace within. Not all of us are this lucky or merit such.

11 and see among the captives a woman of goodly form, and thou hast a desire unto her, and would take her to thee to wife;

The Torah knows human nature and on the physical level allowed him this vice but on the spiritual level this is dangerous. One desires friendship it is human nature and a beautiful wife is often a young man’s dream. Regarding ‘friends’, last week on Facebook, I started removing ‘friends’ of Messianic Judaism claiming to be Jewish but waiting for the return of somebody who never ever could be the one and only Moshiach. I could not take these people under my wings no matter how intelligent or a person in goodly form that my Yetzer might desire. Some claimed to be a Ger Toshav or Noachide (like a Druze in our days and some Bedouin who serve in the IDF and live in Israel). These people could not be Ger Toshav first of all because they do not live in Israel and they believe in the Devil on equal footing with his Creator as if an Angel had the ability to rebel. Also they have in their theology spawns a partner(s) with HASHEM which violate the terms of the definitions of a Noachide or Ger Toshav. Some had Jewish Names and claimed to be Jewish and perhaps they were but these people were far gone and I am not the one who will convince them the errors of their ways neither via the internet nor do I have the time for them. I help only people who want to be helped and cry out to me not people whom I think need help but don’t want my meddling.

12 then thou shalt bring her home to thy house; and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails;

After doing what he did with her and humbled her, (as was the custom in wars in those times and still applicable in both Christian Pogroms and Muslim Pogroms of Jews) he was to make her look ugly to himself with a shaven head and nails that were less attractive. On the spiritual side remove the cause from the Yetzer.

13 and she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thy house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month; and after that thou may go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.

The same lousy garment that she came with perhaps immodest or perhaps ragged and unwashed for a month so that she was even more repulsive on the physical level. She may grow to hate you mourning her family way of life and after a one night stand, you ignore her. The best way to fight the Yetzer is to attempt to kill it and the source of it like stepping on the head of a snake.

14 And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not deal with her as a slave, because thou hast humbled her.

There was a different story if you took a woman as a slave for your wife in which case she could look attractive and if you took her as a female companion for your pleasure. Suddenly after a month, you realize that her personality is rotten or she hates you or is repelled by you like Amnon and Tamar in the book of Shmuel.

15 If a man have two wives, the one beloved, and the other hated, and they have borne him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the first-born son be hers that was hated;

Question - so if Reuven was the real first born of Yacov why did Yosef get the double portion? Answer – because actually Yacov was promised Rachel and not Leah and because of this actually it should be Rachel’s child that inherits the double portion otherwise Reuven would have deserved it. Alternatively, Yacov lived before Matan Torah and therefore marrying two sisters or some say four sisters from Lavan’s side (he was the biological father of the slave girls too) would not have been permissible.

16 then it shall be, in the day that he causes his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved the first-born before the son of the hated, who is the first-born; 17 but he shall acknowledge the first-born, the son of the hated, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath; for he is the first-fruits of his strength, the right of the first-born is his.

This protects the first born from the hated wife.

18 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, that will not hearken to the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and though they chasten him, will not hearken unto them; 19 then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place; 20 and they shall say unto the elders of his city: 'This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he doth not hearken to our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.' 21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die; so shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

In Sanhedrin there is a rule described that the voice of the mother has to sound like the voice of the father and vice versa so that they are equally complaining. The Gemara says that this never happened as the son had to be up to 13.5 years. Elsewhere somebody writes that the number went up but not by much.

22 And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree; 23his body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt surely bury him the same day; for he that is hanged is a reproach unto God; that thou defile not thy land which the LORD thy God gives thee for an inheritance

Even if the man sinned and was disgusting, he is forgiven as his death atones for him. One must take him down in honor of a man who was in the form or image of his CREATOR. The land must remain holy.

22:1 Thou shalt not see thy brother's ox or his sheep driven away, and hide thyself from them; thou shalt surely bring them back unto thy brother.

By returning a lost item one makes a Kiddush HASHEM and can bring around somebody to Torah.

2 And if thy brother be not nigh unto thee, and thou know him not, then thou shalt bring it home to thy house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother require it, and thou shalt restore it to him. 3 And so shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his garment; and so shalt thou do with every lost thing of thy brother's, which he hath lost, and thou hast found; thou may not hide thyself.

Don’t let your Yetzer get the better of you.

4 Thou shalt not see thy brother's ass or his ox fallen down by the way, and hide thyself from them; thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again.

The Mitzva is so important that one has to go out of his way to help.

5 A woman shall not wear that which pertains unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment; for whosoever doeth these things is an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

Again one of the few times abomination is used in the Torah and again it deals with Homosexual Practices or at least Transvestite or Cross Dressing.

6 If a bird's nest chance to be before thee in the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young; 7 thou shalt in any wise let the dam go, but the young thou may take unto thyself; that it may be well with thee, and that thou may prolong thy days.

It once happened that Acher saw a father command his son to go up a tree to bring down the bird’s nest. He did and fell from the height and died. Both Honor Thy Father and Mother and the Bird’s Nest describe long life. The Rabbis answered Long Life in the True World after life and not in our false problematic world.

8 When thou build a new house, then thou shalt make a parapet for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thy house, if any man fall from thence.

A person is required to provide a safe environment and himself regarding going on a cruise.

9 Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with two kinds of seed; lest the fullness of the seed which thou hast sown be forfeited together with the increase of the vineyard.

Kilayim in the field or with animals is forbidden.

10 Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together. Ibid.

11 Thou shalt not wear a mingled stuff, wool and linen together.

This is the law of Shatnez.

12 Thou shalt make thee twisted cords upon the four corners of thy covering, wherewith thou cover thyself.

13 If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her, 14 and lay wanton charges against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say: 'I took this woman, and when I came nigh to her, I found not in her the tokens of virginity'; 15 then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate. 16 And the damsel's father shall say unto the elders: 'I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hates her; 17 and, lo, he hath laid wanton charges, saying: I found not in thy daughter the tokens of virginity; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity.' And they shall spread the garment before the elders of the city. 18 And the elders of that city shall take the man and chastise him. 19 And they shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel; and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.

This is his punishment for false accusation. The only way the accusation can exist if one took a witness or two otherwise it is Lashon HaRa and the man must wait for his passport before flying.

20 But if this thing be true, that the tokens of virginity were not found in the damsel; 21 then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die; because she hath wrought a wanton deed in Israel, to play the harlot in her father's house; so shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee.

We are talking here of a marriage contracted but not consummated. However, if the woman can explain that she had an accident such as falling off a horse or some other reason we believe her.

22 If a man be found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they shall both of them die, the man that lay with the woman, and the woman; so shalt thou put away the evil from Israel.

However if there is only one witness a death penalty cannot be applied or they ceased the act upon being warned in which case a divorce it the correct action.

23 If there be a damsel that is a virgin betrothed unto a man, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; 24 then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die: the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbor's wife; so thou shalt put away the evil from the midst of thee.

Assuming that this was a city in Israel and not what happened to the non-Jewish reporter in the middle of a public square in Cairo or the famous NYC murder in Queens where 143 people heard and/or watched and nobody called 911.

25 But if the man find the damsel that is betrothed in the field, and the man take hold of her, and lie with her; then the man only that lay with her shall die. 26 But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death; for as when a man rises against his neighbor, and slays him, even so is this matter. 27 For he found her in the field; the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her.

Obviously a tiny female against a physically brutish male does not stand a chance unless she is a black belt in defense tactics.

28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, that is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; 29 then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he hath humbled her; he may not put her away all his days.

This may turn out to be a very big punishment for the man as a raped woman is not a seduced woman and she will harbor hatred towards her rapists unless she was turning herself into bait and he swallowed it into a marriage.

23;1 A man shall not take his father's wife, and shall not uncover his father's skirt.

As simple as this sounds it is additional to his mother as often an old man in Biblical Times and even today in Arab Countries marries very young women or even girls that the son would be tempted to like.

2 He that is crushed or maimed in his privy parts shall not enter into the assembly of the LORD.

A Cohain in service or any Yisrael could not participate in the Regel. Mr. Ezra Cohen aka Dana International who underwent physical anatomical changes is banned from the Congregation and I speculate in his/her case not only in this world but I am not a judge in the next.

(I don’t know all the modern rulings on this but the Rebbe from Kalav was attacked by the Nazis in the war and people like him may be an exception considering the level of Kedushah and the fact that he was not born like this but attacked against his will.)

The Bastard is not guilty but cannot marry a Jewess or Jew. If he marries a non-Jew, the children can convert as simple Gerim and are kosher to marry.

7 Thou shalt not seek their peace nor their prosperity all thy days for ever. 8 Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite, for he is thy brother; thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian, because thou was a stranger in his land. 9 The children of the third generation that are born unto them may enter into the assembly of the LORD.

After conversion, the third generation can enter the Congregation as a full Jew.

… 13 Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad. 14 And thou shalt have a paddle among thy weapons; and it shall be, when thou sit down abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee. 15 For the LORD thy God walks in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up your enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy; that He see no unseemly thing in thee, and turn away from thee.

The Torah requires cleanliness in the area and for prayer and one must cover up his excrement and filth and keep the camp clean and holy.

16 Thou shalt not deliver unto his master a bondman that is escaped from his master unto thee; 17he shall dwell with thee, in the midst of thee, in the place which he shall choose within one of thy gates, where it likes him best; thou shalt not wrong him.

It was expected that a Master treat his slave well but if the slave who was expected to serve the Master ran away, he was not to be returned unless he did so on his own free will.

18 There shall be no harlot of the daughters of Israel, neither shall there be a sodomite of the sons of Israel. 19 Thou shalt not bring the hire of a harlot, or the price of a dog, into the house of the LORD thy God for any vow; for even both these are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

Women are to be treated with respect and in turn act respectfully and modestly in Israel. Modest Dress is the crown of a Jewish Woman.

20 Thou shalt not lend upon interest to thy brother: interest of money, interest of victuals, interest of anything that is lent upon interest.

The exception is a business loan or investment but not a personal loan even if you lose out a little for you should help your brother.

21 Unto a foreigner thou may lend upon interest; but unto thy brother thou shalt not lend upon interest; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all that thou put thy hand unto, in the land whither thou goes in to possess it.

During the middle ages the only business that the ruling Gentiles would allow the Jew to do outside of the Ghetto or Community was the hateful Jewish Loan.

Doing Teshuva - repenting - is a Mitzva mentioned in the Torah. Even though Hashem is prepared to accept our Teshuva all year round, the days from Rosh Chodesh Elul until Yom Kippur are an auspicious period for improving ones ways. This dates back to when Moshe went up to Har Sinai to receive the second set of Luchos; Moshe went up on Rosh Chodesh Elul and returned 40 days later on Yom Kippur with the second set of Luchos. According to some opinions, today (7 Elul) the 10 spies died as a punishment for talking evil about the land of Israel. Any speech that can result in a person being harmed - emotionally, financially or otherwise - even if it's accurate - is usually forbidden. When there's a real need for the information to be passed along - e.g. to prevent harm to others - it is often permitted to relay the information. One needs to learn the Halachos of when this applies, since sometimes it's forbidden to withhold the information, other times it's forbidden to relay the information. Description: Is There a Bracha That One Recites During an Earthquake? If a person experiences an earthquake, is there a Bracha that he must recite?

The Mishna in Maseches Berachos (54) writes that one who experiences “Zeva’ot” recites the Beracha of “Baruch Ata Hashem…Oseh Maaseh Beresheis.” Rashi, based on the Gemara, explains the word “Zeva’ot” as referring to earthquakes. Accordingly, Maran rules in the Shulchan Aruch (Orach Chaim 227:1) that when experiencing an earthquake one recites the Beracha of “Oseh Maaseh Beresheis.” This Halacha is also mentioned by Maharam Ibn Habib (Israel, 1654-1696), in a responsum cited by the Chida (Rav Chaim Yosef David Azulai, 1724-1806), in his Birkeh Yosef (227).

The Petah Ha’debir (Rabbi Chaim Pontremoli, Turkey, early 18th century) noted that in his area, when an earthquake struck, people did not recite the Beracha of “Oseh Maaseh Beresheis,” and instead recited the verse “Shema Yisrael Hashem Elokaynu Hashem Ehad.” He writes that presumably, people were simply not in the frame of mind during an earthquake to recite the Beracha required by Halacha, and instinctively recited “Shema Yisrael.” Halachically speaking, however, one should certainly recite the Beracha of “Oseh Maaseh Beresheis.”

If an earthquake is followed by aftershocks, does one recite a Beracha over each aftershock, or does the Beracha recited over the initial tremor cover the subsequent quakes, as well?

The Halacha in this case resembles the law concerning the Berachos over thunder and lightning. If a person recited the Berachos during a thunderstorm, and then the storm passed, the sun came out, and things returned to normal, he would recite the Berachos anew if another storm then hits and he sees lightning and hears thunder. In the case of an earthquake, too, if a person recovered and regained his bearings after the quake, resuming his normal routine, and then he experiences an aftershock, he should recite the Beracha again. If, however, the aftershock occurs while he is still reeling from the initial tremor, then he does not repeat the Beracha.

The Gemara and Yerushalmi give several reasons for why earthquakes occur. Leaving aside the seismological causes, our Sages pointed to several factors on account of which God will cause the earth to shake. Notably, one of the reasons given in the Yerushalmi (Berachos, chapter 9) is the legalization of Mishkab Zachur (same-gender relationships). The institutionalizing of this perverse behavior, the Sages teach, causes the earth to tremble. Although we never truly know God’s calculations, it is hard to ignore the fact that recently, an earthquake was felt by millions of people across the East Coast of the United States – a very rare event – just a few short months after this perversion was given formal legalization in New York.

In any event, it is certainly clear that the advent of an earthquake should inspire us to redouble our efforts to repent and grow in our Torah observance.

Summary: If one experiences an earthquake, he should recite the Beracha of “Oseh Maaseh Beresheis.” If aftershocks occur after he had already recovered and moved on from the initial quake, then he should recite the Beracha again. The occurrence of an earthquake should be taken as a “wakeup call” to repentance and renewed efforts to grow spiritually.

Social Unrest the Truth and the Lies

Last week Israel saw a social justice protest demonstrations which brought throughout the cities of Israel an estimated few hundred thousand people. The truth is that many of the demonstrators such as University Students, lower social strata in Israel, etc. cannot afford housing during the current housing shortage caused by the destruction of Gush Katif and the lack of building in Yehuda and the Shomron. The rampant inflation and unwarranted raising of the prices of goods in the supermarket chains have sparked outrage.

The Lies: The original leader of the protest tent in Tel Aviv named Lief is an ardent socialist and anti-Israeli living in the heart of Israel aka Yehuda and the Shomron she refused to serve in the army and her “poor” family prepared enough medical documents to get her out of the army. He lack of housing family owns land in Kfar Shemayahu Israel worth millions upon millions of dollars. She called upon everybody to resign and the independent professor whom the government set up to investigate solutions to the housing crises and price increases was declared by this self-appointed female Moshiach as invalid. In the protest which started out as a Shabbos Violation in Tel Aviv not the same as the Yerushalayim one had people holding placards advertising the 24/7 market that violates the Shabbos and perhaps sells swine meat and disgusting creatures that are forbidden to eat from the sea.

In conclusion there is social injustice in Israel. Nurses, doctors and academics are well underpaid and workers in the electricity plants and ports are well over paid because they can shut things down in this country. There are 400 doctors who are willing to leave Israel for Australia if their employment conditions do not improve which will cause a further shortage of doctors as many do not want to go into a profession when a lawyer, port worker, electric lineman work less and earn twice or three times doctors who work 60 or more hours a week. Somebody has to show leadership and straighten things out.

Jewish Love at First Sight – Three Stories (from 8 years ago updated)

This week I would like to write three stories about love at first sight. We always get shaken up before the High Holidays about G-D judging the world and who will live and who will die by earthquake, fire, plague, that we forget that G-D also picks up the fallen and ordains marriages and births on the High Holidays. We know that both Sarah our mother and Chana were answered on Rosh Hashanah.

Orthodox Jews only go out on dates when the goal is marriage. Therefore, the person looks at the other side not only for beauty but for personality, compatibility and the possibility of raising children and spending ones golden anniversary together. When my daughter, Leah, was in her last year of Seminary, we contacted friends and one or two Shachanim (matchmakers) to find her a nice fellow. My daughter wanted a man who worked, like myself, and who would sit and learn Torah in the late afternoon through the late evening. However, the standard in the Charedi Community is that the Yeshiva Student goes on and learns Torah all the time it is financially possible before he starts to work.

My daughter met Charedi boys but they were usually Yeshiva drop outs or were more overweight than I. (To put it mildly, I am far-far from Anorexic and my daughter is very thin.) In the meantime, her former classmate, a Yemenite girl married a nice Yemenite Yeshiva Bachur. They suggested about the time my daughter had dated two or three fellows that she should consider a Yeshiva Bachur from Petach Tikva, who had been in the same class as my son, Chaim. Chaim told us that he was a fellow who did not talk too much, was very brilliant and had gotten his matriculation certificate. Since my daughter was a chatterbox and sweeter than she was brilliant and the fellow wanted to sit and learn Torah all the time, we suggested that she continue looking. He thought also that how can he start dating a sister of a former classmate and also put it off.

About 4 months later after dating over a dozen boys and he dated over a dozen girls, their friends convinced them to meet. My daughter was dressed for a wedding of her friend in Yerushalayim and Ariel was learning in a Yeshiva in Yerushalayim so they decided to meet there. They had already seen the pictures of the other at the wedding of the Yemenite couple so they knew who would be there at the other end of the blind date. Ariel was surprised that Leah was prettier than her picture and her extroverted personality helped overcome his shyness. The morning after they met he went for a blood test to see if they would not have the Tay-Sachs Gene so that they could get married. Leah took until the 3rd date to be convinced that Ariel was for her. Of course Ariel being brilliant and G-D fearing and looking a little like the actor Jimmy Stewart also helped Leah's decision along. They are happily married for over 16 years and have B”H very refine children who have as their main hobby reading library books and stories. The little ones are playing with toys and the older ones are busy reading book after book.

My friend and former roommate in Yeshiva, Zev, was approaching 30 and still a shy G-D fearing working man. He came to stay with me Pessach 5733. He wanted to see Eretz Yisrael and possibly meet a nice maiden. My friend and partial mentor Rav Yerachmiel Kram Shlita saw Zev in Schul. I explained to him who Zev was and asked him if he knew of a nice girl for him. He suggested that I speak to my next door neighbor who had a sister who was a kindergarten teacher. Zev was tall and thin and could talk very little Hebrew but understood simple Hebrew. When he met Levana, she did all the talking and he began to feel comfortable with her. He liked her and wanted to continue communication, but Pessach was ending and he was going to fly back to the States. She told him plain and simple, romance cannot continue continents apart, one of us is going to have to make a move so either we get engaged and decide that we will marry and which continent we will live or we part our ways. Zev began to think and knew that

she was right. Now the question was where to live in NYC or Ashdod. I told him that according to the Prophets the Moshiach is not supposed to form a kingdom in NYC so it was better to wait here in Eretz Yisrael. Zev and Levana married a month of so before the Yom Kippur War and 38 years later are still married and grandparents.

The most amazing story of love at first sight that I know of is the story of Michael and Lizet. Approximately 23 or more years ago, Assad opened up the gates of Syria to Jewish women who would promise to marry an American so that they would not make Aliyah to Israel. An Orthodox Jewish Officer in the Medical Corp Michael did not have that much contact with Frum women. Somehow he became one of the Orthodox participants in a bunch of blind dates in Paris with the Syrian potential brides. He looked handsome, she looked pretty but she didn't speak a word of English and he didn't speak a word of Arabic. Somehow though smiles, sign language, pantomime etc. they communicate agreed to get married and now it was a race against time to get her a visa/green card and back to the States as Michael had only a short leave. The US Embassy was very helpful. After a number of children and marrying off their oldest daughter, one can see them smiling romantic moonbeams at each other and although Lizet speaks English quite well, they seem to communicate telepathic between themselves. As a Paramedic I once participated in a drill but it was brought to me not as a drill but the real thing it was 30 years ago in November and the peace treaty with Egypt was being implemented and I was about to be transferred to Northern Israel. The base was near a civilian Atomic Research Facility not Dimona. I never mentioned to anybody the code name. However, the code of the drill is now public knowledge so I can up my mouth after 30 years.

With the expected Resolution at the UN favoring another Palestinian State, the Palestinian Authority will effectively declare war against the Jewish State of Israel. The Palestinians will then use a tactic favored by the cruel Ayatollahs of Iran: Human Wave Attacks. In Iran’s war with Iraq, they would force young boys to walk through the marshy mine fields to detonate mines, thus clearing the way for the regular Iranian soldiers.

The Palestinians under Mahmoud Abbas, in cooperation with Hamas who will be the eventual masters of the Palestinians, will send Human Waves against the civilian communities of Judea and Samaria. Many Palestinians will die but, this will clear the way for the armored vehicles of the PA and the PA soldiers trained, armed and funded by the Europeans and Americans to march on these civilian communities.

Obviously, after the UN vote, Israel must strike pre-emptively and take control of all those Arab towns from whence these Human Wave attacks will originate. Only that way will they be able to keep Palestinian casualties to a minimum as well as protecting Jewish communities in Judea, Samaria, the Jordan Valley and even parts of Jerusalem – including the Jewish Quarter.
