My head was still on the miracles of the Iranian Attack. In fact they tried to launch 201 missiles of which 181 got off the ground and most were shot down. Some landed near the sea and a few on the Hatzor and Nevatim Airforce Bases with no Israeli killed. WHAT A MIRACLE!
Simply I remember the reading
of Rosh Hashanah was Avraham and it was Yishmael being judged to be a great
nation at the time.

Parsha Hazinu
This song was taught to
the people. The only way to sing it today is by the Trop (Cantillation) of the
Torah Reading. So the Yemenite, Sephardim and Ashkenazim will have different
tunes. Add it to the various pronunciations from the diaspora and the sounds

As I have often stated
that in Kabbalah the inanimate is alive. Physicists might call it frequency of
vibration that we can measure. They are alive with the spirit of HASHEM as
there is nothing without HIM. They are your witnesses.

The Torah and Mitzvos
are pure, delicate and refreshingly sweet. May I add it is we who do not
understand the combination of Lulav, Hadas, Arava and Esrog that represent the
letters of Yud then Hey and Vav and Hey. Neither do I understand why these
particular species the sanctification of THE NAME in this world and the next
but they are the sweet things of Torah that prepare our soul for great
holiness.

I will proclaim the name of the LORD; ascribe ye greatness unto our

God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and right is He.
Even if we don’t
understand the reason why and what we call “Karma” today everything from HASHEM
is for our good.

If this was said of the
generation of Moshe and those who heard him, learned Torah from him and saw all
the miracles what can I say 3,336.5 years after leaving Mitzrayim to our weak
generation? We are so far removed from the source, corrupted by all the news
and nations around us with our great Sages gone and a few elders left.
6 Do
ye thus requite the LORD, O foolish people and unwise? is not He thy father
that hath gotten thee? hath He not made thee, and established thee?
The L-RD is our father
and creator.
7 Remember
the days of old, consider the years of many generations; ask thy father, and he
will declare unto thee, thine elders, and they will tell thee.
This refers to one’s
father and elders.
8 When
the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when He separated the
children of men, He set the borders of the peoples according to the number of
the children of Israel. 9 For the portion of the LORD is His people,
Jacob the lot of His inheritance. 10 He found him in a desert land,
and in the waste, a howling wilderness; He compassed him about, He cared for
him, He kept him as the apple of His eye. 11 As an eagle that stirs
up her nest, hovers over her young, spreads abroad her wings, taketh them, bears
them on her pinions--
The L-RD created Am
Yisrael, watched over us, watches over us and will watch over us. Just as an
Eagle brings food to her young in a high protected nest, so too it is HASHEM
that can protect us from 201 attempted launched missile that were cut down to
181 and those not shot down landed it vacant areas. What was clear to the
handmaiden at the splitting of the sea is hard for a modern professor to
understand and comprehend.
12 The
LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with Him. 13 He
made him ride on the high places of the earth, and he did eat the fruitage of
the field; and He made him to suck honey out of the crag, and oil out of the
flinty rock;
Even if in our eyes it
appears bad, what HASHEM does for us is like handing out sweet treats to us.
14 Curd
of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan,
and he-goats, with the kidney-fat of wheat; and of the blood of the grape thou
drank foaming wine.
All good from HASHEM so
even the “bad” or difficult is good.
15 But
Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked--thou didst wax fat, thou didst grow thick, thou
didst become gross--and he forsook God who made him, and contemned the Rock of
his salvation.
This happened in the reign of King Menashe after his father,
Hezkiyahu, brought out wealth and happiness with his following the Mitzvos that
defeated Sancheriv. Later generations there were the Beotusim, Saddukim
(Sadducees), here and there unto the so-called modernization to be like the
Goyim of the Reform that provoked the German Hatred or Jews trying to replace
them. So that even converted Jews who did not know Judaism from birth were sent
to the Concentration Camps.
16 They
roused Him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations did they provoke
Him. 17 They sacrificed unto demons, no-gods, gods that they knew

It does not matter how
they did it through ancient gods, demons and atheism.

You say these gods or
others even no-gods. OK, I will hide myself from you and not offer you the
protection of an eagle hovering over her nest. You will get a heap of evils and
not be able to deal with them.
24 The
wasting of hunger, and the devouring of the fiery bolt, and bitter destruction;
and the teeth of beasts will I send upon them, with the venom of crawling
things of the dust. 25 Without shall the sword bereave, and in the
chambers terror; slaying both young man and virgin, the suckling with the man
of gray hairs.
How potent is this. I am
writing this on Oct. 7th a year after the statue of Buddha was in
the middle of the Super-Nova Song Fest on a Yom Tov in Park Reem. Nobody wished
these 328 youths that died bad or those injured or the fearful escapes. It was
even announce that another died in captivity with a few alive. All this for not
observing Yom Tov and the stupid statue that they did not worship. Perhaps a
number lived because they had done some Mitzvos or had the potential of Teshuva
or they grew up like a non-Jew complete devoid of the idea of Mitzvos. The
Torah does not distinguish between having fun and crowd pressure causing
violations of Shabbos and Yom Tov and the lack of education on the importance
of observance. Perhaps HASHEM does but the Pshat (textual understanding) is
that you should have been taught this song in your youth. [If I recall I was 20
or 21 when I first encountered this so I do have compassion for the uneducated
Jews who never knew what Torah was.]
26 I
thought I would make an end of them, I would make their memory cease from among
men; 27 Were it not that I dreaded the enemy's provocation, lest

G-D would have killed
everybody outright if it were not that the Nations might think the Holy Land
had special powers and not from G-D.

There are no wise people
left to council them. After Rav Moshe Feinstein and Rav Yacov Kanjievsky died
there was Rav Shach, Rav Eliyashiv and still others of that generation. But
with the death of Rav Chaim Kanjievsky and Rav Gershon Edelstein a handful of
lesser Rabbis have taken over and my generation is even weaker.

should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their
Rock had given them over and the LORD had delivered them up? 31 For
their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.
The opposite of the Six
Day and miracles of Arabs fleeing. Some saw Abu Ibraham fighting for Am Yisrael
and they fled. (Avraham father of the Yishmaelim). But if the L-RD remove HIS
Hashgacha from us then like a leaf the enemies shall chase us away.
32 For
their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah; their grapes
are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter; 33 Their wine is the
venom of serpents, and the cruel poison of asps. 34 'Is not this laid
up in store with Me, sealed up in My treasuries?
The teachings of the
Saddukim or Reform that are poison to the ways of Torah.
They bring about
bitterness in this world and the next.
35 Vengeance
is Mine, and recompense, against the time when their foot shall slip; for the
day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that are to come upon them
shall make haste. 36 For the LORD will judge His people, and repent
Himself for His servants; when He sees that their stay is gone, and there is
none remaining, shut up or left at large.
We say “Somayk Noflim”
in the Shemona Esray. “When our foot slips your loving kindness upholds us”.
But if you do not observe, then when your foot slips, you will lose your
balance and face whatever dangers might lie in wait.
37 And
it is said: Where are their gods, the rock in whom they
trusted; 38 Who did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the
wine of their drink-offering? let him rise up and help you, let him be your
protection.
So you chose Atheism,
Woke Culture or Black Lives Matter and I don’t want to here anything else. OK

now that I, even I, am He, and there is no god with Me; I kill, and I make

You will have the power
to see the land. I have a gut feeling that HASHEM not only let Moshe see the
land from a distance but HE game Moshe telescopic vision.

And this is the blessing wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of
Israel before his death. 2 And he said: The LORD came from Sinai, and
rose from Seir unto them; He shined forth from mount Paran, and He came from

All the nation is
gathered by Moshe for this farewell speech. G-D is King for them.

In the last census,

this for Judah, and he said: Hear, LORD, the voice of Judah, and bring him in
unto his people; his hands shall contend for him, and Thou shalt be a help

The Leviim and Cohanim
shall bless the nation and teach Torah. In the last two centuries the
Soloveitchik Rabbanim and the Rav Kuk family have lead Torah throughout the
land.

covers him all the day, and He dwelleth between his shoulders.
Shoulders refer to the
Mikdash that was not built on the highest mountain in Benyamin but Har HaBeis

The mountains of Schem
and the two sections of Menashe on the Golan and in Shomron.

Zevulun would get the
area around Haifa-Acco for trade and support Yissachar in Torah Learning.

Rashi states that Gad
was on the Border and they were fierce like lion they would slay in battle the
enemy chopping off in one blow the head and arm.

what we call today Tel Dan, Metula, Beit Hillel, Kiriat Shemona and close by.

26 There
is none like unto God, O Jeshurun, who rides upon the heaven as thy help, and
in His excellency on the skies. 27 The eternal God is a
dwelling-place, and underneath are the everlasting arms; and He thrust out the
enemy from before thee, and said: 'Destroy.' 28 And Israel dwelleth
in safety, the fountain of Jacob alone, in a land of corn and wine; yea, his

Israel will conquer and
possess the land.
34:1
And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto mount Nebo, to the top of
Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the LORD showed him all the land, even
Gilead as far as Dan;
Rashi says he showed him
Shimshon. However, the Pshat is that either he showed him the area of Dan what
is Banias in the north or Dan as in Gush Dan north of Tel Aviv today.
2 and
all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah
as far as the hinder sea;
The Sea of Galilee aka
Kinneret.
3 and
the South, and the Plain, even the valley of Jericho the city of palm-trees, as

Zoar is where road 90
today turns left towards Eilat and the road goes into route 31 heading right

The Midrash tells of a
kiss from HASHEM to Aaron and the same to Moshe.
6 And
he was buried in the valley in the land of Moab over against Beth-peor; and no
man knows of his sepulcher unto this day.
When the Torah writes
this it means to the best guess that I can make that he went into a cave along
the Syrian-African fault on the Jordanian side and a massive earthquake cause
the ground to move in such a manner that nobody could ever find it. I recently
saw on Youtube “they found Moses grave” it is some falsified nonsense to
propagandize stuff foreign to Torah and Judaism.
7 And
Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor
his natural force abated. 8 And the children of Israel wept for Moses
in the plains of Moab thirty days; so the days of weeping in the mourning for
Moses were ended.
During this time, one
can assume that the leaders reviewed Torah in each tribe.
9 And
Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his
hands upon him; and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the
LORD commanded Moses.
The laying of the hands
is called Semicha or Ordination not only as Rabbi-Leader-King but also prophet.
10 And
there hath not arisen a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD
knew face to face; 11 in all the signs and the wonders, which the
LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh, and to all his servants,
and to all his land; 12 and in all the mighty hand, and in all the
great terror, which Moses wrought in the sight of all Israel.
Avos calls Moshe like
the Sun and Yoshua like the moon. That was a waning of prophecy and leadership
but enough to carry a nation willing to fight to conquer the land. At this
point the people under 40 had been born free and those under 45 had been too
young to really taste slavery in Egypt. The others had seen the miracles in
their youth and it had penetrated their being.

Workaholic and Prayer Failure
Ok, I finally have to
admit that “If you try to grab the majority of things – you grabbed nothing” –
the Talmud. I tried to put out the whole weekly Drasha with quality but a
Houthi attack the previous Shabbos and 40minutes in the shelter from Iran and
the deadline to publish had a toll on me. I am also working on converting my
house to Solar Energy. If we had one or two blackouts a year during high power
consumption in the past years, Israel without rocket attacks is experiencing a
few hours sometimes a few times almost every month. With a lot of food in the
refrigerator – deep freezer, it started to be a concern. Then the need for at
least a fan or air conditioner with my heart problems in the summer it became
more imperative. However, that meant finding a roofer to reinforce the roof and
some repairs to the home electric system. In short, a project in itself which
might have been easy when I was 40 building this house but not so easy as a
senior citizen.
Then combined with all
that clogging my mind, on Rosh Hashanah, I stood before the True Judge and
mumbled and jumbled words. A word salad as empty as a political speech before
the L-RD when my life, my family, my fortune is at stake. I came out of the 8
prayers of Rosh Hashanah with not much feeling – my head was somewhere in the
tunnels of Gaza with hostages alive or dead or with the refugees of the
northern border but not with Rabbi Pauli.
I did have one virtue
left, my wife and I had a widow over for a Rosh Hashanah meal. The first day
she barely came to hear a few minutes of Shofar in the Schul and the second day
she felt better and the pressure of the week I had gotten off my chest. So, we
racked up a bit of a Mitzvah to help the scale of justice.
Now, I still have a
chance before HASHEM. I have to repent my sins. One of them listed is praying
without feeling. In Kabbalah that is producing shells or like skins of fruit
called Kilipos. With my prayers, Rabbi Yehuda Yosefi Shlita would say Mussar to
me that you need a garbage truck or two to haul all your Kilipos away. I can’t
really argue with that.
So I need rest before
Yom Kippur. I have to work on my concentration of words. As I sit here and
write, I wonder that if I cannot improve myself, how can I ask my readers beg
for forgiveness from HASHEM?
It is true the life of a
man and his strength is like a passing shadow. Just as we have seen in Beirut
the wicked go up and vanish like smoke. As I become older and older the words
“Shema Kolanu” {hear our voices} – “In our old age and our strength fails us –
don’t leave us.” I asked Menashe and one of my grandsons to pray that I have
Kavana and that the intent of my prayers be acceptable in my weaken state.
Kaporos
The “atonement”
ceremony: Our Machzor/Siddur has the pre-Yom Kippur prayer ceremony of Kaporos.
It was such a holding of chicken over one’s head and twirling it around three
times then slaughtering it to give to the poor for a meal or if one was poor to
eat that turned off my grandfather to Judaism. The chicken is slaughtered and
from nerves runs around. But the gentiles completely chop off the heads of
their chickens “And they run around like a chicken with its head chopped off”.
He never witnessed that only the kosher way.
I am sensitive too. I
have seen kosher slaughter. But there is a modern preferred method of Kaporos.
Taking the equivalent to the cost of a chicken or more. Putting the money over
one’s head and twirling it around three times as one says the words about “A
child of man sits in darkness …”. I then take a check from my check book and
redeem the cash on that check. “Ani podeh HaKesef HaZeh al Ha Check HaZeh.” I
redeem this money on this check.
I then donate if I can
even more money to a charity.
Hopefully, my prayers
will be more acceptable from my standpoint and acceptable from G-D’s standpoint

During my seven years of
shalichus in Alabama, I [Rabbi Yitzchak-Meyer Lipszyc] was the official
Contract Rabbi of Maxwell Federal Prison Camp,[1] a large minimum security
facility primarily for 'white-collar' convicts, in Montgomery, On the High Holy
Days [two days of Rosh Hashanah and one more on Yom Kippur], my whole family
would drive the 90 miles from our home in Birmingham, and spend the entire
holidays on prison grounds.
For the duration of the
holidays, the fifteen or so prisoners were left under our jurisdiction. We
prayed together, learned together, rapped together, walked together and ate
together. The effect was three days of pure holiness, felt by prisoners and
visitors alike.
I always had to lead all
the services, including the long Rosh Hashana Musaf prayers
and all five prayer services on Yom Kippur. After all, I was the only one who
could read Hebrew, never mind actually lead the prayers.
Towards the end of Yom
Kippur of 1988, as we were about to begin the Ne'ilah (closing)
services, I turned around to face the worshippers and said: "We are now
about to begin the closing prayers of Yom Kippur. This is our last ditch effort
to ask G-d to forgive our past sins, before the gates of mercy close. But,
with what justification are we requesting G-d to forgive our past?
"Well, I have a
proposal. before we begin Ne'ilah, let us all take just two minutes and choose
one mitzvah (of the 613 commandments in the Torah) that each
one of us will undertake to keep for the coming year. Then that mitzvah will be
our defense argument, so that G-d forgives our past and seals the verdict for a
good year."
I could see on their faces
that my proposal was accepted. So I turned back to my siddur, spent the next
two minutes thinking about my personal commitment, and then, without further
hesitation, began Ne'ilah.
After services were over,
as everyone broke their fast, one inmate, a newcomer, approached me and asked
if he could speak to me. When I answered in the affirmative, he told me his
name is Carl and requested my help in fulfilling the commitment he undertook before
Ne'ilah.
"Which mitzvah did you
undertake," I asked? "To keep the Sabbath," he replied.
"Wow!" I thought
to myself. "I don't think he could have picked a more difficult one."
"If you don't mind my asking," I decided to question him further,
"What made you choose that particular Mitzvah?"
"To be quite
honest," he explained, "I didn't know any other of the Commandments
and I remembered once hearing that G-d set up the Sabbath as a day of
rest."
I explained that Shabbos
was quite a difficult mitzvah to begin with, and that if he wished I could list
for him other Mitzvos which would be much easier to do.
His response was, "No
thanks, Rabbi. I committed myself to Shabbos and I plan to stick with it."
Far be it for me to
discourage a Jew from keeping Shabbos, so I simply asked, "and how can I
help?"
"Well you see,"
he explained "I don't know the laws of Shabbos and I can't read Hebrew, so
I need a list of the do's and the don'ts of Shabbos, in English. I don't need
to hear the philosophy of it, just instructions." I told him that if he
will come the next Tuesday to my weekly class, I would bring him the necessary
books.
Those days there was only
one book that set out all the laws in detail. The next Tuesday I brought him
the two volume set titled "The Laws of Shabbos" by Rabbi Shimon
Eider, a Lakewood NJ rabbinical scholar. Every Tuesday thereafter he came to my
class and would tell me of his progress in regards to his Shabbos observance.
About six weeks later, I
noticed that he was absent from the Tuesday class, so I asked one of the other
inmates, "why didn't he come?"
"Rabbi, you are not
going to believe this," he answered excitedly. "You know those two
books you gave him to study? Well he read in one of them that if the Jews keep
just two consecutive Shabbats, G-d would immediately set them free from exile.
You also taught us that everything that applies to all Jews, surely applies to
each one of us as individuals as well. "'So' this fellow deduced, 'If I
will be careful to keep all the laws of Shabbos for just two weeks, then G-d
will send me home!'"
With this thought in mind,
Carl stayed up four full nights and finished learning the rest of the two
books, memorizing everything, in order for him to know what to do, and
throughout the next two Shabbats he was very careful to follow the laws of
Shabbos to a tee.
That very week after the
second Shabbos, the federal prisons initiated a new program allowing people who
have committed white collar crimes to be released under house arrest. Carl was
the first one the prison authorities let out under that program.
"When we had our
little minyan last Friday night we all danced and sang with him in celebration.
And just the other day he actually left!"
As soon as Carl got out of
jail he called us in Alabama. He asked us a number of questions, including a
few about Shabbat.
I kept in touch with him for several years. He is married and has
children. He keeps Shabbos and kosher, and puts on tefillin daily. Every year
on Yom Kippur he takes upon himself an additional mitzvah.

Biographic note:
Rabbi Yitzchak-Meyer Lipszyc was appointed by the Lubavitcher Rebbe in
1970 to be an official Chabad emissary and help establish Jewish communities
and spread Chassidus throughout the world. He and his wife Leah were
successful shluchim in Michigan (1970-1982), Alabama
(1982-1989), Florida (1989-1991) Brooklyn-the Rebbe's Kollel in Crown Heights
(just him: 1991-1992), Crimea, Ukraine (1992-2019, but in the last five years
running it from his office in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn).
From 2019 and still going strong, here in Tsfat, Israel. Rabbi Lipszyc has
amazing personal stories; the wildest ones sound like they could be scripts for
a movie or a novel!

Shimon D. Eider (December 2, 1938 - September 28, 2007)
was an Orthodox rabbi and a Posek (decider of Jewish law). R. Eider, a
graduate of Yeshiva
University High School for Boys, was a pioneer in the field of
Jewish law in English. He authored several texts. He received his rabbinic
ordination from Rabbi Moshe Feinstein.
He was a longtime resident of Lakewood
Township, New Jersey and an esteemed member of the advanced Kollel
of Beth Medrash Govoha
where he was a student of Rabbi Aharon Kotler. He was frequently consulted as an
expert on the construction of Eruvin and he was also a trailblazer in kashrut. Eider died on September 28, 2007.
Eider was best known for his pioneering works in Jewish
law. He was among the first to write handbooks of practical Halacha for the English speaking public. Many of
the conventions he instituted - for example, writing the main text in English
with Hebrew footnotes on the same page - became standard in the field of
English works of Jewish law. Eider developed a style of writing intended to be
clear for the new student while still useful for the scholar. Eider frequently
consulted with major rabbinic authorities in the writing of his books, as seen
from the countless footnotes. His style of writing is the foundation of most
English works of Halacha published today.
A Rosh Yeshiva of one of the many Draft Dodging
Yeshivas that sprung up during the Viet Nam War invited Rabbi Eider to lecture
there in 1970 aka 5730. Rabbi Rachamim Pauli was at that time a new Baal
Teshuva working in the US Post Office at night and learning during the day.
Rachamim had only learned only a little amount of Talmud. Rabbi Eider sold at
that time a pamphlet or two that became the foundation for his two volumes on
the laws of Shabbos. Rabbi Pauli learned with him until he made Aliyah and then
purchased the two volumes after they were printed and his volumes on the laws
of the Three Weeks. The other books had not been printed yet. – may his
righteous memory be blessed.

the US Issued this advisory: The threat of missile barrages has
