Chag Shavuos, Parsha Naso, story, conclusion of Omer count

Chag Shavuos

This is sort of a wedding anniversary between Am Yisrael and THE HOLY ONE, blessed be HE. Our Ketuvah is the Torah, instead of a ring we were consecrated with Asera Dibros. The first two Dibros were given in seventy languages and heard round the world.

Born and died on Shavuos was David (pronounced DA-VID) Melech Yisrael. Meseches Shabbos describes his death. Since it was a Yom Tov or Yom Tov Shabbos, Shlomo asked how to move his body from the sun to the shade.

In Israel we read Megillas Ruth on the one day of Yom Tov and say Yizchor. In the diaspora the Megilla is read and Yizchor is said on the second day. For Israel it is appropriate to light a 48-hour candle before the Shabbos and in the diaspora a 72 hour candle this year.

One of the main points in the Megilla is said by Ruth and all conversions are based on that. We reject the potential convert three times. Ruth says 1:16 “Entreat me not to leave thee, and to return from following after thee; for whither thou go, I will go; and where thou lodge, I will lodge; thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God; 17 where thou die, will I die, and there will I be buried; the LORD do so to me, and more also, if aught but death part thee and me.” That is the whole essence of conversion. The extreme easiness of the Reform led to the extreme difficulty of the Orthodox and neither have the proper approach any more. But we are dealing with a power entrenchment and as Tractate Sotah 49B mourns ‘the Sages are acting like school boys.’ If the good L-RD will grant me a very long life that I become a senior Sage maybe, I can correct this. However, after seeing the swamp trying to engulf the US President on infrastructure and immigration, I wonder if my influence can do anything?

We eat cheese on Shavuos. The reason is that prior to Matan Torah, we did not know how to properly slaughter animals. So we eat milk products. Also like this year when the Chag falls after a Shabbos another meat meal is a burden on our digestive tract. People like myself that are lactose intolerant, should try to take medicine to counteract the effects and generally “hard cheese”, sheep and goats cheese do not harm digestion. I do eat cheese cake and blinches on the holiday in small amounts. The object of the holiday is to be a joyous occasion.

Names for Chag HaShavuos are: Atzeres HaPesach, Chag a Bikurim (bringing of the first fruits), Chag Matan Torah. All are correct, but almost everybody uses Chag Shavuos with or without the Hay.

Remainder of Parsha Bamidbar

Bamidbar is the third largest Parsha in the Torah and Naso is the largest. Still, I did not want to break up the counting of the Leviim despite the arrangement of the Seder of Torah from our Sages of previous generations.

4:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying: 2 'Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, by their families, by their fathers' houses, 3 from thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter upon the service, to do work in the tent of meeting.

Our previous census was for all the male Leviim in their families from one month upwards. Now for the bearers of the holy items was from thirty until fifty. Those older or younger had no part in the service of carrying the holy items.

4 This is the service of the sons of Kohath in the tent of meeting, about the most holy things: 5 when the camp sets forward, Aaron shall go in, and his sons, and they shall take down the veil of the screen, and cover the ark of the testimony with it; 6 and shall put thereon a covering of giraffe skin, and shall spread over it a cloth all of blue, and shall set the staves thereof.

A giraffe is a large animal so the skin was used. Meaning that the holy items were packed for carrying and handled with tender loving care.

7 And upon the table of showbread they shall spread a cloth of blue, and put thereon the dishes, and the pans, and the bowls, and the jars wherewith to pour out; and the continual bread shall remain thereon.

There is a balancing act of traveling in the wilderness holding the table in balance with the bread, pans, bowls, jars and dishes that nothing slipped and fell during the traveling process. [And you thought making 18 minute Matzos by hand was difficult!] Only at the end of this passage we see who packed it but not how he secured it.

8 And they shall spread upon them a cloth of scarlet, and cover the same with a covering of giraffe skin, and shall set the staves thereof. 9 And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the candlestick of the light, and its lamps, and its tongs, and its snuffdishes, and all the oil vessels thereof, wherewith they minister unto it.

All this too in balance that the snuff and other things did not fall out of their dishes.

10 And they shall put it and all the vessels thereof within a covering of giraffe skin, and shall put it upon a bar. 11 And upon the golden altar they shall spread a cloth of blue, and cover it with a covering of sealskin, and shall set the staves thereof.

The moving was to occur over 30 times in the wilderness as described in Parsha Massei and continued on through the wars of Yehoshua until finally resting in the Mishkan of Shilo with the last two movements to Yerushalayim and settling in the first Mikdash. There are two schools of thought that the utensils were moved under the Temple Mount and the Arabs dug and dug and found nothing and the other school of thought was that they were moved to some cave near the Dead Sea area and covered over to be rediscovered in the days of the Chofetz Chaim and closed in again. A wide enough board carried by a number of Leviim and carefully guarded that it would not tip or slip during the journey. Perhaps all the items were secured by ropes and wrapped tight. (more below)

12 And they shall take all the vessels of ministry, wherewith they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of giraffe skin, and shall put them on a bar.

As above wrapped tight carried on the shoulders with Leviim guards on the side concentrating that items did not slip.

13 And they shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth thereon. 14 And they shall put upon it all the vessels thereof, wherewith they minister about it, the fire-pans, the flesh-hooks, and the shovels, and the basins, all the vessels of the altar; and they shall spread upon it a covering of giraffe skin, and set the staves thereof.

With perhaps the snuff dishes or incense bowls there were not much that could spill out but now the ashes were to be taken and the shovels that had ash upon them. I can only assume that the fire that originally came down from heaven was carried by torches that one had a back-up system in case one was extinguished.

15 And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the holy furniture, and all the holy vessels, as the camp is to set forward--after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear them; but they shall not touch the holy things, lest they die.

So even though they were in charge of moving the items, they could not directly touch them like a Cohain. They had to use the covering to touch them for otherwise they would die or they touched the staves. We only learn at the end that Eleazar did the packing. In the time of David when the Teva was returned by the Plishtim and tilted the Levi who touched it died on the spot. Shmuel II, 6:6 And when they came to the threshing-floor of Nacon, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen stumbled. 7 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God. Prior to receiving Kedusha, a Betzalel could make the object, but once used in the Mikdash, the object was holy and a non-Cohain touching it directly would result in death. Familiarity breeds contempt (this time from HASHEM).

These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tent of meeting. 16 And the charge of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be the oil for the light, and the sweet incense, and the continual meal-offering, and the anointing oil: he shall have the charge of all the tabernacle, and of all that therein is, whether it be the sanctuary, or the furniture thereof.'

Eleazar was the quality control supervisor of these items. He would become the Cohain Gadol and thus had the future right to light the Menorah. The pure oil and the incense were to be kept for the Mikdash. {Note: It is forbidden to make incense and use it outside of the Mikdash. One can bring all the ingredients before a class of young Cohanim and show them even mix one or two items to demonstrate how to incase the Temple will be rebuilt immediately. I know that others make either the same or something similar and sell it to cults and in my youth hippies. I was given a cure for an ailment using the Kotores = incense. The cure might be good for this world, but I would not want to play around with it for the next world.}

17 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying: 18 'Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Komatiites from among the Levites; 19 but thus do unto them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach unto the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden; 20 but they shall not go in to see the holy things as they are being covered, lest they die.'

We learn at the end of this passage the Eleazar and/or other Cohanim did the packing and wrapping into place. The Leviim were only porters who brought to him the planks on top of the blue material and giraffe skins and ropes or tying material. These were the most educated of Am Yisrael and porters in a holy endeavor of which I being an ordinary ben Yisrael could not get the merit to carry such holy objects.

Parsha Naso

4:21 And the LORD spoke unto Moses saying: 22 'Take the sum of the sons of Gershon also, by their fathers' houses, by their families; 23 from thirty years old and upward until fifty years old shalt thou number them: all that enter in to wait upon the service, to do service in the tent of meeting. 24 This is the service of the families of Gershon, in serving and in bearing burdens: 25 they shall bear the curtains of the tabernacle, and the tent of meeting, its covering, and the covering of giraffe skin that is above upon it, and the screen for the door of the tent of meeting;

The Talmud Bavli in the Gemara in Seder Kedoshim mentions that it took 300 Cohanim to Tovel in water the curtains of the Mikdash. This was not an exaggeration as if one takes the length, height and width combined with the weight of the water and surface tension the had to use all the strength that they could muster.

26 and the hangings of the court, and the screen for the door of the gate of the court, which is by the tabernacle and by the altar round about, and their cords, and all the instruments of their service, and whatsoever there may be to do with them, therein shall they serve. 27 At the commandment of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of Gershon, in all their burden, and in all their service; and ye shall appoint unto them in charge all their burden.

Taking the curtains down required diligence and skill. I am thinking that the 30 years took down some cords and held the curtains with their cords while those closer to 50 who had seen the procedure and had the experience did the more difficult job. Eventually all this weight rolled up was placed on a wagon or so.

28 This is the service of the families of the sons of Gershon in the tent of meeting; and their charge shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.

This part was easier and yet the Cohain Gadol handled these items. This may be because the delicate nature of keeping the curtains and other materials from getting Tuma as the boards could not get Tumay.

29 As for the sons of Merari, thou shalt number them by their families, by their fathers' houses; 30 from thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old shalt thou number them, every one that entered upon the service, to do the work of the tent of meeting. 31 And this is the charge of their burden, according to all their service in the tent of meeting: the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof; 32 and the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords, even all their appurtenance, and all that pertains to their service; and by name ye shall appoint the instruments of the charge of their burden. …46 All those that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the princes of Israel numbered, by their families, and by their fathers' houses, 47 from thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entered in to do the work of service, and the work of bearing burdens in the tent of meeting, 48 even those that were numbered of them, were eight thousand and five hundred and fourscore. 49 According to the commandment of the LORD they were appointed by the hand of Moses, everyone to his service, and to his burden; they were also numbered, as the LORD commanded Moses.
5:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 2 'Command the children of Israel, that they put out of the camp every leper, and every one that hath an issue, and whosoever is unclean by the dead; 3 both male and female shall ye put out, without the camp shall ye put them; that they defile not their camp, in the midst whereof I dwell.' 4 And the children of Israel did so, and put them out without the camp; as the LORD spoke unto Moses, so did the children of Israel.

They were outside of the camp but within the area that the army could protect them.

5 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 6 Speak unto the children of Israel: When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to commit a trespass against the LORD, and that soul be guilty;

Trespass on holy items or a Korban.

7 then they shall confess their sin which they have done; and he shall make restitution for his guilt in full, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him in respect of whom he hath been guilty. …11 and the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 12 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them: If any man's wife go aside, and act unfaithfully against him, 13 and a man lie with her carnally, and it be hid from the eyes of her husband, she being defiled secretly, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken in the act; 14 and the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled; or if the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled;

These are the laws of the Sotah. I have always said that if a man pays the proper attention and signs of love to his wife and vice versa then there is no straying. A person who is physically and spiritually satisfied by the attention and love of the partner does not want to or have time to go astray. If a person is not satisfied for whatever reason there will be problems.

… 29 This is the law of jealousy, when a wife, being under her husband, goes aside, and is defiled;

Jealousy is a disease especially if there is no reason for it and it can cause a freedom looking person to go astray. I also knew a couple that years after I transferred from working with them, the husband for no reason put in his mind that his was doing hanky-panky it ended in murder suicide and all her confidential friends could have told him that this was not the case.

30 or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon a man, and he be jealous over his wife; then shall he set the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law. 31 And the man shall be clear from iniquity, and that woman shall bear her iniquity.

The Torah says that if a man sees a Sotah during the time of her act that he should become a Nazir for 30 days.

6:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them: When either man or woman shall clearly utter a vow, the vow of a Nazirite, to consecrate himself unto the LORD, 3 he shall abstain from wine and strong drink: he shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat fresh grapes or dried. 4 All the days of his Naziriteship shall he eat nothing that is made of the grape-vine, from the pressed grapes even to the grapestone. 5 All the days of his vow of Naziriteship there shall no razor come upon his head; until the days be fulfilled, in which he consecrated himself unto the LORD, he shall be holy, he shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow long.
… 22 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 23 'Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying: On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel; ye shall say unto them: 24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee; 25 The LORD make His face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee; 26 The LORD lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. 27 So shall they put My name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

This was probably told to the Cohanim prior to the dedication of the Mishkan but appears here with the workings of the Mishkan.

7:1 And it came to pass on the day that Moses had made an end of setting up the tabernacle, and had anointed it and sanctified it, and all the furniture thereof, and the altar and all the vessels thereof, and had anointed them and sanctified them; 2 that the princes of Israel, the heads of their fathers' houses, offered--these were the princes of the tribes, these are they that were over them that were numbered. 3 And they brought their offering before the LORD, six covered wagons, and twelve oxen: a wagon for every two of the princes, and for each one an ox; and they presented them before the tabernacle.

These were the wagons used by Yacov Avinu which Yosef gave him to get down to Mitzrayim. Now they were coming up from Mitzrayim. The Gemara describes the distribution of the six gifted wagons.

4 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 5 'Take it of them, that they may be to do the service of the tent of meeting; and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, to every man according to his service.' 6 And Moses took the wagons and the oxen, and gave them unto the Levites. 7 Two wagons and four oxen he gave unto the sons of Gershon, according to their service.

These wagons were sufficient to carry the curtains and skins of the Mishkan. They had a lot of weight but

8 And four wagons and eight oxen he gave unto the sons of Merari, according unto their service, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.

Ithamar was the one in charge of the over-sight here and how the walls and bracing materials of the Mishkan were constructed, dismantled and packed on to the wagons.

9 But unto the sons of Kohath he gave none, because the service of the holy things belonged unto them: they bore them upon their shoulders.

These holiest of items were carried by the Bnei Kohath through the wilderness each for a short time with a line of replacements falling behind the leading men so that the Teva was called by 1,3,5 on one side and 2,4,6 on the other. After a short time, 1a,3a,5a took their place in carrying while 1b,3b,5b waited to replace them. In this way nobody got tired carrying too long and the time carrying was not too long with a long rest period in between.

10 And the princes brought the dedication-offering of the altar in the day that it was anointed, even the princes brought their offering before the altar. 11 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'They shall present their offering each prince on his day, for the dedication of the altar.'   13 and his offering was one silver dish, the weight thereof was a hundred and thirty shekels, one silver basin of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal-offering; 14 one golden pan of ten shekels, full of incense; 15 one young bullock, one ram, one he-lamb of the first year, for a burnt-offering; 16 one male of the goats for a sin-offering; 17 and for the sacrifice of peace-offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he-goats, five he-lambs of the first year.

 These gifts are what each prince of each tribe gave. The section ends with the general accounting of Moshe to Am Yisrael of all the gifts of all the tribes together.

… 84 This was the dedication-offering of the altar, in the day when it was anointed, at the hands of the princes of Israel: twelve silver dishes, twelve silver basins, twelve golden pans; 85 each silver dish weighing a hundred and thirty shekels, and each basin seventy; all the silver of the vessels two thousand and four hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; 86 twelve golden pans, full of incense, weighing ten shekels apiece, after the shekel of the sanctuary; all the gold of the pans a hundred and twenty shekels; 87 all the oxen for the burnt-offering twelve bullocks, the rams twelve, the he-lambs of the first year twelve, and their meal-offering; and the males of the goats for a sin-offering twelve; 88 and all the oxen for the sacrifice of peace-offerings twenty and four bullocks, the rams sixty, the he-goats sixty, the he-lambs of the first year sixty. This was the dedication-offering of the altar, after that it was anointed. 89 And when Moses went into the tent of meeting that He might speak with him, then he heard the Voice speaking unto him from above the ark-cover that was upon the ark of the testimony, from between the two cherubim; and He spoke unto him.

Although this is the longest Parsha in the Torah the last chapter is not that hard for a Bar Mitzvah boy as 12 times the presents to the Mishkan are repeated the summation I have kept here and last year or the year before we analyzed their value which is not so much in today’s terms for a tribe to bring as a gift but too expensive for an average wage earner.

Yiddishe Kop story thanks to Chaim B.

Great story, from Israel’s Muslim Quarter, in the Old City. A yeshiva Bochur was walking through the Muslim quarter when an Arab peddler stopped him and tried to sell him a pair of Tefillin. The Arab wanted 1,000 NIS and then bargained down to 800 NIS. The Bochur saw the name ‘Dovid Glick’ on the bag and knew they were probably stolen, but figured it was not a wise idea to confront the Arab about that, which would put his life in danger or make the Arab run off. Instead he told the peddler that he has to think about it, while he consulted with his Rabbi. His Rabbi told him that he should try buy it, but only for a very low price, so as to not encourage the Arab to steal another pair for profit in the future.

 The Bochur returned to the Arab peddler and asked if he can measure them on to see if they fit before deciding to purchase them.  So he put the Tefillin shel yad on his left arm and then proceeded to put the Tefillin shel Rosh on his head. He realized he could not bargain him down by saying they didn’t fit, and suddenly the Bochur had a light-bulb go off in his Yiddishe Kop. He asked the Arab, “Where’s the right hand Tefillin?” The Arab peddler said “This is what my supplier gave me”. The Bochur answered. “It’s worthless if it’s missing the ones for the right hand” At the end, the Arab peddler did not want to lose an interested customer, especially on “worthless goods” so it was sold for the low price of 150NIS. (About $38).”

The Bochur is now excited to find the owner, so that he can fulfill the mitzvah of Hashavas Aveida. If you are Dovid Glick or know who he is, contact Only Simchas News and they put you in touch with this smart young man who rescued your Tefillin. http://bit.ly/1spurlO

Completing the Omer Daily Omer Meditation by Rabbi Simon Jacobson

Day 48 ― Yesod of Malchut: Bonding in Nobility
Examine the bonding aspect of your sovereignty. Healthy independence should not prevent you from bonding with another person. On the contrary: self-confidence allows you to respect and trust another's sovereignty and ultimately bond with him. That bond will strengthen your own sovereignty, rather than sacrifice it.
Does my sovereignty prevent me from bonding? Could that be because of deeper insecurities of which I am unaware? Do I recognize the fact that a fear of bonding reflects a lack of self-confidence in my own sovereignty?
Exercise for the day: Actualize your sovereignty by intensifying your bond with a close one.
Day 49 ― Malchut of Malchut: Nobility in Nobility
Examine the sovereignty of your sovereignty. Does it come from deep-rooted inner confidence in myself? Or is it just a put-on to mask my insecurities? Does that cause my sovereignty to be excessive? Am I aware of my uniqueness as a person? Of my personal contribution?
After the 49 days of Counting the Omer, after having fully achieved inner renewal by merit of having assessed and developed each of our 49 attributes, we arrive at the fiftieth day. On this day we celebrate the Festival of Shavuot, the giving of the Torah (Matan Torah). After we have accomplished all we can through our own initiative, then we are worthy to receive a gift (Matan) from Above which we could not have achieved with our own limited faculties. We receive the ability to reach and touch the Divine; not only to be cultivated human beings who have refined all of our personal characteristics, but divine human beings who are capable of expressing ourselves above and beyond the definitions and limitations of our beings.

Dr. Harry MD sent me this: Bubonic Plague ‘Likely’ Already Present In Los Angeles, Dr. Drew Says May 31, 2019
Los Angeles is going down the drain.

The city, with a population topping four million and a broader metropolitan area with many millions more, is awash in massive problems — overcrowding, lack of housing,  influx of refuges from 3rd world countries, and high demand for free services among them. But other far more serious problems are lurking, Dr. Drew Pinksy said on Thursday.

“We have a complete breakdown of the basic needs of civilization in Los Angeles right now,” Pinsky told Fox New host Laura Ingraham. “We have the three prongs of airborne disease, tuberculosis is exploding, rodent-borne. We are one of the only cities in the country that doesn’t have a rodent control program, and sanitation has broken down.”

Pinsky said bubonic plague — also known as the “Black Death,” a pandemic that killed off millions in the 14th century — is “likely” already present in Los Angeles. The plague is spread by infected fleas and exposure to bodily fluids from a dead plague-infected animal, with the bacteria entering through the skin and traveling to lymph nodes.

Typhus, which broke out in the city last year, will likely return, Pinsky said. Already, a Los Angeles police officer has contracted typhoid fever, which infects fewer than 350 Americans each year. The various types of typhus are caused by a bacterial infection and spread by body lice, chiggers or fleas. In the 1600s, the disease decimated Germany.

“This is unbelievable. I can’t believe I live in a city where this is not Third World. This is medieval,” Pinsky said, according to Fox News. “Third World countries are insulted if they are accused of being like this. No city on Earth tolerates this. The entire population is at risk.”

Even more scary is when Jews in the spirit of Tikun Olam visit refugee centers, with no thought of the possibility of bringing parasites or other diseases home to their communities and families.

Pinsky said the city simply can't handle the demand for services, noting that many homeless are mentally ill and don't want to accept housing.

“The government is somehow insisting that housing is the problem when in fact we have chronic mental illness, we have addiction, we have people who don’t want to leave the streets,” Pinsky said. “They literally won’t take the housing if we give it to them. And that’s the population that’s vulnerable, and is going to get so ill this summer. It scares me for their well-being.”

The famed doctor also said California cities are suffering after allowing thousands of illegal aliens to flow in. He said the liberal politicians running most cities are “disgustingly negligent.”

Homelessness is also exploding in San Francisco — the home district of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat.

“A federal count shows the number of homeless people increased by double-digit percentages in three San Francisco Bay Area counties over two years as the region struggled to tackle the growing problem, including 17% in San Francisco and 43% in the county that includes Oakland,” the Associated Press reported.

Inyanay Diyoma

A Palestinian Uber driver kicked two Jewish women out of his car on May 19 after he learned they were leaving the Israeli-American Council (IAC)’s Celebrate Israel Festival at nearby Rancho Park.

In a phone interview with the Journal, Dayna, (who requested only her first name be used for fear of retaliation), 33, and Rachel (a pseudonym; she requested that no part of her name be used for fear of retaliation) said they were in the back seat of the driver’s car across the street from Rancho Park at Fox Studios when he asked them, “What event were you coming from?” The women responded, “Just an event.” After the driver — who according to his Uber profile is named Mustafa — asked them again where they had come from, and after noticing that the car had not yet moved, Dayna said, “An Israeli Independence Day event.”

The driver then told them to get out of his car.  “He started laughing and he looked us dead in the eye and he said, ‘You need to get out of my car. I’m Palestinian,’ ” Dayna said. “The only reason I can think of that he would ask us which event we were coming from is he clearly wanted to make a statement. It was clear by the families crossing the street and the security that it was an Israel Independence event.”
