Parshiyos Ki Sisa and Parah, 6 original stories, news

Parsha Ki Sisa

Up until now, the Torah has been dealing with what materials were to be brought for the Mishkan and the garments of the Cohanim. This week we finally get to the business of engineering the Mishkan and clothing. Where is Moshe during these Parshiyos, he is up on Har Sinai learning the Mitzvos, Chukkim, Mishpatim, Halachos etc. Note: The commentary is shorter due to six original stories this week.

This Parsha is the largest in Sefer Shemos.

30:11 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 12 'When thou take the sum of the children of Israel, according to their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when thou number them; that there be no plague among them, when thou number them. 13 This they shall give, every one that pass among them that are numbered, half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary--the shekel is twenty gerahs--half a shekel for an offering to the LORD.

The weight is ten gerahs that was a common measurement and known to all. According to my search engine a Shekel is 11.34 grams. Half a shekel is 5.67 grams. Half a shekel is $1.13 as for spot silver at the time of the calculation.

14 Every one that pass among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and upward, shall give the offering of the LORD. 15 The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less, than the half shekel, when they give the offering of the LORD, to make atonement for your souls. 16 And thou shalt take the atonement money from the children of Israel, and shalt appoint it for the service of the tent of meeting, that it may be a memorial for the children of Israel before the LORD, to make atonement for your souls.'

Under the age of 20 one is considered either a child or a youth but not capable of serving in the army.

17 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 18 'Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and the base thereof of brass, whereat to wash; and thou shalt put it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein. 19 And Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat; 20 when they go into the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to cause an offering made by fire to smoke unto the LORD; 21 so they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die not; and it shall be a statute for ever to them, even to him and to his seed throughout their generations.'

The brass laver was made of the mirrors of the righteous women who kept the population by making themselves attractive to their husbands during the murderous times of Pharaoh. Wash their hands and feet from Tuma. But since we are in the middle of the Corona outbreak, I have a tradition that each Parsha has within it current events of the week. One of the things we are told to avoid the virus is to wash with soap and water. The washing cleans off the germs.

22 Moreover the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 23 'Take thou also unto thee the chief spices, of flowing myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty, 24 and of cassia five hundred, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of olive oil a hin. 25 And thou shalt make it a holy anointing oil, a perfume compounded after the art of the perfumer; it shall be a holy anointing oil.

This second deals with the ingredients and the making of the incense for the incense Mizbayach.

31:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 2 'See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; 3 and I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, 4 to devise skillful works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, 5 and in cutting of stones for setting, and in carving of wood, to work in all manner of workmanship.

Hur is about to lose his life on a Kiddush HASHEM in this Parsha. He will get his Olam HaBa and as a reward, his grandson Betzalel shall became the main architect and designer of the metals and wood in the Mishkan to be used in the first Mikdash.

6 And I, behold, I have appointed with him Oholiav, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the hearts of all that are wise-hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee: 7 the tent of meeting, and the ark of the testimony, and the ark-cover that is thereupon, and all the furniture of the Tent; 8 and the table and its vessels, and the pure candlestick with all its vessels, and the altar of incense; 9 and the altar of burnt-offering with all its vessels, and the laver and its base; 10 and the plaited garments, and the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest's office; 11 and the anointing oil, and the incense of sweet spices for the holy place; according to all that I have commanded thee shall they do.'

It is not revealed what his forefather did so one can assume he earned this by his own righteousness.

12 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 13 'Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying: Verily ye shall keep My Sabbaths, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that ye may know that I am the LORD who sanctify you.

Shabbos Kodesh is a special sign or bris between G-D and the Bnei Yisrael.

14 Ye shall keep the Sabbath therefore, for it is holy unto you; every one that profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whosoever does any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

One who purposely violates the Shabbos. Meaning that he knows it is Shabbos. He knows of the 39 Melachos. He knows that he is not supposed to perform a Melacha. This person deserves the death penalty or cutting off from his people aka Kares. However, if he forgot it was Shabbos even for a second and threw a light switch or something similar or forgot that plowing was a Melacha etc., he is called Sogeg and is required in Temple times to bring a Korban Chatas. However, if he grew up let us say Reform and never came in contact with a Torah Jew, he is called a captive among the nations and exempt on the grounds that a young child, insane person, deaf mute or unable to understand and reason – this would include a person with a genius IQ as it is written. “A fool does not understand this.” This theme is in Tehillim 92:6 and Mishlei 18:2. So such a person like a child propagandized by the Reform on primitive and ancient customs would be exempt from the death penalty and Kares. For this reasons I was told by Yacov Glicksman in the name of Rabbi Yacov London that if a Jew is driving a car and asks instructions on Shabbos you give him the shortest route so as to prevent more unnecessary Chillul Shabbos.

15 Six days shall work be done; but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the LORD; whosoever does any work in the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

If he/she was warned by two witnesses and there was a Sanhedrin of at least 23 people, the individual could be tried and sentenced to death.

16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.

It is a positive Mitzvah to rest and refrain from work. It is a pro-active command to guard the observance and holiness of the day. Since one is used to work, special precautions must be in place.

17 It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He ceased from work and rested.'

Between ME and the Bnei Yisrael forever but not the nations of the world. Even a candidate to become a Ger Tzeddek, is required to do one Melacha such as lighting a match on Shabbos so as not to violate the command. Upon a Bris for a man and a Mikvah for both a man or a woman, the Ger now is a full Jew and observes.

18 And He gave unto Moses, when He had made an end of speaking with him upon mount Sinai, the two tables of the testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

At this point, Moshe receives these giant Safire Tablets with the engraving of the Decalogue on them.

32:1 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him: 'Up, make us a god who shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we know not what is become of him.'

This whole section deals with mob rule murdering Hur and making of the Egel HaZahav. Moshe is up the mountain and without an active leader, the masses start to find a gang leader to rule. The worse elements and least common denominators cease power. As was in Egypt just opposite what they heard on Sinai, they want a physical statute to represent their G-D. [HASHEM ELOKIM is still the one they worship just in the image.]

2 And Aaron said unto them: 'Break off the golden rings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.' … 6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt-offerings, and brought peace-offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to make merry.

Besides idol worship making merry with drink and lose modesty. Belly dancing may be an art for Turks and Arabs but was never ever part of true Am Yisrael culture.

7 And the LORD spoke unto Moses: 'Go, get thee down; for thy people, that thou brought up out of the land of Egypt, have dealt corruptly; 8 they have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed unto it, and said: This is thy god, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.' 9 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people. 10 Now therefore let Me alone, that My wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them; and I will make of thee a great nation.' 11 And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said: 'LORD, why doth Thy wrath wax hot against Thy people, that Thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? 12 Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, saying: For evil did He bring them forth, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from Thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against Thy people. 13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Thy servants, to whom Thou didst swear by Thine own self, and said unto them: I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it forever.' 14 And the LORD repented of the evil which He said He would do unto His people.

We say this section every fast day. It is Moshe’s plea to HASHEM against destruction due to the golden calf.

15 And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, with the two tables of the testimony in his hand; tables that were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written. 16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

What should have been the most joyous occasion turned into one of tragedy, slaying of the evil Egel worshipers and making the people drink of the gold mixed with water.

17 And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses: 'There is a noise of war in the camp.' 18 And he said: 'It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome, but the noise of them that sing do I hear.'

I hear the noise of drunkenness, licentiousness, and idolatry.

19 And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing; and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and broke them beneath the mount. 20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it with fire, and ground it to powder, and strewed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it. 21 And Moses said unto Aaron: 'What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought a great sin upon them?'

Moshe could be humble on his own account and power but had to be zealous for HASHEM. He simply lost his temper after calming down HASHEM’s temper.

… 25 And when Moses saw that the people were broken loose--for Aaron had let them loose for a derision among their enemies-- 26 then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said: 'Whoso is on the LORD'S side, let him come unto me.' And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him. 27 And he said unto them: 'Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Put ye every man his sword upon his thigh, and go to and fro from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor.' 28 And the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses; and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men. 29 And Moses said: 'Consecrate yourselves to-day to the LORD, for every man hath been against his son and against his brother; that He may also bestow upon you a blessing this day.'

The death penalty was fast and swift. A onetime prophecy to execute as king without a Sanhedrin.

30 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people: 'Ye have sinned a great sin; and now I will go up unto the LORD, peradventure I shall make atonement for your sin.' 31 And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said: 'Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them a god of gold. 32 Yet now, if Thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray Thee, out of Thy book which Thou hast written.' 33 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Whosoever hath sinned against Me, him will I blot out of My book. 34 And now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee; behold, Mine angel shall go before thee; nevertheless, in the day when I visit, I will visit their sin upon them.'

Despite Moshe putting the mob leaders and followers to death there were others and HASHEM viewed their hearts and kidneys.

35 And the LORD smote the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made. 5 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Say unto the children of Israel: Ye are a stiffnecked people; if I go up into the midst of thee for one moment, I shall consume thee; therefore, now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.'

12 And Moses said unto the LORD: 'See, Thou said unto me: Bring up this people; and Thou hast not let me know whom Thou wilt send with me. Yet Thou hast said: I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in My sight. 13 Now therefore, I pray Thee, if I have found grace in Thy sight, show me now Thy ways, that I may know Thee, to the end that I may find grace in Thy sight; and consider that this nation is Thy people.' 14 And He said: 'My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.' …17 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken, for thou hast found grace in My sight, and I know thee by name.' 18 And he said: 'Show me, I pray Thee, Thy glory.' 19 And He said: 'I will make all My goodness pass before thee, and will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.' 20 And He said: 'Thou canst not see My face, for man shall not see Me and live.' 21 And the LORD said: 'Behold, there is a place by Me, and thou shalt stand upon the rock. 22 And it shall come to pass, while My glory passes by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with My hand until I have passed by. 23 And I will take away My hand, and thou shalt see My back; but My face shall not be seen.'

HASHEM is too beautiful for a human soul to survive inside of a physical body and live.

34:1 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first; and I will write upon the tables the words that were on the first tables, which thou didst break.

Now you will have to use a Kabbalistic formula to make giant sapphire and inscribe on it the Asera Dibros.

2 And be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to Me on the top of the mount. 3 And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.' 4 And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand two tables of stone.

Moshe succeeded in making the Dibros.

5 And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. 6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed: 'The LORD, the LORD, God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth; 7 keeping mercy unto the thousandth generation, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin; and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and unto the fourth generation.' 8 And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped. 9 And he said: 'If now I have found grace in Thy sight, O Lord, let the Lord, I pray Thee, go in the midst of us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for Thine inheritance.' …14 For thou shalt bow down to no other god; for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God; 15 lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go astray after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and they call thee, and thou eat of their sacrifice; 16 and thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go astray after their gods, and make thy sons go astray after their gods.

The inhabitants of Canaan were so steeped in licentiousness and idol worship that their children would try to marry you to become like them. `

17 Thou shalt make thee no molten gods. 18 The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, at the time appointed in the month Abib, for in the month Abib thou came out from Egypt.

You should observe Pesach forever.

19 All that opens the womb is Mine; and of all thy cattle thou shalt sanctify the males, the firstlings of ox and sheep. 20 And the firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break its neck. All the first-born of thy sons thou shalt redeem. And none shall appear before Me empty.

The redemption of the first born is in memory of the tenth of the Makkos that Mitzrayim received until you were redeemed as I kept your first born alive.

21 Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest; in plowing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.

This is a reminder of the seventh day of Pesach and not Shabbos Kodesh for on this day the sea was split.

22 And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, even of the first-fruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the turn of the year. 23 Three times in the year shall all thy males appear before the Lord GOD, the God of Israel.

There are only two Chaggim mentioned above. Yet it says three times a year. Where is the third Regel. If we take a timing of events between Moshe going up and down the mountain the second forty days, end on Yom Kippur. Sukkos had not occurred nor had it been commanded yet only that there would be three Regelim.

24 For I will cast out nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders; neither shall any man covet thy land, when thou go up to appear before the LORD thy God three times in the year. 25 Thou shalt not offer the blood of My sacrifice with leavened bread; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the Passover be left unto the morning. 26 The choicest first-fruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the house of the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in its mother's milk.'

This is the second mention of milk and meat in the Torah.

27 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Write thou these words, for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.' 28 And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten words. 29 And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of the testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses knew not that the skin of his face sent forth beams while He talked with him.

The first time Moshe went up the mountain he also did not eat or drink but was sustained. That time as an ordinary human but now after seeing the back of the
L-RD he was like DIVINE and was given a gift of a glowing face with such light rays emanating from it.

35 And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face sent forth beams; and Moses put the veil back upon his face, until he went in to speak with Him.

Beams of light to such an extent that the people feared and he needed a veil. It is said that when the Malbim died, his body glowed and the burial society was in fear and awe. Only with the light of the morning did they gather the courage to bury him.

Parsha Parah

This is the first Chapter of Parsha Chukkas and will be commented upon there. The Egel is the sin and the Parah is the atonement.

Bamidbar 19:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying: 2 This is the statute of the law which the LORD hath commanded, saying: Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer, faultless, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke. 3 And ye shall give her unto Eleazar the priest, and she shall be brought forth without the camp, and she shall be slain before his face. 4 And Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle of her blood toward the front of the tent of meeting seven times. 5 And the heifer shall be burnt in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall be burnt. 6 And the priest shall take cedar-wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer. 7 Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he may come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the even. 8 And he that burneth her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the even. 9 And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place, and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water of sprinkling; it is a purification from sin. 10 And he that gathers the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even; and it shall be unto the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourns among them, for a statute forever. 11 He that touches the dead, even any man's dead body, shall be unclean seven days; 12 the same shall purify himself therewith on the third day and on the seventh day, and he shall be clean; but if he purify not himself the third day and the seventh day, he shall not be clean. 13 Whosoever touches the dead, even the body of any man that is dead, and purifies not himself--he hath defiled the tabernacle of the LORD--that soul shall be cut off from Israel; because the water of sprinkling was not dashed against him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him. 14 This is the law: when a man dies in a tent, every one that cometh into the tent, and every thing that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days. 15 And every open vessel, which hath no covering close-bound upon it, is unclean. 16 And whosoever in the open field toucheth one that is slain with a sword, or one that dieth of himself, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days. 17 And for the unclean they shall take of the ashes of the burning of the purification from sin, and running water shall be put thereto in a vessel. 18 And a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched the bone, or the slain, or the dead, or the grave. 19 And the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day; and on the seventh day he shall purify him; and he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even. 20 But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, because he hath defiled the sanctuary of the LORD; the water of sprinkling hath not been dashed against him: he is unclean. 21 And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them; and he that sprinkles the water of sprinkling shall wash his clothes; and he that touches the water of sprinkling shall be unclean until even. 22 And whatsoever the unclean person touches shall be unclean; and the soul that touches him shall be unclean until even.

Stories Galore

Every year on Purim, R’ Rafael Solomon Shlita invites between 30 to 50 people to his home and among other things, he tells personal stories. One of the guest was Dr. Danny DDS who needs a minor procedure in the States and we all in unison gave him a blessing for a Refuah Shelayma (complete healing) in a loud Amen.

Rabbi Kanievsky and Blessings as told by Danny the Dentist

One day, Dr. Danny DDS was being audited by the IRS. Nobody like a tax audit. Part of Danny’s business expenses since his wife and children are in Israel are his flights. The IRS wanted to check into that and his charity donations. His accountant prepared the material for the IRS just in case.

One of the charity collectors was Rabbi M., who was close to Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky Shlita. Rabbi M. went to Rabbi Chaim and he poo-pooed the whole idea. After about a year, the IRS notified Dr. Danny that they had secretly audited him and found him clean.

My Purim gift to Rabbi Mimran and vice versa.

Every year on Purim I drive over to Rabbi Mimran Shlita to give him a Purim gift. This year we sat down to learn Halachos Shabbos as Rabbi Kanievsky emphasized learning the laws of Shabbos because of the non-religious making war of Shabbos Kodesh in Yisrael. He also stressed learning ethics aka Mussar. From here comes some of the things we talked about in our learning and the younger Rav coming to us for a blessing.

Every once in a while my Chavruta, Rabbi and Dayan Shlomo Mimran, tells me a story from Beis Din. Sometimes for my common horse sense and knowledge of Israeli Civil Law and then he goes into the Halacha and goes towards a Psak. Sometimes it is a case of a caterer against a client or vice versa where you don’t know if one is confused, lying or both are lying because of money.

A few weeks ago in the Israeli Press there was a story of a Rabbi promising for large sums of money to revive a brain dead person or two time after time. Another story of an advisor to politician to a Rabbi who recorded what he said about Ganz and the conversation was released to help Netanyahu in the final days of the elections. I have often said: “There are ‘Rabbis’ and then there are RABBIS!” I want to tell you how I handle confidentiality and blessings.

A Rabbi has to keep confidentiality. As one of prophets said “I sit among my people”. I once had a woman ask for my advice on what to do as she had committed adultery with somebody and wondered if she should marry him. Unlike Dr. Phil and some forgiving husbands, I figured that something was wrong in the relationship and not worth repairing. For either the husband was not physically or intellectually stimulating the woman. For you see from Beresheis that perhaps the man is looking for his rib but the rib is looking to be whole. One does not have to have a PhD from Harvard or Yale to figure out the male adulterer likes “stolen waters are fresh” but not looking to commit to a relationship. Now how would it look if I recorded and released such a conversation! I also heard other stuff in a public place where I wanted to go through the floor due to the volume of the person speaking it and in the end the buck stopped here.

I am not really a giver of Berachos and don’t know how much power I have. There is perhaps a small amount for the things that I do for the sake of heaven. One of the fellows sitting down in the photo of the night Kollel is still there after over 15 years with a number of fellows declining. He came with a Purim gift for Rav Mimran. He was inebriated from Purim. Like most people who learn a lot of Torah full of Simcha and not a raging drunk. He only drank a lot to observe “until you don’t know the difference between blessed be Mordechai and cursed be Haman”. He asked me for a blessing. I told him I am not known as a miracle worker or a Rabbi who blesses and then wonders happen when I bless. He insisted so I blessed him and Rabbi Mimran too. He then danced around in a circle with another Kollel man. He came back for another blessing. I told him that I blessed him. When the make is high on alcohol I gave him another blessing and one for his wife and he left ‘Tov Lev’ (happy hearted) like the king after his drinking in the Megillah.

Rena Solomon and Hashgacha

Rena Solomon is working with learning disability children. One day recently, she was at the bus station and a woman begged her for money so she gave her the last two Shekels that she had. Another woman came up and Rena wanted to give but felt bad. Suddenly from the side rolled over a 5 NIS coin. Rena picked it up and gave it to the second poor lady.

The Rebbe and the Surgery that wasn’t

A certain man in FL was told in the 1980’s that he would have to undergo major surgery. Since he had an option to wait, he flew to Brooklyn NY to see the Rebbe. Now it was at a time that the Rebbe was quite on in years and not taking visitors. The man knew where the Rebbe lived and hid behind a tree. When the Rebbe started walking to Schul, before the secretaries could run interference for the Rebbe, the man made contact with the Rebbe and told him while walking his story. The Rebbe made a hand motion dismissing the whole thing. He then flew back to FL pre-surgery and the doctors did some tests. They took a long time comparing the first and second tests. The second test showed that there was no need whatsoever for surgery.

Patrick TZ and surgery

A number of years ago, Patrick lived in my area. One day the doctors discovered a growth in his head. They removed it and he went on with his life. A number of years later, another growth developed that was so life threatening that on Thursday the doctors said that they had to operate on Shabbos for he had next to no chance otherwise to make it to Sunday and even then it would be touch and go. Rabbi Barak Kochavi Shlita went to the Rebbe’s books and picked an answer. He got one of healing. R’ Solomon organized prayers and Psalms and the area Synagogues make special healing prayers. One of the ladies from the Schul Tirtsa D. and perhaps the group where my wife goes with Denise R. prayed Psalms for Patrick.

After the surgery Patrick told Rabbi Kochavi the following story. I died on the operating tape and my soul left my body. I went through a tunnel towards a light and ended up in the heavenly Beis Din. Rabbi Kochavi was there pleading for me and Rafi Solomon with his prayers but I was a peace and wanted to remain there. Then the Psalms of the ladies lead by Tirtsa came and pulled me back down. After a few weeks, Patrick made almost a complete recovery.

Rafael Solomon stuck in Orlando for Shabbos but ends up in Tampa

Rafi had just finished catering and cooking for a kosher cruise and B”H no Corona aboard the ship. Since it was almost Purim, Rafi went to the hotel that he is catering for Pesach to check up on the supplies, dishes, etc.

He then proceeded to call up Chabad of Jacksonville and another town and was told that there was no room for him as a guest for Shabbos. He then said to himself, I will go to the Kosher Section of the local Winn-Dixie Store and buy a Challah, Wine, etc. for Shabbos. As he was about to check-out, he remembered that he forgot to pick up something perhaps candles. He turned around and there was a man who looked Lubavitch. Shalom Aleichem was exchanged.

The man had come from Tampa and had driven his son to Orlando for something. He went to ‘kill time’ by buying sweets and treats for Shabbos in the store. He heard that Rafi was by himself and invited him for Shabbos. He insisted and Rafael was more than happy to be with him.

The Congregation was small about 15 people. At the Kiddush on Shabbos, Rafi was asked where he came from. He said, ”Chashmonayim Yisrael”. The man piped back, “Do you know a Yoel Hirsch? We stayed by his home for Shabbos and he managed to convince my brother to observe Shabbos.” The reply was even more astounding. “I plan to be by Yoel on Purim Night after the fast as he hosts the local Chabad and a few others for a meal.” “Please tell Yoel to contact my brother in Edmonton Canada as he is having a spiritual crises and I am sure that Yoel can help him.”

On Purim afternoon, Rafi reported that Yoel had been able to contact the man and would contact him again. What Hashgacha! A Jew from Israel, working in FL, meets a person from an hour and a half away to get invited to Shabbos in order to meet a brother of a man from a north central Canadian City to be helped by a Jew in Yisrael. There are no accidents or coincidents!
