Parshiyos Tazria-Metzora, Acherei Mos, Kedoshim with stories.

This week for the first time, I will try to catch up to Israel with four Parshiyos. I will not burden you readers with too much commentary for a good deal of things are spread out in Tractates of the Talmud. On these Parshiyos alone, one could give a three year Yeshiva Course in Talmud Negaim, Nazir, Nederim, Shevuos (oaths), Makkos, Sanhedrin and a section of Meseches Shabbos that I bring down now. All this without touching commentaries, Zohar and Midrashim.

For Tazria 9 Mitzvos written on 128 lines of Torah
Metzora 11 Mitzvos written on 159 lines of Torah
For Acharei Mos 28 Mitzvos written on 154 lines of Torah
Kedoshim 51 Mitzvos written on 109 lines of Torah
Total 99 Mitzvos written on 550 lines of Torah

Parsha Tazria

12:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying: If a woman be delivered, and bear a man-child, then she shall be unclean seven days; as in the days of the impurity of her sickness shall she be unclean. …13:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying: 2 When a man shall have in the skin of his flesh a rising, or a scab, or a bright spot, and it become in the skin of his flesh the plague of leprosy, then he shall be brought unto Aaron the priest, or unto one of his sons the priests. 3 And the priest shall look upon the plague in the skin of the flesh; and if the hair in the plague be turned white, and the appearance of the plague be deeper than the skin of his flesh, it is the plague of leprosy; and the priest shall look on him, and pronounce him unclean.

These are the different types of Tsoras. The Parshiyos describe the different types and how they are declared clean.

… 47 And when the plague of leprosy is in a garment, whether it be a woolen garment, or a linen garment; 48 or in the warp, or in the woof, whether they be of linen, or of wool; or in a skin, or in any thing made of skin. 49 If the plague be greenish or reddish in the garment, or in the skin, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in any thing of skin, it is the plague of leprosy, and shall be shown unto the priest.

On the skin, it sounds like Leprosy or Psoriasis but on the house or clothing it appears more to be like mold or rot.

50 And the priest shall look upon the plague, and shut up that which hath the plague seven days. … 52 And he shall burn the garment, or the warp, or the woof, whether it be of wool or of linen, or any thing of skin, wherein the plague is; for it is a malignant leprosy; it shall be burnt in the fire.

Of course we do not burn the man but a garment is burnt and the walls of the house dismantled and replaces.

14:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 2 This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: he shall be brought unto the priest. 3 And the priest shall go forth out of the camp; and the priest shall look, and, behold, if the plague of leprosy be healed in the leper; 4 then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two living clean birds, and cedar-wood, and scarlet, and hyssop. 5 And the priest shall command to slaughter one of the birds in an earthen vessel over running water. 6 As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar-wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water. 7 And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let go the living bird into the open field.

We do as we are commanded as one does not ask why one bird is slaughtered and the other freed and why over living water. We do not understand the process of Tuma and Tahara. With spiritual commands we do what we are told without question. Why is a dead body the Avi-Avos Ha Tuma and others like Metzora and Zav Av Ha Tuma – these are in the realm of mysticism and we only do the practical things to purify ourselves.

8 And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all his hair, and bathe himself in water, and he shall be clean; and after that he may come into the camp, but shall dwell outside his tent seven days. 9 And it shall be on the seventh day, that he shall shave all his hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows, even all his hair he shall shave off; and he shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and he shall be clean. 10 And on the eighth day he shall take two he-lambs without blemish, and one ewe-lamb of the first year without blemish, and three tenth parts of an ephah of fine flour for a meal-offering, mingled with oil, and one log of oil. 11 And the priest that cleanse him shall set the man that is to be cleansed, and those things, before the LORD, at the door of the tent of meeting. …15 And the priest shall take of the log of oil, and pour it into the palm of his own left hand. 16 And the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left hand, and shall sprinkle of the oil with his finger seven times before the LORD. 17 And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the guilt-offering. 18 And the rest of the oil that is in the priest's hand he shall put upon the head of him that is to be cleansed; and the priest shall make atonement for him before the LORD. 19 And the priest shall offer the sin-offering, and make atonement for him that is to be cleansed because of his uncleanness; and afterward he shall ritually slaughter the burnt-offering. 20 And the priest shall offer the burnt-offering and the meal-offering upon the altar; and the priest shall make atonement for him, and he shall be clean.

Perhaps a Kabbalist can explain my previous questions I am uncertain that they would even know about this and the spiritual world that surrounds our bodies.

21 And if he be poor, and his means suffice not, then he shall take one he-lamb for a guilt-offering to be waved, to make atonement for him, and one tenth part of an ephah of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal-offering, and a log of oil; 22 and two turtle-doves, or two young pigeons, such as his means suffice for; and the one shall be a sin-offering, and the other a burnt-offering. 23 And on the eighth day he shall bring them for his cleansing unto the priest, unto the door of the tent of meeting, before the LORD.

A poor person is given a lesser value sacrifice to bring before HASHEM.

33 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying: 34 When ye are come into the land of Canaan, which I give to you for a possession, and I put the plague of leprosy in a house of the land of your possession; 35 then he that owns the house shall come and tell the priest, saying: 'There seems to me to be as it were a plague in the house.' 36 And the priest shall command that they empty the house, before the priest go in to see the plague, that all that is in the house be not made unclean; and afterward the priest shall go in to see the house. 37 And he shall look on the plague, and, behold, if the plague be in the walls of the house with hollow streaks, greenish or reddish, and the appearance thereof be lower than the wall; 38 then the priest shall go out of the house to the door of the house, and shut up the house seven days. 39 And the priest shall come again the seventh day, and shall look; and, behold, if the plague be spread in the walls of the house; 40 then the priest shall command that they take out the stones in which the plague is, and cast them into an unclean place without the city. 41 And he shall cause the house to be scraped within round about, and they shall pour out the mortar that they scrape off without the city into an unclean place. 42 And they shall take other stones, and put them in the place of those stones; and he shall take other mortar, and shall plaster the house. 43 And if the plague come again, and break out in the house, after that the stones have been taken out, and after the house hath been scraped, and after it is plastered;

If this be some form of mold, it might get worse when the house is sealed or just plain stop. If it is spiritual and he repents, it should get better.

Parsha Metzora

15:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and to Aaron, saying: 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them: When any man hath an issue out of his flesh, his issue is unclean. 3 And this shall be his uncleanness in his issue: whether his flesh run with his issue, or his flesh be stopped from his issue, it is his uncleanness. 4 Every bed whereon he that hath the issue lies shall be unclean; and every thing whereon he sits shall be unclean. 5 And whosoever touches his bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. …16 And if the flow of seed go out from a man, then he shall bathe all his flesh in water, and be unclean until the even. 17 And every garment, and every skin, whereon is the flow of seed, shall be washed with water, and be unclean until the even. 18 The woman also with whom a man shall lie carnally, they shall both bathe themselves in water, and be unclean until the even. 19 And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be in her impurity seven days; and whosoever touches her shall be unclean until the even. … 23 And if he be on the bed, or on any thing whereon she sits, when he touches it, he shall be unclean until the even. 24 And if any man lie with her, and her impurity be upon him, he shall be unclean seven days; and every bed whereon he lies shall be unclean.

How did such a man sleep with his wife? It seems to me that he had one flux of seed or two and thought it was from being with his wife or the spring and therefore he dipped in the Mikvah and had relations with his wife. Upon the third involuntary flux, he became a Zav.

The Talmud wanted to keep away from immorality and lewdness so a Zav or Zava which is described immediately below should not be together. Meseches Shabbos 13B SIMILARLY … A ZAB MUST NOT DINE, [etc.]. It was taught, R. Simeon b. Eleazar said: Come and see how far purity has spread in Israel! For we did not learn, A clean man must not eat with an unclean woman, but A ZAB MUST NOT DINE TOGETHER WITH A ZABAH, AS IT MAY LEAD To SIN. Similarly, a zab, a parush  may not dine with a zab, who is an 'am ha-arez, lest he cause him to associate with him. But what does it matter if he does cause him to associate with him? Rather say [thus]: lest he offer him unclean food to eat. Does then a zab who is a parush not eat unclean food? — Said Abaye: For fear lest he provide him with unfit food.  Raba said: The majority of the 'amme ha-arez do render tithes, but [we fear] lest he associate with him and he provide him with unclean food in the days of his purity.
The scholars propounded: May a niddah sleep together with her husband, she in her garment and he in his? — Said R. Joseph, Come and hear: A fowl may be served together with cheese at the [same] table, but not eaten [with it]: this is Beth Shammai's view. Beth Hillel rule: It may neither be served nor eaten [together]! — There it is different, because there are no [separate] minds. It is reasonable too that where there are [separate] minds it is different, because the second clause teaches, R. Simeon b. Gamaliel said: Two boarders eating at the same table, one may eat meat and the other cheese, and we have no fear. But was it not stated thereon, R. Hanin b. Ammi said in Samuel's name: This was taught only when they do not know each other; but if they do, they are forbidden? And here too they know each other!-How compare! There we have [separate] minds but no unusual feature; but here there are [separate] minds and an unusual feature.
Others state, Come and hear: R. Simeon b. Gamaliel said: Two boarders may eat at the same table, one meat and the other cheese. And it was stated thereon, R. Hanin b. Ammi said in Samuel's name: This was taught only if they do not know each other, but if they do, it is forbidden; and these two know each other! — [No.] There we have [separate] minds but nothing unusual, whereas here there are [separate] minds and an unusual feature.

The reason I brought the full section down is that it explains about eating on the same table two different people meat and cheese or even a man with his wife who is a Niddah.

25 And if a woman have an issue of her blood many days not in the time of her impurity, or if she have an issue beyond the time of her impurity; all the days of the issue of her uncleanness she shall be as in the days of her impurity: she is unclean.

She is worse that an ordinary Niddah who would immerse according to the Torah on the 7th day but here she would have to count 7 clean days. Nowadays, we do not count Niddah from the first drop of blood a child saw upon reaching puberty so all women are treated as having a flood out of the time.

The Talmud Shabbos 31B states: MISHNAH. FOR THREE SINS WOMEN DIE IN CHILDBIRTH: BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT OBSERVANT OF [THE LAWS OF] NIDDAHHALLAH,  AND THE KINDLING OF THE [SABBATH] LIGHTS.
GEMARA. What is the reason of niddah? — Said R. Isaac: She transgressed through the chambers of her womb, therefore she is punished through the chambers of her womb. That is right of niddah, but what can be said of hallah and the kindling of lights? — As a certain Galilean lectured before R. Hisda: The Holy One, blessed be He, said: I put a rebi'ith of blood in you;  therefore I commanded you concerning blood. … if you want to know why the woman is in grave danger for non-observance the Rabbis on Shabbos 32A explain: Our Rabbis taught: if one falls sick and his life is in danger,  he is told, Make confession, for all who are sentenced to death make confession. During childbirth a woman is in this type of danger.

26 Every bed whereon she lies all the days of her issue shall be unto her as the bed of her impurity; and everything whereon she sits shall be unclean, as the uncleanness of her impurity. 27 And whosoever touches those things shall be unclean, … 31 Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness; that they die not in their uncleanness, when they defile My tabernacle that is in the midst of them. 32 This is the law of him that hath an issue, and of him from whom the flow of seed goes out, so that he is unclean thereby; 33 and of her that is sick with her impurity, and of them that have an issue, whether it be a man, or a woman; and of him that lies with her that is unclean.

Parsha Acherei Mos

16:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they drew near before the LORD, and died; 2 and the LORD said unto Moses: 'Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the veil, before the ark-cover which is upon the ark; that he die not; for I appear in the cloud upon the ark-cover.

Essentially, only the Cohain Gadol shall enter the Kodesh Kedashim (Holy of Holies) and only on Yom Kippur dressed appropriately in fast and special garments with bells. At this point the Yom Kippur atonement serve is spelled out in detail.

…33 And he shall make atonement for the most holy place, and he shall make atonement for the tent of meeting and for the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly. 34 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make atonement for the children of Israel because of all their sins once in the year.' And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.

Aaron preforms the commandments down to the last detail and with Kavannah.

…18:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them: I am the LORD your God. 3 After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do; and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do; neither shall ye walk in their statutes. 4 Mine ordinances shall ye do, and My statutes shall ye keep, to walk therein: I am the LORD your God. 5 Ye shall therefore keep My statutes, and Mine ordinances, which if a man do, he shall live by them: I am the LORD.

All the laws, statutes and ordinances are made for mankind to live by them. These are given only to the Bnei Yisrael to first observe among themselves and set an example and standard for all mankind. However, if we do not observe it is a failure on our part and a Chillul HASHEM. So let us make a Kiddush HASHEM.

6 None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness. I am the LORD.

The nations of the world were never concerned about this. After all Lavan married off two some say four daughters two official and two from his servants to Yacov. Ptolemy and Cleopatra were brother and sister to keep the kingdom and wealth in the family. As for us: From 19:2 below - Ye shall be holy; for I the LORD your God am holy.

7 The nakedness of thy father, and the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

A non-Jewish girl separated from her father at a young age ended up siring a child by him. A week ago, the 20 year old who sired the child by her father was murdered along with her step-father whom she asked for help in a murder rampage in which she, the child and the stepfather died before the wicked one took his own life.

8 The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness.

The first one, might be logical but the second one is a strange woman therefore we are warned. The Mishnah discusses a lewd woman who has relations (perhaps with everybody) including father and son.

9 The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or the daughter of thy mother, whether born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.

This is the Lashon HaRa that people said about the Karites that they did not consider a full sister if she was not from both mother and father. Since we have a special Pasuk it appears to be a false rumor to degree them into all being Maumzerim so that we could not intermarry with them. Rabbi Ovadia Yosef permitted intermarriage but the Karites do not.

10 The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover; for theirs is thine own nakedness.

There is no end to the possibility of sin and every once in a while things happen among the non-Jews.

11 The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

Perhaps this is where the Lashon HaRa on the Karites came from but it is false and I checked this thoroughly. They even don’t marry first cousins which we do.

12 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's sister: she is thy father's near kinswoman.  13 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother's sister; for she is thy mother's near kinswoman.

Marriage with either aunt would lead to loose and perhaps immoral behavior in the family.

14 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt.

Even if your uncle passed away or divorced, she has become forbidden.

15 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter-in-law: she is thy son' wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

There was an exception for Yebum in the past, but the Rabbis have outlawed this today.

16 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother's wife: it is thy brother's nakedness.

The laws of Yebum do over-rule this but the Rabbis prefer Halitzah today. However, if the woman after 90 days pass move into the house of the brother-in-law it is a legal Levirate Marriage and she has the Ketubah of her late husband now guaranteed by the brother.

17 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter; thou shalt not take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness: they are near kinswomen; it is lewdness.

The punishment is only stated in 20:14.

18 And thou shalt not take a woman to her sister, to be a rival to her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her lifetime.

A sister cannot become a rival wife. However, if the other sister passes, she can marry her brother-in-law and this was often done to raise his children.

19 And thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is impure by her uncleanness.

The punishment is Kares by heaven or if one forgot the law or did not know that she was impure he brings a Korban.

20 And thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbor's wife, to defile thyself with her.21 And thou shalt not give any of thy seed to set them apart to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD. 22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind; it is abomination.

It is an abominable act but the punishment will only be stated in 20:13.

23 And thou shalt not lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith; neither shall any woman stand before a beast, to lie down thereto; it is perversion.
http://www.wwl.com/articles/louisiana-law-ban-sex-animals-wins-senate-vote-25-10 I have warned and continue to warn that this is the agenda of the antireligious groups. They started out with female Rabbis, intermarriage, homosexuality. Why the ten votes on what should be beyond a doubt abuse of animals. Obviously there is a group that wants to dumb the population with internet games, over lewd acts etc. into accepting domination by the elite thinkers. Wake up and fear the L-RD!

… 26 Ye therefore shall keep My statutes and Mine ordinances, and shall not do any of these abominations; neither the home-born, nor the stranger that sojourns among you-- 27 for all these abominations have the men of the land done, that were before you, and the land is defiled.

It is one of the conditions that the Bnei Yisrael can live in the land. The Canaanites lost their land because it vomited them out do to among other things the above abominations. We are bound by this.

28 that the land vomit not you out also, when ye defile it, as it vomited out the nation that was before you. 29 For whosoever shall do any of these abominations, even the souls that do them shall be cut off from among their people.

Not only will the land vomit you out, but your soul will be cut off from the people in the next world which is best on Emmet, Tzedek, as well as Rachamim. This world may lack truth, justice and compassion but the next world does not.

30 Therefore shall ye keep My charge, that ye do not any of these abominable customs, which were done before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God.

Parsha Kedoshim

19:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 2 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them: Ye shall be holy; for I the LORD your God am holy. 3 Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and ye shall keep My Sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.

Just as I rest on Shabbos, so too must the Bnei Yisrael rest.

4 Turn ye not unto the idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.

In Tractate Sanhedrin there is a story of Rabbi Shimon HaTzaddik and how he destroyed the Yetzer for Avoda Zara. King Menashe told Rebbe Meir Baal HaNes in a dream that if he was alive in the days of Melech Menashe, that he would run to hold on the king’s garment to worship idols. “You are a big one to talk now that there is no Yetzer.”

…9 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corner of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleaning of thy harvest. 10 And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather the fallen fruit of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and for the stranger: I am the LORD your God.

Because Boaz did this, he merited to sire the Moshiach. Do not think that the Mitzvah of Charity and helping the poor is beneath your dignity.

11 Ye shall not steal; neither shall ye deal falsely, nor lie one to another. 12 And ye shall not swear by My name falsely, so that thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.

Stealing and swearing falsely are related. For through both a person can take another’s property, money or accuse another in a matter of life and death.

13 Thou shalt not oppress thy neighbor, nor rob him; the wages of a hired servant shall not abide with thee all night until the morning.

Steal vs rob: One steals through stealth by sneaking in, hacking, rustling sheep or cattle. One robs face to face with the victim.

14 Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling-block before the blind, but thou shalt fear thy God: I am the LORD.

These acts are particularly despicable. I was a young boy and we had three classes in my school at my grade. The cream of the crop was in the first one and some of us border-line cream of the crop were in the second but most of my class was above average IQ – Brooklyn Tech HS., Bronx HS. of Science and Stuyvesant HS. Is where many of us went. Then there was a class of below average or just average children. One was even quite retarded. Everybody made fun of him. One day as a joke I decided to talk friendly to the kid. Would you believe it, the poor thing had not a friend in the world. Something in my Neshama, even at the age of ten, told me that it would be nice just to talk to the poor child. It made his day and I had a much better feeling inside. In fact 60 years later, I still have a warm feeling inside for what I did for him. Being non-religious we danced. I ended up dancing with a black girl who had coke bottle glasses. I even took a few comments from kids. (The was no such a thing as Political Correctness and the N word flowed freely back then) I told them – “How could I hurt her feelings! I guess she could not see that see more than she was tall and I was tall and she did not want a short partner.” [The girls used to pick their partners as the boys wanted to dance then like I want to do pull-ups one handedly with my weight and age today.]

15 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment; thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor favor the person of the mighty; but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbor.

The pit of hell is open for judges and I have found many a mistake in modern judges. I become scared and tremble if I had to be a judge.

…18 Thou shalt not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD.

This is the Middle-East vengeance then like today among the Arabs was and still is a way of life. For a Ben Yisrael not to take vengeance would be raising the level of world.

..20 And whosoever lies carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, designated for a man, and not at all redeemed, nor was freedom given her; there shall be inquisition; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free.

A non-Jewish Slave girl who could only become Jewish after given her freedom. She was given a man or be designated to another slave to procreate more slaves. If she was raped or seduced by a freeman, neither would die. However, the Beit Din could give him 40 lashes. This was not to be looked on lightly!

21 And he shall bring his forfeit unto the LORD, unto the door of the tent of meeting, even a ram for a guilt-offering. 22 And the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt-offering before the LORD for his sin which he has sinned; and he shall be forgiven for his sin which he has sinned.

He shall be forgiven after the Chatas offering. She is completely not guilty.

…28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor imprint any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

No cutting one’s head like the Shiites do or making tattoos. However, if some Goyim put an A on your hand and a few numbers afterwards because you are Jewish you need not feel bad at all.

29Profane not thy daughter, to make her a harlot, lest the land fall into harlotry, and the land become full of lewdness.

When I see people trying to train their children to be models, dancers, actors etc. I think of this. It is an unfortunate fact. I have a very pretty cousin who wanted to become an actress. She gave up working for others, married into a family that had an oil field and now owns her own theater. She does put on plays but is not famous.

30 Ye shall keep My Sabbaths, and reverence My sanctuary: I am the LORD.

One of the main principles is Shabbos.

35 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure. 36 Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt. 37 And ye shall observe all My statutes, and all Mine ordinances, and do them: I am the LORD.

Just like fairness in the court of law, fairness and standards in measurements are important. The Temple had a standard cubit aka Amah built in at one gate like in France they copied us and have a meter measure close by a famous Cathedral.

20:9 For whatsoever man there be that curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death; he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.

For him to rebel against his physical creators is to rebel against THE CREATOR.

10 And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

This is the first step in the breakdown of holiness, start of lewdness and segregation of society.

…13 And if a man lie with mankind, as with womankind, both of them have committed abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

In 18:22 we were already told that it was an abomination but now we have the death penalty and they have brought their own blood upon themselves not the witnesses nor the judges. This abdominal and perverse behavior is the beginning of breakdown of society. Look at Europe. Between birth control and this, the population is decreasing and the immigrant population is going to replace them.

14 And if a man take with his wife also her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among you.

Also this was brought down in 18:17. This time the very unusual punishment of burning is stated as it is worse than stoning. For the homosexual or one who likes with a beast is stoned but the Yetzer of lewdness here becomes to great and it must be burnt out.

15 And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death; and ye shall slay the beast. 16 And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down thereto, thou shalt kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. … 22 Ye shall therefore keep all My statutes, and all Mine ordinances, and do them, that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein, vomit you not out. 23 And ye shall not walk in the customs of the nation, which I am casting out before you; for they did all these things, and therefore I abhorred them. … 26 And ye shall be holy unto Me; for I the LORD am holy, and have set you apart from the peoples, that ye should be Mine.

Keeping holy must be drilled into a person for it is so easy for frail humans to give into the Yetzer. It is much harder to be holy and avoid sin and stay pure.

27 A man also or a woman that divines by a ghost or a familiar spirit, shall surely be put to death; they shall stone them with stones; their blood shall be upon them.

Nowadays, the Yetzer for this is weak, but then it was strong and let to power and other women looking up to the diviner.

On National Holocaust day, I thought it appropriate to tell the story of my Grandmother (Oma) is Grandma in German and we all call her Oma.
After Kristallnacht (the night of broken glass- November 9th 1938) , when Nazi Germans broke all the windows in Hamburg where she lived, her mum, my great grandmother decided that the only option to save her 2 daughters, was to send them both on a boat from Germany to save their lives. Can you imagine? My Grandmother ,Oma, was only 11 and her sister Ursula was 12.
Two little girls on their own , not having a clue where they were going , being ripped from their mummy and daddy and sitting on a boat. Not knowing where they were going .....and with nobody to look after them. !!!! The photo below captures my Grandmother and her sister on the boat. They are the 2 little girls sitting in the centre oval pic on the right. My Grandmother is called Yutta nee Solomon and I'm sitting here in tears looking at that photo . How horrific.. They ended up in Glasgow Scotland..and that is part of my incredible lineage. So for those who deny the holocaust.... All I have to say is look at this newspaper . article. I can't believe that she was captured in any photograph. She is still alive today and I'm so proud and sad . You can magnify the photo. !!!! The top of the newspaper article in dark blue mentions both Yutta and Ursula Solomon.

My former colleague from work Zal, Zev told me of the horrors of that night he was 9 at the time. His family got the message and he worked as a store keeper in industry earning an honest salary for his parents got out and to Israel in time.

I wrote about my father fleeing the Nazis by bribing the Gestapo in Munich.
Here is the complementary part of the story about the rest of my family reaching the USA

The blog is entitled: Once there were great immigrants to America.

The gifted Dr. Myron Robert Pauli (who is related to Wolfgang Pauli, a pioneer in quantum mechanics) is a wonderful dad to daughter Anna. Here Myron shares with us the remarkable story of the patriarch Pauli, who came to America the old-fashioned—when no “welfare-bums” were allowed—and sired Myron.

How The Paulis Came to America By Myron Pauli

At the request of my good friend Ilana Mercer and in honor of Father’s Day, I am writing about how/why relatives named Pauli got to America. My paternal ancestors were Pascheles – but Vienna under Karl Lueger had its own “affirmative action” policy with the goal of 100% non-Jews in the faculty of the University of Vienna. Thus my granduncle Wolf Pascheles became Wolfgang Joseph Pauli. He later had two famous children – Wolfgang Ernst and Hertha Ernestine – both baptized at Mach 1 (Ernst Mach was their godfather!). Grandfather Isadore Pascheles became John Pauli but brother Oscar kept Pascheles and had the good luck to be a Swiss citizen…..
In 1938, Hitler’s Anschluss with Austria meant beatings and sleep deprivation for WWI Captain John Pauli – to relinquish his money to the National Socialists. Grandmother Frederica (related to Jewish Austrian admiral Siegfried Popper!) and John were allowed to leave provided they had a destination. Thankfully, the Chinese consul, Feng-Shan-Ho, defying his own government, issued exit visas to Singapore to thousands of Viennese Jews. However, Prague-born, they faced a small Czech quota and apparently received some help from Ambassador Joseph P. Kennedy – to get to America.
My father was in Innsbruck and snuck over the border into Switzerland with a companion who was immediately turned over to the Gestapo by the (very nice!) Swiss but since my father had the excuse of visiting his uncle Oscar in Zurich; they let him in temporarily provided he leave within a month or two. There are actually 3 letters written by his cousin Wolfgang (inventor of the neutrino) to Paul Dirac (inventor of antimatter) to try to get my dad to England because he had a job offer in America provided he made it to England. I don’t know if Dirac helped, but he eventually made it over here! A cousin in Texas, James Utitz, had to certify that my dad would not be a welfare-bum! My father showed up speaking with an English accent and became a stickler for proper English even in Noo-Yawk! Not only did he go ballistic at ads for the “Green Witch Savings Bank” (Greenwich!) – but he complained about Puerto Ricans speaking poor Spanish. Fortunately, he never lived to hear Ebonics!
Cousin Hertha, an actress and historian-author, with the honor of having her books banned by Nazi Germany – went to France and got smuggled out of France through Lisbon (helped by Varian Fry and the “Emergency Rescue Committee”) to the US with her husband and friends Alma Schindler Mahler Gropius Werfel and Franz Werfel. Both Hertha and Franz stopped at the Lady of Lourdes and each wrote a book and a movie (Franz’s – more famous) about the Song of Bernadette.
Wolfgang tried to get Swiss citizenship but the Swiss decided that he “did not satisfy the requirement of assimilation” – so he and wife Franca – with the help of French colleagues – got over to Lisbon and then to Princeton to his old pal Albert Einstein and the Institute of Advanced Studies which labeled Wolfgang as his “spiritual heir.” After 1946, Wolfgang returned to work in Switzerland because he objected to excessive military influence on American physics (which, if nothing else, proves both intelligence and integrity).
Granduncle Oscar held the fort in Switzerland and tried to get family out as best he could. Poignant letters from a distant cousin from the Nazi Kielce ghetto to Oscar prior to her extermination exist (Switzerland was neutral with postal relations with Germany). Oscar’s grandson is Vice President of Global Commercial Intelligence for Merck.
My dad settled in Sunnyside, Queens and wound up with a wife and 2 kids. He loved the country and we had a small country house. We rented out our upstairs to what appeared to be 10% of Puerto Rico (whom, thanks to rent control, we could not evict!) and eventually rented the rest and bought a third house for us. Dad preferred Adlai Stevenson’s erudite English over Eisenhower’s garbled Army-speak, but after rent control, opposing LBJ’s War in Vietnam and inflation, he voted for Nixon! I don’t know what he would think of events nowadays but his work ethic and English perfectionism would not fit in with modern immigration policy!

Wolfgang Sr. hid his Jewishness and uncle Oscar used to send money to him when he was is Switzerland as a close relative. One day Wolfgang Ernst followed the man who brought the money back to his uncle. He found out that he had Jewish roots from his mother’s father and 100% from his father. Only the wrong 25% was not Jewish so he was never considered a Jew. He married Franka an ex-nun. She used to sleep in the same room with his ashes until her passing at the age of 98.

My brother Myron, did not tell of my mother’s side who were most likely Fabian Socialists and Reform Jews. They escaped Europe slightly after the failed revolutions of 1848 and one of my great grandmothers was born in the USA in 1853. As my family became more settled they were mostly democrats and liberals but eventually the Americanism in them took over. My mother’s brother David Levy served in the Signal Corp. in WWII and he reunited with his first cousin Mimi in Paris on her tour with the U.S.O. She passed away last week a few weeks short of her 96th birthday. Her husband Bert Lesser was the first to produce aluminum chairs and became wealthy. She stayed a wealthy liberal while my family saw the taxation of the lower middle class and the political give away to the poor. We became conservatives in the 1965 mayor of New York Elections when there had be riots that targeted Jewish own Stores and the liberal Republican Mayor did nothing to protect them but placated the rioters.

Mimi’s story is at memory.loc.gov/diglib/vhp-stories/loc.natlib.afc2001001.11904/narrative?ID=pn0001 Just copy and paste here is an excerpt: The veterans were disbelieving that an artist would want to draw them. So it took great daring for a G.I., with half his face disfigured, to approach me with bravado and ask what I was going to do about him.
Posing him with his good side facing me I was able to sketch what his face would look like after rehabilitation was complete. Talk about success--this opened up a stream of eager brave, sad men. This was probably the best work I ever did. Now they could have pictures sent to their loved ones that were positive. They could let relatives see that they would eventually be whole again.
1948 Americans that made a difference. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.aspx/22006 Missing from here is Meir Lansky, with the mob and the Italian Stevedores from Lucky Luciano. I also met Landsman of Mahal who flew a plane with E. Weitzman.

Reminder during the summer months we read Perkei Avos in the Siddur
After Mincha on Shabbos. It is possible before if you go for learning.
This week is chapter 2.

One thing mentioned in Perkei Avos is “from all my teachers, I learned”. One unlikely teacher of mine although indirect was a black fighter back in the 1950’s. Sugar Ray Robinson would train near our country bungalow in Greenwood Lake, NY. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar_Ray_Robinson Each morning I would see him running in a jog either a few miles back and forth one way or another from his headquarters in Coconut Grove Club. He would jump rope a lot and shadow box in the air just to keep up his dexterity. What I learned is no matter how hard you go and practice and don’t give up. Persistence leads to results!
