Please add for this week only Zahava

Miracle from 2009 or 5769: S.M. was on my prayer list. She had Stage 4
Cancer with 2% chance of survival at Sloan Kettering. We prayed, she survived
and yesterday she called me on What’s App some 16 years later.
Never underestimate
the power of prayer. Rav Adam L. was the son of a neighbor. One night, the doctors
at Tel HaShomer did not give him a chance to survive to the morning. There was
a massive prayer rally for him at the Kotel in Yerushalayim and he survived two
more years and his five daughters had more time with their father.
Rebbetzin Chedva
Silberfarb entered Tel HaShomer with developed Lung Cancer. It was estimated
that she had three days to live. There were prayers for her in Yerushalayim
that night and she checked her sins. She was guilty of Lashon HaRa. She took
upon herself to rally women not to gossip. From her international efforts came
the book “Chedva’s Bridge”. She lived three more years with her sons and
daughter and parents enjoying her presence.
THEREFORE NEVER EVER
UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF PRAYER.
Parsha Lech Lecha Part 1
As with Beresheis-Noach,
Parsha Lech Lecha has us introduced to our Protagonist the week before. Avrum
and Sarai are mentioned towards the end of the Parsha. The world has changed
since Avrum’s birth. The earth spoke one language and now speaks 70 of the 70
nations of the world.
At this time, people did
not show signs of aging like today as we shall see with Sarai.
Last week’s Parsha ends
as follows: 11:31 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his
son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife; and they went
forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and
they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. This was done
after Avram was thrown into the gigantic oven for opposing the idols but
survived.
It appears to me that after they settled in Haran,
Avraham and Lot started an export – trading business with Canaan in order to
eventually move there. Haran is located in the southern and quite east in Turkey
that it is above (north of ) Syria and north east of Baghdad.
To trade with Canaan, he
most likely would have dealt with goods from Europe and east Asia that came
through the Dardanelles or Baghdad. He probably did this prior to leaving
permanently for Canaan.
12:1 Now the LORD said unto Abram: 'Get thee out of thy country,
and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto the land that I will
show thee. 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and
make thy name great; and be thou a blessing.
Now Avram is told to leave
his country and go to Canaan what he is most likely familiar with from trading.
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and him that curse thee
will I curse; and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed.'
Do as I say and you will
be blessed.
4 So Abram went, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with
him; and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
This is in the creation
year 2023. Terah is 150 years old and will live another 55 years but does not
go to Canaan but with Nahor runs the Haran Trading Post.
5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all
their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in
Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of
Canaan they came.
It was a nice trip from
Haran to Israel. It is 958 km on modern roads from Haran to Schem on modern
roads assuming no borders in his day.
6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Shechem, unto
the terebinth of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.
The Modern Alon Moreh is
near Schem on a mountain overlooking the route between north and south and east
and west seemingly the heart of Eretz Yisrael. In the North Har Hermon and Tsfat,
towards the East the Jordan River Valley and the Dead Sea in the East South
East, towards the south the hills of Yerushalayim and directly west Har Gerizim,
Har Eval and the Mediterranean Sea. Is it Avram resting spot, I have no idea.
7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said: 'Unto thy seed will I
give this land'; and he built there an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto
him. 8 And he removed from thence unto the mountain on the east of Beth-el, and
pitched his tent, having Beth-el on the west, and Ai on the east; and he built
there an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD. 9 And Abram
journeyed, going on still toward the South.
This is close to a route
southwards from Schem/Alon Moreh towards Beth-el, Yerushalayim and Beer Sheva.
10 And there was a famine in the land; and Abram went down into
Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was sore in the land. 11 And it came to
pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his
wife: 'Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon.
Eretz Yisrael needs
constant prayers for rain as droughts and famines come a lot. This year, a
small amount of desalinated sea water is being pumped towards the Kinneret that
has reached the ‘black line’ of irreversible drought damage. When Sarai left Ur
for Haran at a much younger age, Avram had no fear of this. Sarai was already
65 years old when the couple left Haran and she had not aged.
12 And it will come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee,
that they will say: This is his wife; and they will kill me, but thee they will
keep alive.
Sarai at 65+ looked like
a 20 year old woman.
13 Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister; that it may be well with
me for thy sake, and that my soul may live because of thee.'
Say you are my sister
(it is possible that the concept of cousin did not exist – for I have found
this among Jews from India speaking like this.)
4 And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the
Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair. 15 And the princes of
Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into
Pharaoh's house. 16 And he dealt well with Abram for her sake; and he had
sheep, and oxen, and he-asses, and men-servants, and maid-servants, and
she-asses, and camels.
He tried to hide Sarai
but customs and immigration saw her and praised her.
17 And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues
because of Sarai Abram's wife. 18 And Pharaoh called Abram, and said: 'What is
this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy
wife? 19 Why did you say: She is my sister? so that I took her to be my wife;
now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.'
Egypt (Mitzrayim) was
famed for idol worship. Avram does not answer “Because there is no fear of G-D
here because there was fear of gods there but not for Pharaoh an incarnation of
a god to take wives. It is similar to Mohammed telling his son to divorce his
wife so Mohammed could marry her. Koran: Tafsir Surah Al-Ahzab-37.
20 And Pharaoh gave men charge concerning him; and they brought him
on the way, and his wife, and all that he had.
He left with his prior
goods and the dowry that Pharaoh had given him for Sarai and he was very
wealthy.
13:1
And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot
with him, into the South. 2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and
in gold. 3 And he went on his journeys from the South even to Beth-el, unto the
place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Beth-el and Ai; 4 unto
the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first; and Abram called
there on the name of the LORD.
Avraham returned to the
place where he had built a Mizbayach and offered upon it animals for HASHEM.
5 And Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and
tents. 6 And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell
together; for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.
The Pshat and the Drash:
The Pshat (simple meaning) is that physically there was so much sheep, goats,
cattle, donkeys and camels that the grazing area was insufficient. The Drash
(esoteric explanation) is that when in came to an area of private property, the
animals belonging to Avram were muzzled or circumvented it. Lot’s men, said
“Avram is going to inherit the land. Lot is his only heir and therefore, the
land is ours.” Their excuse for stealing or not paying damages in the here and
now (prior to Avrum owning the land) was very poor. In fact, it seems more like
a Sodom like trait as we shall see onwards.
7 And there was a strife between the herdsmen of Abram's cattle and
the herdsmen of Lot's cattle. And the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelt then in
the land.
Halachic and physical
dispute. If it is the law “not to steal” from the commands of Noach, then they
have to follow it. What will be in the future Ce Sera-Sera.
8 And Abram said unto Lot: 'Let there be no strife, I pray thee,
between me and thee, and between my herd men and thy herdsmen; for we are
brethren.
The land was large so
Avram was willing to divide it between himself and Lot.
9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee,
from me; if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if
thou take the right hand, then I will go to the left.'
Take the land that you
want for your herds and the other part, I shall have.
10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of the
Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere, before the LORD destroyed Sodom
and Gomorrah, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou got
unto Zoar.
Sodom and that area was
green with water pouring down from the Jordanian Mountains.
11 So Lot chose him all the plain of the Jordan; and Lot journeyed
east; and they separated themselves the one from the other.
The current land of
Yarden and Syria is part of the original promise to Avram including Levanon but
that is somewhere in the future. At this point in time, Lot has taken the
current Jordanian side and Esav will take the red mountains and Aqaba.
12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities
of the Plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.
Lot wanted for his flocks
and herd the land of the plain but was attracted by the Casino type of living
in Sodom.
13 Now the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners against the LORD
exceedingly.
Lot seemed to be attracted by them. Once he separated
from the Torah and Halacha of Avram these folks would have an affect on him and
unfortunately in a negative spiritual way.
I have stopped here this week. My wife had some medical
issues these past few weeks that hopefully there is a solution for them next
week but it cut into my writing time so next week, hopefully, I will continue
onwards.
From Yoni: I just finished reading Hostage by Eli Sharabi, and I need to tell you
this book shook me to my core. I invite you to read this book. Let it break
your heart a little. Let it open your soul a lot.
Eli was a regular guy. A husband, a
dad, living peacefully in Kibbutz Beeri, until October 7, 2023. That morning,
terrorists broke into his home. They murdered his wife, Lianne, and his two
beautiful daughters, Noya (16) and Yael (13). And they took him, barefoot,
blindfolded, and bleeding, into Gaza.
He spent 491 days as a hostage. 491
days of hunger. 491 days of beatings, humiliation, and darkness. 491 days
clinging to one simple truth: I will survive.
He wrote this book right after being
released, no filter, no polish, no “safe distance” from the pain. It’s raw,
real, and human in a way that almost feels sacred.
Eli writes about the worms, the
sewage, the endless fear. But he also writes about Kiddush on Friday nights in
a Gaza tunnel, just water in a cup, whispered blessings, and a spark of light
in the deepest darkness. He writes about choosing to find one good thing every
day, even when there was no good thing to find.
This isn’t just a story of survival.
It’s a story about the human soul,
about what it means to keep believing, even when belief feels impossible.
He says: “There is no more regular
Eli. From now on, I am Eli the survivor.” That line hit me.
Today, it’s our sacred duty to bear
witness to what happened, to the unimaginable cruelty, to the lives shattered,
to the truth so many choose to ignore.
As the world grows numb to suffering,
as too many turn away or twist the story to erase the pain of innocent Israelis
who were murdered, tortured, and taken, we cannot stay silent.
Eli Sharabi is our witness. His story
is not just his own; it’s the voice of every soul who endured the unthinkable.
We owe it to him, and to them, to listen, to remember, and to let it pierce our
hearts.
Because when the world forgets, memory
becomes an act of courage
Hostage is not an easy read. But it’s
an essential one. It’s a witness to the horrors of October 7. It’s a prayer for
the bodies of those waiting for burial. And it’s a love letter to life itself.
If you read one book this year, let it be this one.
Because when you close the last page,
you won’t just understand Eli’s story, you’ll understand something about your
own strength, your own faith, your own light.
With a trembling heart and deep love,
Rabbi Yisroel Bernath * The book is on my wife’s purchasing list.

PROTESTING AGAINST THE ZIONIST,
RELIGIOUS AND HUNTING ISRAEL
SÉFARADE. Par Rony Akrich
We summon today the Rav Yosef Zini,
over eighty years old, for talks made five years ago. An elderly rabbi, father
of General David Zini, recently appointed head of the Shin Bet, becomes the
target of a device that has found no better cause than to humiliate the
ancestors and trace the memory. This is not an investigation: it's a staging.
This is not justice: it is hunting. A hunt for the separatist, religious and
Zionist Jew, the one who embodies loyalty to Israel without asking permission.
This disdain is not from yesterday.
Since the 1950s, Jews from Morocco, Yemen, Iraq or Tunisia have experienced the
humiliation of mabarot, (my wife from Romania experienced this
took along with her aunts uncles and at least one set of grandparents) these transit camps that were collective trials of exile and forced
assimilation. We wanted to erase their accents, silence their practices, erase
their rabbis. The case of missing Yemeni children remains an open scar in our
national memory: families deprived of their children, pain held in the shadows
in the name of imported "modernity".
Today the process changes, but the
intention remains. We exhale old phrases to inflict shame, we politicize
morality, we instrumentalize the press and the procedure to delegitimate.
General David Zini's appointment to the Shin Bet summit, a pride for those who
believe in sovereignty and national continuity, is becoming a pretext for
sternness for others. We dirty the father to reach the son; we seek to erase
everything that reminds that the eastern half of the people of Israel has its
place in the heart of the state.
What they abhor, often without
admitting it, is religious Zionism—that breath, sometimes messianic, sometimes
simple devotion to the biblical story, that nourished the will to return and
rebuild. This Zionism, shared to varying degrees by laymen and early believers,
carries the idea that Israel is not reduced to an administration: it is a
living memory. And in the face of those who seek to reduce the state to an
incarnated bureaucracy or an import morality, the separatist voice appears as
an intolerable cultural and spiritual resistance to neutralize.
The accomplices must also be named.
There is an objective coalition today: a judicial media apparatus that is
believed to be the guardian of the Moral Revolution, and ideological
networks—sometimes referred to as Islamo-Leftists, who find it interest in
instrumentalizing every scandal to delegalize Israel and its defenders.
Together, they make morality a tool of exclusion. This is not justice, this is
social training.
We refuse to go back to old methods.
No to holding back on our ancestors. No to criminalizing our rabbis. No to
erasing a memory that nurtured the resiliency of the Jewish people. Israel was
not founded to reproduce, on its own land, the humiliation of Europe: it was
founded to gather, protect, and raise all of its sons and daughters—both of the
East and of the West.
And let it be heard, finally, this:
the victim is not condemned to remain a victim. She can rise again. She can
refuse humiliation, retrace her history, regain the reigns of her collective
destiny and occupy places of power with dignity. But let's be clear, regaining
power is not taking the place of the old bureau. This correction must be an act
of restoration, not revenge: restore dignity, repair memory, build institutions
that respect plurality without reproducing the wrongs suffered. Owning one's
history does not mean becoming the author of the same services; it means making
his presence and voice a cornerstone of the nation, a guarantee that these
humiliation will not happen again.
Rav Yosef Zini is not just a
justifiable: he is the face of a Sephardic memory that refuses to die. His son
at the head of the Shin Bet is a sign that this memory now finds its place at
the heart of national sovereignty. No media campaign, no ideological maneuver,
no institutional hypocrisy will be able to erase this reality.
Israel will take a stand.
The separatists will not be silent.
And whosoever agrees against them
shall know that he touches the very soul of the people of Israel.
Waiting for
Enlightenment by Rabbi Yerachmiel Tilles
https://ascentofsafed.com/cgi-bin/ascent.cgi?Name=1455-06
Reb Yosef and his
wife had never merited to give birth to a child. A devoted follower of the Maggid
('preacher') of Kozhnitz, Yosef would pack his belongings and travel to his
Rebbe every month. But he never received a blessing for a child from the Rebbe.
In fact, Yosef never got any direct answer, positive or negative.
But Yosef's wife
wouldn't relent. She pleaded with him to pressure his Rebbe to do something
about their situation. "Don't leave him until he responds to your plea for
a child!" she cried exasperatedly.
Faithful to his
promise to his wife, Yosef stood before his Rebbe and stated with all the
courage he could muster: "My dear Rebbe, I will not move from here until I
merit a blessing!"
The Maggid didn't
say anything, his features furrowed into a serious expression. He appeared to
be deliberating a response.
"If you agree
to surrender your entire wealth," the Maggid finally said, "I'm
prepared to bless you with a child."
Reb Yosef stared at
the Maggid, speechless. He could not make such a decision on his own. He
returned home to consult with his wife. She answered that she prefers to live a
life of poverty rather than dying childless, and so he should report back to
the Maggid that she agrees to the condition.
"If so,"
the Maggid said after hearing the couple's decision, "you should travel to
the Seer of Lublin and do whatever he tells you to."
Immediately, Reb
Yosef set out to Lublin. There, he met with the Seer and explained the purpose
of his travel and who sent him.
"Stay here with
me until G-D enlightens me how to proceed," instructed the Seer.
Reb Yosef's waiting
finally came to an end when the Seer summoned him into his chamber. "When
you were younger, you were engaged to a young woman," said the Seer, who
was known for his divinely inspired vision. "However, you canceled that
match and hurt the young woman deeply. She never recovered from the devastating
blow to her self-esteem, and you never apologized to her, however justified you
may have been for your decision. That is why you have no children, and until
you make it up to her, you will never be granted a child.
"So this is
what you must do. Right now, there's a big fair in Balta, and if you travel
there, you will meet your previous fiancée. Find her and ask for her
forgiveness."
The Seer saw truly.
When Yosef was still very young, his parents had matched him with a pleasant
girl named Esther-Shifra. However, as he neared marriageable age, he felt the
match was not to his choosing, and he married another woman instead. He never
made amends, not before nor after his wedding.
Reb Yosef traveled
to Balta. Wherever he went, he repeated his question over and over again:
"Do you know a woman named Esther Shifra that is now here in this town?"
But no one ever heard of her.
Three days before
the close of the fair, as the merchants were already winding down from the past
few weeks and preparing for their journey home, Reb Yosef was no closer to
finding this elusive woman. He wandered the streets aimlessly, unsure of what
to do next.
Drops of water
suddenly pattered on the ground around him before turning into a deluge from
the sky. Yosef ran into the closest store to take shelter and waited there for
the rain to abate slightly.
He wasn't the only
one trying to take cover from the torrential rain. A small crowd also pushed
itself into the store. When a young woman tried to make her way through, out of
modesty, Yosef stepped aside to allow her to pass.
Instead of walking
past, the woman turned around, and looking aghast, cried in a loud, anguished
voice: "Look at this man! He abandoned me in my youth, and even today he
refuses to share a space with me!"
Reb Yosef couldn't
believe his eyes. It was Esther Shifra! Everything he thought of saying came
spilling out at once as he struggled to find the right words, apologizing again
and again for the pain he caused her years ago, and telling her how he came so
far just to mollify her and ask her forgiveness. The tears trickling down his
beard lent proof to his heartfelt regret.
Esther Shifra
remained silent throughout, but her hard expression gradually softened.
"I'm ready to forgive you on one condition," she said when her
erstwhile intended finally finished.
Reb Yosef nodded.
"I'm ready to accept anything you insist…Anything that's feasible,"
he added.
"If so,"
she continued, "travel to Sovalk, where my poor brother lives, a pauper
with nothing at all. Give him 200 gold coins as a dowry for his daughter. If
you do this, I'll forgive you."
Yosef quickly calculated
that If he would sell everything they owned and add his savings to the pile, he
would probably be able to put together 200 gold coins. He agreed to the woman's
condition and took the first coach home.
As soon as he had
the promised amount tucked safely in his bag, Reb Yosef set out to Sovalk.
Locating the brother was nowhere near as hard as finding the sister. Reb Yosef
found him sitting in his ramshackle house, looking glum and anxious.
"What am I
supposed to do?" moaned the brother to the stranger who just walked in.
"Our daughter's wedding is coming, and I don't even own a kopek for the
expenses!"
"Here,"
Reb Yosef said, shoving the swollen bag into the man's hands. "Two hundred
gold coins, so you can celebrate her wedding in style!"
With eyes as round
and bright as the gold coins, the man stared at Reb Yosef. "What is this
all about?" he managed to croak.
"Don't worry
about the money. It's legitimate. Your sister, Esther Shifra, said to give it to
you. I was engaged to her many years ago, but I broke it off to marry a
different woman. Several days ago, I tracked her down to ask for her
forgiveness. She told me she would forgive me if I would provide this sum for
your daughter's wedding."
"Are you
mocking me?" the man cried, the bag of coins trembling in his hand.
"My sister has been dead for the past fifteen years. She died right here
in Sovalk. I should know; I buried her with my own hands!"
After taking a few
moments to compose himself, Reb Yosef outlined the events leading him to
Sovalk: the Maggid's instruction to visit the Seer of Lublin, the journey to
Balta and his fruitless search there, the providential encounter with his
ex-fiancée, and the last leg of his trip here to find the brother.
After Yosef
described the woman he met in Balta, the man nodded his head in disbelief.
"That indeed is my sister, Esther Shifra."
Less than one year
later, Reb Yosef and his wife were blessed with a child, a cause of great joy
to all those who knew them and their long wait.

They came to spread Islam-Jihad and wow are they ever
successful.
Americans have become too complacent and lazy

The first and easiest target are the
big cranes that dig in Hebrew known as Buggers. It was a combination of
shooting with sniper rifles and an RPG and Ephraim Feldbaum died on the spot (921st
soldier killed). (I believe one of Col. Avraham’s men) When we let the
terrorist into our area supervised by Egyptians they were not looking for the
body of Goldin but to see if they had weapons stored in the tunnels there to
build a connecting tunnel. In fact there is a thought that Goldin and Hamami’s
bodies they are hold out on purposes for more extortion. My wife bought me Eli
Sharabi’s book “Hostage” in English at a very high price here I am sure
on Amazon it is cheaper.
One of the freed hostages, Bar
Kuperstein, from a non-religious Kibbutz invited everybody to put on Tephillin
with him on Friday Morning in ‘Hostage Square’. “I want to invite everyone this Friday at 10:00 a.m. to a
mass tefillin-laying at the square. I want you all to put on tefillin together
with me. My dream while in captivity was to put on tefillin - and we’ll do it
for the release of all our brothers who are still there,” Kuperstein concluded.

When the press reports the left’s
demonstrations or hostage demonstrations they always add on to the numbers
income tax, in heritance tax, sales or added value tax. Yesterday you could hear
a pin drop no numbers, no runs no hits no errors, etc. The real numbers lie
between 400,000 to 500,000 most likely. If you could the people like myself
listening to radio 93 saying Tehillim and Selichos, you will probably get
1,000,000.
