Parsha Chukas, Story and Rebbitzen link to story

This I pledge to you, that if any article or news Item I bring down is false, I will retract it. Not so the Mainstream Media. They posted a picture of Mexican Children in Cages from the Obama Era with the headline that Trump separates parents from children. That is the law and was put into effect because of males trafficking children to others. The truth has to be told. I do not defend an unjust law!

B”H Zahava bas Sara has recovered.

Parsha Chukas

In the desert questions kept arising of all sorts of Halachic items. Aaron’s sons passed away, the spies were gone except Yehoshua and Calev, Korach and his band died. What is the law of dealing with the dead and contact with a dead body?

19:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying: 2 This is the statute of the law which the LORD hath commanded, saying: Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer, faultless, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke.

The Para Aduma should not have two black hairs. It should have never seen a yoke. This means that the hairs on the neck are checked to see if at any time a yoke was there. The animal must be whole in body and without warts or a broken ear etc.

3 And ye shall give her unto Eleazar the priest, and she shall be brought forth without the camp, and she shall be slain before his face.

The Cohain Gadol can slaughter the Para. However, the rest of the process and the burning is done by a lower priest as that Cohain becomes Tumay until Mikvah and the coming out of the stars. Such is forbidden for the Cohain Gadol to become Tumay. Although the Rabbis said that if the Cohain Gadol is the only one to encounter a Jew that died along the way, it is a Mitzvah to bury him.

…7 Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he may come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the even. 8 And he that burns her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the even.

We do not understand the mystery of the logic or the Kabbalistic Reason for the Cohain, who is ritually pure, burns the Korban and becomes Tumay. The ashes are then used to purify people for many years of Tumay Mais or contact with the dead.

9 And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place, and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water of sprinkling; it is a purification from sin.

From the times of the Mishkan through the end of Beis Shayne there were 9 Red Heifers. In the days of the Moshiach the 10th will be found.

10 And he that gathers the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even; and it shall be unto the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourns among them, for a statute forever.

This is not necessarily the Cohain who burns the Korban and thus a second Cohain would become Tumay until the stars came out.

11 He that touches the dead, even any man's dead body, shall be unclean seven days; 12 the same shall purify himself therewith on the third day and on the seventh day, and he shall be clean; but if he purify not himself the third day and the seventh day, he shall not be clean.

The water used has to be “living” waters such as a stream or river that runs through a Mikvah.

13 Whosoever touches the dead, even the body of any man that is dead, and purified not himself--he hath defiled the tabernacle of the LORD--that soul shall be cut off from Israel; because the water of sprinkling was not dashed against him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him. 14 This is the law: when a man dies in a tent, every one that cometh into the tent, and everything that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days. …18 And a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched the bone, or the slain, or the dead, or the grave. 19 And the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day; and on the seventh day he shall purify him; and he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even. 20 But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, because he hath defiled the sanctuary of the LORD; the water of sprinkling hath not been dashed against him: he is unclean.

We don’t have the ashes today. Therefore, we are all considered Tamay Mais. However, if we had the ability to purify ourselves, it would be a Mitzvah to do so. We also are not allowed to walk on certain spots where the Mikdashim were for our souls would get Kares.

21 And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them; and he that sprinkles the water of sprinkling shall wash his clothes; and he that touches the water of sprinkling shall be unclean until even. 22 And whatsoever the unclean person touches shall be unclean; and the soul that touches him shall be unclean until even.

There are degrees of Tuma. A dead body is considered the Av or father of Tuma. We call it Avi Avos Ha Tuma. A person who has had flux of seed or a person with Tsoras is Av Ha Tuma – a strong source. A person touched by Tsoras is Rishon or first degree Tuma. If he touches food it becomes Shayne. Teruma must be pure to the third degree or Shlishi and a Korban to Revie or fourth degree.

20: 1 And the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month; and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.
The modern Kadesh is on the border of Egypt and good grazing land. It is 10 Km from Zin and the Modern Sde Boker. In Zin there is a natural path for humans and grazing animals to go down to the plateau of the Yarden Valley or the Syrian-African Rift. The Bnei Yisrael most likely used this path and are quite a bit south of Arad or what we call Tel Arad today.

2 And there was no water for the congregation; and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.

Miriam died in the 40th year at the age of 126 or 127 according to Chabad. Her Yahrzeit is not mentioned but it is sometime between Nissan and Av 2447 unless they started the year then in Nissan and it would be 2448. I based this on our counting from Tishrei. It appears to me to be most likely between Shavuos and Av. There was a legend of the well of Miriam that went with the Bnei Yisrael upon her merit. Being a former engineer, I most likely believe that late Sivan or Tammuz she passed away and the water sources dried up.

3 And the people strove with Moses, and spoke, saying: 'Would that we had perished when our brethren perished before the LORD! 4 And why have ye brought the assembly of the LORD into this wilderness, to die there, we and our cattle? 5 And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.' 6 And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tent of meeting, and fell upon their faces; and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.

On one hand, I would like to say that my speculated date above is correct. After reading this, I ask: “How can it be that a generation who grew up in the desert would complain so?” My answer is from a statement I heard from my grandparents after fleeing Austria and living in the States. “Under the Kaiser it was good!” If I could get drilled into my head between 40 to 50 years after Kaiser Franz Yosef died, I could believe that the people had this drilled in their heads.

7 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 8 'Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes, that it give forth its water; and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock; so thou shalt give the congregation and their cattle drink.' 9 And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as He commanded him. 10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said unto them: 'Hear now, ye rebels; are we to bring you forth water out of this rock?' 11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and smote the rock with his rod twice; and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their cattle.

The Medrash tells us that Moshe spoke to the rock as commanded and a trickle came out. He knew that it was not enough and remembered the incident of 40 years prior. He then stuck the rock twice. For not speaking enough which was the command and causing the water to flow by hitting it, he would be banned from entering Eretz Yisrael. A longer explanation can be found on the Chabad Website. https://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/3839434/jewish/Moses-Strikes-the-Rock-The-Full-Story.htm#utm_medium=email&utm_source=1_chabad.org_magazine_en&utm_campaign=en&utm_content=content

12 And the LORD said unto Moses and Aaron: 'Because ye believed not in Me, to sanctify Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.' 13 These are the waters of Meribah, where the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and He was sanctified in them.

From our standpoint bringing out the water was a miracle and a Kiddush HASHEM but from HASHEM’s standpoint, striking the rock instead of talking to it was both the sin of anger (at the people) and rebellion against THE HOLY ONE BLESSED BE HE.

14 And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom: 'Thus says thy brother Israel: Thou know all the travail that hath befallen us; 15 how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians dealt ill with us, and our fathers; 16 and when we cried unto the LORD, He heard our voice, and sent an angel, and brought us forth out of Egypt; and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border. 17 Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy land; we will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink of the water of the wells; we will go along the king's highway, we will not turn aside to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy border.'

Rabbi Shimon (Bar Yochai) says, “It is a known Halacha that Esav hates Yacov!” Now this is an extraordinary statement if one thinks about it. It is a Halacha! A law! It is like a law of nature that is immutable. They had a tradition that Yacov stole their birthright and his children are the recipients of that. One thing we know about Esav is lack of compassion.

18 And Edom said unto him: 'Thou shalt not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against thee.' 19 And the children of Israel said unto him: 'We will go up by the highway; and if we drink of thy water, I and my cattle, then will I give the price thereof; let me only pass through on my feet; there is no hurt.' 20 And he said: 'Thou shalt not pass through.' And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand. 21 Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border; wherefore Israel turned away from him.

Esav did not believe in brotherly transportation but strict border enforcement. There was no UN to plead the cause of the refugees who came out of Egypt. The Yetzer HaRa never bothers itself it only comes out against Am Yisrael and our borders with employment seekers. This brings us back the Halacha from Rabbi Shimon.

22 And they journeyed from Kadesh; and the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came unto mount Hor. 23 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom, saying: 24 'Aaron shall be gathered unto his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against My word at the waters of Meribah. 25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up unto mount Hor. 26 And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron shall be gathered unto his people, and shall die there.' 27 And Moses did as the LORD commanded; and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation. 28 And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there in the top of the mount; and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount. 29 And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they wept for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.

The precise burial spot was known to Moshe and Eleazar so only the approximate location is where the memorial stones are today. For the Medrash says it was in a cave.

21: 1 And the Canaanite, the king of Arad, who dwelt in the South, heard tell that Israel came by the way of Atharim; and he fought against Israel, and took some of them captive.

Somewhere between Sde Boker and Arad maybe near Maale Akravim or closer to the Arad road. He had scouts there as he was in charge of protecting the southern flank of Eretz Canaan. Just like Og and Sichon were the north eastern flank.

2 And Israel vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said: 'If Thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.' 3 And the LORD hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities; and the name of the place was called Hormah.

I assume this is the site of Tel Arad today.

4 And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to compass the land of Edom; and the soul of the people became impatient because of the way.

The mountains from the Dead Sea to Aqaba are reddish towards sunset and the name Edom or Red is appropriate. Although we are told that Esav was called Edom

5 And the people spoke against God, and against Moses: 'Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, and there is no water; and our soul loathes this light bread.' 6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.

This is not the generation of Rabbis Yehoshua, Eliezer and Akiva where they would have fought to eat some Mann but rather bored people who never worked because they got their sustenance from HASHEM and wanted more than the minimum.

7 And the people came to Moses, and said: 'We have sinned, because we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that He take away the serpents from us.' And Moses prayed for the people. 8 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole; and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.' 9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and set it upon the pole; and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked unto the serpent of brass, he lived.

He lived for he looked up towards heaven to see the serpent which came to be the symbol of the medical profession.

10 And the children of Israel journeyed, and pitched in Oboth. 11 And they journeyed from Oboth,

… 13 From thence they journeyed, and pitched on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness, that comes out of the border of the Amorites.--For Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites; 14 wherefore it is said in the book of the Wars of the LORD: Vaheb in Suphah, and the valleys of Arnon,

The Amorites stole the land from the Bnei Ammon and years later the Bnei Ammon would want it from Israel.

15 And the slope of the valleys that inclines toward the seat of Ar, and leans upon the border of Moab.-- 16 And from thence to Beer; that is the well whereof the LORD said unto Moses: 'Gather the people together, and I will give them water.'

This is the brook of Arnon on the Jordanian side of the Dead Sea at one of the widest apertures.

21 And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, saying: 22 'Let me pass through thy land; we will not turn aside into field, or into vineyard; we will not drink of the water of the wells; we will go by the king's highway, until we have passed thy border.' 23 And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border; but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness, and came to Jahaz; and he fought against Israel. 24 And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from the Arnon unto the Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon; for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.

This is on the southern Ramat HaGolan from Hamat Geder upwards through the plateau.

28 For a fire is gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon; it hath devoured Ar of Moab, the lords of the high places of Arnon. 29 Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chemosh;

This was their god and just a silly idol that had no  power to protect them and was mocked.

33 And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan; and Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.

He was a giant of a man and fearsome due to his height.

34 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Fear him not; for I have delivered him into thy hand, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.' 35 So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him remaining; and they possessed his land.

The Bnei Yisrael have a piece of territory from the Dead Sea to Moab on the other side of the Yarden. Moab was in a territory also opposite Yericho.

22: 1 And the children of Israel journeyed, and pitched in the plains of Moab beyond the Jordan at Jericho.
Moshe has the Bnei Yisrael poised to enter Eretz Yisrael opposite Yericho.

Avoid Quarrels by Rabbi Yerachmiel Tilles

The nephew of the Tolner Rebbe in Jerusalem was on a plane from Israel to NY [this year-2018]. Sitting next to him was a strictly religious looking man with his two young sons. As is customary in such a situation, they got to chatting -- why they are going to NY, etc. This is a brief retelling of the story the Tolner Rebbe's nephew heard from the young man as he told it to his uncle.*
* Editor's note: The Tolner Rebbe has testified that due to the fantastical nature of the story, before telling it in public he personally re-checked and verified all the details with his nephew.
They are a very "Litvish" [Lithuanian-style, very non-Chasidic] couple from Kiriat Sefer, Israel, known to be a very non Chasidic community." They had been married more than ten years with no children. As a result, they were not living harmoniously and the marriage was on the rocks.
One evening, the husband went to his mentor, his main teacher at Ponovitch Yeshiva in Bnei Brak (the most famous and prestigious of all Lithuanian-style yeshivas in Israel or even the world) when he had been a student there, to ask what to do at this point. He replied that unfortunately there are cases that a divorce is the only option and this seems to be one of them. The husband responded that he doesn't want to tell his wife, as it will probably lead to another fight. His mentor agreed that perhaps he should find the right time to tell her and meanwhile just go back home.
He went home and soon after that they went to sleep. An hour later the wife wakes up her husband in a panic and insists on telling him the following:
She had a very intense, disturbing dream. In it the Lubavitcher Rebbe appeared to her (she recognized him from the many pictures of him in newspapers, on posters, etc.) in a very vivid manner and said, "I understand that you both are contemplating divorce." (It was not clear to the nephew if the wife even knew of the conversation her husband had with his rabbi at the yeshiva that day.)
I want you to know, the Rebbe continued, that in the early 80's, when your husband learned in Ponovitch, there was terrible hostility from the Bnei Brak Litvish community towards Chabad. Your husband and some of his friends spoke and wrote many negative and hateful things about me and my Chasidim.
"So before you get divorced, perhaps you both should go to a Ruv [high-level Rabbi] and tell him what I said, and he should guide you what to do."
She asked her husband if it is true what the Rebbe told her in the dream. He, annoyed that he was waked suddenly in the middle of the night, and angry that she mentioned a Rebbe whom he had extreme negative issues with, screamed at her, "For this nonsense you wake me up?!" and went back to sleep.
An hour later it was the husband who woke up the wife and shakily told her that he just had the exact same dream.
He went again to Bnei Brak to speak to his mentor, and told him about the dreams. He confessed he was not merely a participant in the dispute but a ring leader, someone who really stirred up issues against Chabad and the Rebbe in the Yeshiva. The rabbi (who was not at all Chasidic) said if that's the case, you need to go to the gravesite of the Lubavitcher Rebbe with a Minyan of ten men and ask forgiveness for what you said and did. The preferred method is to first specify exactly what you said and did that was not appropriate, and then ask his forgiveness.
After a moment he offered another piece of advice: Do not to ask the Chabad Chasidim around there to be part of the Minyan, because when they hear what you said and did, their reaction may be violent!
The husband smiled. He told the rabbi that he has a brother-in-law in Brooklyn who heads a Kollel [advanced Torah studies for married men], and he almost surely will be happy to organize for him a Minyan.
As soon as the strands of his life allowed, the young man flew to NY. He arranged with his brother-in-law for the Minyan, and together with them he went to the Rebbe's burial site, where he asked sincerely for forgiveness. A year to the day of the visit to the Ohel [the Rebbe's resting place in Montefiore Cemetery, Queens, NY], his wife gave birth to twin boys!
The happy father concluded his story by saying that every year on the twins' birthday, he takes them to the Ohel and tells them the above story. Then he explains to them the consequences of speaking against Tzaddikim [especially holy Jews], such as what happened when Tatty ['Daddy'] made the mistake of speaking against the Tzaddik that is buried here.
The Tolner Rebbe added his opinion that the Lubavitcher Rebbe came all the way down from Heaven to save the marriage and life of a highly non-Chasidic couple, a person who insulted and belittled him, etc., because that is the essence of the Rebbe, to help people...even those who are strongly opposed to him.

Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe: [11 Nissan 5662 - 3 Tammuz 5754 (April 1902 - June 1994 C.E.)], became the seventh Rebbe of the Chabad dynasty after his father-in-law's passing on 10 Shvat 5710 (1950 C.E.). He is widely acknowledged as the greatest Jewish leader of the second half of the 20th century. Although a dominant scholar in both the revealed and hidden aspects of Torah and fluent in many languages and scientific subjects, the Rebbe is best known for his extraordinary love and concern for every Jew on the planet. His emissaries around the globe dedicated to strengthening Judaism number in the thousands. Hundreds of volumes of his teachings have been printed, as well as dozens of English renditions.

From Reuven K. Hi, everybody!

I was explaining to my wife the phenomena of "grand solar minima" (mini-ice-ages) - and the fall of empires - which coincide with these grand solar minima.

The long and the short of it is that the weather destroys crops on a massive basis - and causes people to go to war for food.

Starving people will go to war for food.

The more volcanoes you have popping their tops (and lots of them are popping their tops), the cooler the planetary temperature gets on average - something that will mean little in the tropics - but a lot in America, Europe - and - to a lesser degree- here.  After all, we in Israel are in the sub-tropics.

And, with the onset of the grand solar minimum, known as the "Eddy Minimum", that is EXACTLY what is happening.

EMPIRES FALL IN GRAND SOLAR MINIMA.   IN EVERY PREVIOUS GRAND SOLAR MINIMUM, THE CHINESE EMPIRE OF THE DAY FELL.

So, which modern-day empires will fall?   The American Empire, and most of its dependencies; the European Union; China and its dependencies; Russia, and its dependencies; and Arab states which have to import a lot of their food (Saudi).  It means wars on a massive scale throughout the planet.

Why will these empires fall?  LACK OF FOOD!  It is not merely armies that rely on food in their bellies - societies do, also.
This is already happening.  Hail storms are destroying crops, world-wide.  At first, you will see rising prices at the supermarket.  Then you will see shortages.  Then, there will be nothing to buy of various foods.  Governments ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT THIS.  THEY'RE SCARED - AND FOR GOOD REASON!  If you can't get food, there will be FOOD RIOTS!

At some point these nations may turn hungry and jealous eyes on us - these are the prophecies of Ezekiel (what we Jews call the War of Gog u'Magog) - but anyone who reads his Tana"kh knows the outcome already.

I'm a POLITICAL SCIENTIST.  IT IS MY BUSINESS TO KNOW SUCH THINGS.

But investigate growing food.  It is something we will all have to do in the near future.  The day will come when supermarket shelves will be bare - and you will have to depend on your own brains - and such brawn as you can get to help you - to grow food for yourself and your loved ones.

If you can, post this on Fakebook.  If not, please pass this to your friends, family and neighbors (the ones you like, anyway).  If you want more information, go to You Tube and look up videos from the Oppenheimer Ranch Project (made by David Diamond - with his Philadelphia accent).  You will get more information than you need.
